A2-STRACT: Invos-AGations on the strossor, in blocks of ore during roon, and pillar
operations in oro deposits have been made at the Laboratory of Photoolasticity at
the Dnepropetrovak Rining Institute (Laboritoriya fotouprugosti, Dnepropetrovsk
gornogo instituta). The purpose of the studies is to establish methods of computing
strenGth of these blocks by stress analysis. Two- and three-dimensional models were
prepared of plastine or "opoyymal.11 The first were 220 x 130 mm, the second 100 x
100 x 100 im. Iaochromatic curves in the material were observed and used to plot,
the stress distribution. From-two-dimonsional studies it was found that hi."h normal
stresses (0-,) occur in the floor and roof of a room at low values of lateral thrust

and maximal tan-antial stress in the walls of a room reach their maximum at a
lateral thrust of 0-,-0.2. 1-lith increase in lateral thrust, the maximal values are
found at one-quarter the roof span from the wall. With low lateral thrust, a broad
zone of low normal, stress (C-y) and tangential stress occurs in the roof and the
floor of a room. With increase in interval between levels, tangential stroosoc in-
crease in the roof rocks but change little in the wall rocks.. In roomz three times
longer than wide (or more), the streas state in the rocks bordering the room appears
similar in three-dimensional models to that in two-dimensional models, but the
actual stress values may differ by 15--2U%. Orig. art. has; 6 figures and 4 for-

Abstract: [Authors' Inglish zummary modified] Groups of 5 calves, 3-6 months
old, were subjected to oral infection in 7 instanaes withiM. inlel, M.
smegmatis, M. butyricum and M. pellegrino and 42 calve5 w th minetti. Three
calves wore infected twice, s.c. with M. fortultum and two calves with M.
Ininetti. Animals infected with the first 4 strains did not react to skin tests
with tuberculin of different origin. Skin tests were carried out three times
on the 42 calves infected with M. minetti with the following results: 66.6-,;
of them reacted to homologous tuberculin, 19% to the mammalian and 12,-~' to the
avian one; 4.8% reacted to all three simultaneously, 2.V,; to the avian and
minetti tuberculin and 4.8;'o* to the avian one. All 3 animals infected with M.
fortuitum reacted to the avian and one of them also IZo the mammalian tuberculin.
Of the 2 animals infected s.c. with Y. minetti. one reacted to the avian and

Abstract: The purpose of the studies reported was to identify the immunoglo-
bulins present in the serum of guinea pigs infected with various types of
Mycobacteria, and to separate the bovinus and gallinaceus types of Mycobac-
terium tuberculosis. The sera were electrophoresied in an agar medium and
then subjected to the action of homologous antigen and antiglabulin. Ty-
pical precipitation lines were obtained. Approximately ten antigen fractions
could be distinguished in pathogenic Mycobacterium types. The precipitation
reaction of the two types of Mycobacterium tuberculosis had different pre-
cipitation patternsin the sera; this difference permitted separation and
identification. 12 references, including 3 Hungarian, 3 German, and 6 Wes-

ABSTRACT: The effectiveness of antioxidant additivej such as phenyl-l-naphthylamir.e,
Ionol, or dilauryl selenide as oxidation inhibitors for the polyethylsiloxane fluid,
lubricant 6 (TUYeU-118-55), has been studied for the pur of prolonging service
life and increasing service temperature of the lubricant.file criterion of thermal-
oxidative stability of lubricant specimens with or without additives was gelation
time at 200 anti 250C. The best results were attained with dilauryl relenide; at
250C addition of 5% of this compound Increases the thermal stability of the lubricant
by a factor of 25. The effectiveness of the additives tested improves with increasinj
concentration 1,5% max) and drops with increasing temperature. In other tests it
was found that the same additives do not produce the same effect in individual
silicone fluidii. For example, oxidation inhibitors of PMS-100 polymethylsiloxane
fluid such as (~yclope.ntadiurylcarbonylmanganese, selenophene derivatives, or ferrocenii

TITLE: TsTMAa new effective stabilizer'for silicone lubricants
SOURCE: Khimiya i tekhnologiya topliv i masel, no. 4, 1966,,47-48
TOPIC TAGS: lubricant, lubricant additive, silicone lubricant, antioxidant additive
ABSTRACT: A study has been made of the antioxidant effectiveness of cyclopentadi-
enyltricarbonylmanganese (designated TsTM in the source) in silicone lubricants.
TsTM was found to surpass existing silicone antioxidants in stabilizing effective-
ness and solubility. It is noted that prolonged service of silicone lubricants at
150-200C and above is normally rendered impossible by oxidation and polymerization
and that existing antioxidant additives are insufficiently effective. The silicon(!
lubricant used in -this study was PI,13-100'~olydir~iethylsiloxane fluid (?.MTU-6 11o.
YeU-230-61--r,p--P-i~fications).,, The criterion of antioxidation effectiveness was the
gelation time at TsTIM -,,-G found to b-- a highly effective stabilizer of
the P1431-100 fluid. At 250C the curve TsTM concentration versus effectiveness went I
through a maximum at 0.5%; at this maximum the gelation time was increased by a
factor of 250. The optimum TsTM concentration vas dependent on temperature. TsTM F

vas highly soluble (up to 2% at minus 600 in the PMS-100 fluid-an important
advantage. A disadvantage was the unstability of TsTM solutions in PMS-100 on
storage in the light; however, in the dark the solutions remained stable and effect-
ive for 1 year. Orig. art has: 1 figure and 1 table. [SMI

TITLE: Thermal decomposition of methyl and phenyl chlorosilanes-
PERIODICAL: Plasticheskiye massy, no. 2, 1963, 19-21,
TEXT: The behavior of the vapor of methyl and phenyl chlorosilanies during
their synthesis in a continuous apparatus was studi'ed. Methyl trichloro-
silane, dimethyl dichlorosilaae, and trimethyl chlorosilane remained
undecomposed after several hours heating at 3600C 'in the presence of copper
powder. The composition of the liquid products was the eame'befoX6 and
after the experiment, and no gaseous products were formed. Methyl di-
chlorosilane did not decompose in the presence of Cu-Si alloy 01-0 sit
17.5% Cu) at 36oOc; but with a Cu-Si alloy that had been used to synthesizd
methyl chlorosilanes, decomposition starLed at 3600C and increased with
rising temperature. Gaseous products containing hydrogen were formed at.
a ratio of (0-16-0-73).10-3 mmoles per mole of CH 3SiHC1 2' on copper powder$
an intensive exothermic decomposition started at 3600C and reached 75%--
The liquid products contained mainly CH 3 Sicl3and some.SiCl 41

product consisted of H 2 and some HC1. Coke was deposited on.the copper#
Phenyl trichlorosilane did not decompose at 600 0C, slightly at.650-70000,
and noticeably at 7500C (about 52~fo) on a cu-Si allo'y (27.0%'Cu) whi ,eh. .'had
been used to synthesize phenyl chlorosilanes; SiCl H', small amou'nts of
4' 2
unsaturated hydrocarbons and of benzene were formed. on copper.powder,
decomposition started only at 7500C (47%). The,liquid pr6ducts contained
c H sic), and SiOl and coke was formed. There are 8.tables.,
