resins which do not evolve volatile products and do not require the use of prossuro
during curing. Such rosins can be usod with plasticizorap fillers and various addi-
tives. The method consists in Inserting a stool wire into the resin poured into a
metallic mold, and after solidification, pulling tho wire by moans o~ a tensile test-!

TEXT: A general-purpose apparatus is described to measure the angular
correlation which Is equipped with a magnetic analyzer for the measurement of the
circular polarization of -r-quanta. A study of thefYf~correlation with the measure-
ment of the circular polarization is of interest in the case of allowed ri-transi-
tions in which the interference elements of a Fermi and Gamov-Teller matrix can
take place, since, in this way, information can be obtained on the rules governing
the selection according to isotopic spin. The study of the forbidden first-order
P -transitions is also interesting, in particular when a deviation from the shape
of the allowed P -spectrum is observed. The radioactive (3-source and a stilbene
crystal used to record the A-particles are contained in an aluminum vacuum

chamber. The (3-particle detector can rotate around an axis passing through the
source. The source was applied to an aluminum foil 1.5j.L thick. The circular pola-
ization of the If -quanta was measured by way of -C -ray forward scattering on mag-
netized iron of the magnetic analyzer. This method of measuring the polarization
is shown to be the best in the 'r-quanta energy range examined (0.1 to 1.5 Mev).
In order to increase the light Intensity, the magnetic analyzer was constructed in
the form of a toroid made of Armco iron maggnetized t-tith an internal coil. The
toroid was disposed in such a way that the radioactive source and the ',r-quanta
detector (a NaI crystal) are on its axis, with a lead screen provided between the
source and the scintillator so that only those 7-quanta could reach the detector
which had been scattered by the walls of the magnetized toroid. The [6 -particles
and the 7'-quanta were recorded using a 11ast-coincidence device with the resolu-
tion 2r~7- =, 32 nsec. The amplitudes of the pulses from the dynodes of the photo-
electric amplifier were picked up with a single-channel analyzer and fed to sloel
coincidences with the pulse from the fast-coincidence circuit. In order to reduce
errors due to the slow changes in the parameters of the electronic (tevices, the
direction of the current in the magnet was changed every 2 to j minutes with a
chronometrically controlled automatic system. With this devi �e, the circular po-
larization of the '(-quanta produced in the /5-decay of Au'9 was measured.

Abstract: determination of small quantities of the dissolved
gases and of large quantities of adsorbed gases.
It is established that r,-,as content does not depend
on the nature of surface of a metal. The new me-
thod developed by Dargel (Dar-elts dissertation,
Berlin, 1945) is based on the CD existance of a de-
pendency between a quantity of the adsorbed rrases
(evenly distributed throughout a sample) and quan-
tity of H2 (which can be measured). The calcula-
tions are based on the Zivert's equation:

This method is a subject to an error of 10-15,c." in
the temperature fluctuation of + 50. The data
presented here were obtained by-employing this
method for alloys of varying Al content.

Abstract: Use of the Abbe refractomotor for the determination
of some infusions and sterile solutions is discussed. The meth-
od is very fast, simple, and accurate. Use of the method in
the field,, where more exacting methods cannot be used, is eval-
uated. Preparation of nomograms for the practical application

TRANSIATION: A study was made of the effect of iow-moleculair '-.,r pl%utiLizer.~
from dioctylphtalate (DOP) and dibutylsebacinate (DBS) )n the and elec-
tric properties of polyvinylah.Loride (PVC). It was establi:;.ed tx,at PL affects the
maximum of dipole elasticity losses and when the content of PL is considerable it dis-
places the maximum to lower temperature areas and decreases iti -alue; the effect on
PVC produced by DBS if; stronger than that of DOP. There its a i_ ....ideruble PL effect at
20' on the resistance of syeeific volume in plasticized PVC wher., the compound contains
;;~.20% of PL. The greatest effect is achieved by DBS, lowerinL, -.ae specific volume re-
sistance by 3 points, as compared to pure PVC. If the compound contaIns 50A of DBS,
the specific volume resistance goes dovm by 5 points and is lowered at higher

temperatures. The introduction of PL lowers the embrittlement tcm~4rature (RT): with
a content of 5% of PL in the compound, as referred to the ET of NC, the BT equals
20*; with a 50 content of PL in the compound,, the ET equalz P*'. DOF and DBS have an
almost identical effect on the thermal expansion and the ET in PVC plastics. By means
of a roentgenographic analysis it was established that the Introduction of PL iato PVC
(4Q20) stimulates a better ordered structure of the material; however, a furtL;~z in-
crease of PL (50%) will disturb the order of the compound structure.

Abstiact: lytic activity of the listereila is established
with their cultivation in blood agar or in a broth.
Sharply-expressed catalase activity and reduction
properties are found In listerella. Hyaluroni-
dases, plasmocoagulases and fibrinolysis of the
listerella do not form. Erysipelothrixes possess
no catalase activity, but produce hyaluronidase.
Listerella possess greater resistance to methylene
blue than do erysipelothrixes; the latter are less
sensitive to gentian violet, crystal violet and
