ABSTRACTt The authors studied the kinetlos and'other regular phenomena of the
diazotization of granular copolymers of n-aminostyrol with divinylbenzene, andI
the nitrogen coupling of the resulting diaz6~olymers with azooompounds. They
undertook the study of the dependency of polyaninostyrol cohesion, granular
size, concentration, and ratio of reagents upon the speed and degree of complete-~!
ness of the reactions because there was no literature on the problem. They

observed the following: That decreases in cohesion and increases in reagent
ratios accelerated the diaz6tization and nitrogen couging reactions, while
variations in granular sizes and concentrations of the reagents had little
effect; that a decrease in granular size and an increase in reagent ratiow:
produces a higher degree of reaction completion. They conclude that, for a
maximum yield of diazopolymers, it is necessary to uset copolymer granules
of minimum size and cohesion; at least a 1 to 6 ratio ol copolymer to sodium
nitrite solution; a-concentrated solution of sodium nitrite for easier
handling. Orig. art. has: ) graphs.

ABSTRACT: Polymer-analogous conversion is becoming very signift-
cant. By nitrating the granular copolymer of styrol and divinyl
benzol following reduction, subsequent monodiazotization and combina-
tion Trith various aromatic amines and phenols causes synthesis
of the complexing oationites, ionite.-Indicators and poly azo dyes.
'With the aid of Sandmeyer's reaction, hydroxy sulfo hydryl, ohlor-,
fluor--and other derived polystyrols are obtained. A method Is also

on the blood calcium level in hyper- and hypocalcactnia
Russian text) VRAC DELO 1956, 9 (513-916)
The problem of the characteris6c specificity of the spleen in relation to its in-
I if
fluence on the blood calcium level is studied. The work was performed on rabbits
with hyper- and hypocalcacmia. Hype rcalcacmia was brought about by the method
of prolonged stimulation of the parathyroid glands and hypocalcaemia Py extirpa-
tion of 3 of the parathyroid glands. After splenectomy performed on hypercalcaeni-
ic animals, there was a marked reduction in the calcium content in comparison
with the normal figures. After implantation in the rabbit of the spleen of another
animal species ( cat, guinea-pig) increase of the calcium level to its fol-mer figure
was not brought about, as was observed on implantation of the spleen of thi
species. Increase of the blood calcium level in rabbits with hypocalcaemia, after
implantation of the spleen of an animal of another species was not observed either.
However, on implantation of the spleen of a rabbit, the calcium level wa--. restorea
to normal. The author concludes that the influence of ihe spleen on the blood cal-
cium level in hyper- and hypocalcaemia is characterized by species specificity.

Title A generalization of Kotellnikov's theorem
'Periodical Radiotekhnika, 4, 5-14, Ap 1956
Abstract The Kotellnikov theorem which permits determining any
arbitrary time function with a limited spectrum according
to discrete values of this function, appears to the
author to be a very valuable relationship underlying any
method of pulse communication. However, the spectrum
limitation imposes certain problems in the application
of this theorem. The author presents his solution of
these problems consisting in: 1) series develo ment of
a time function with unlimited spectrum, and 2~ the
determination of the error in the approximate Kotellnikov
series development. One Soviet reference, 1933.

ABSTRACT: In connection with the measuring of the characteristics', the time
needed for this purpose is of essential importance. A, high degree of
accuracy as well of rapidity when measuring frequency-characteristics
is obtained by means of the frequency modulation method with the aid
of oscillographs. The authors are not of the opinion that these me-
thods are less accurate than those based upon point mea3urement. The
present paper describes the construction of a device for the rapid
measurement of frequency characteristics; errors are investigated,
and the block scheme of the devicej which was developed between 1953
and 1955 in the laboratory of the USSR Academy of Sciences, is des-
cribed. Calculations shcrw that in most of the cases under investiga

TITLE: On the Problem of the Use of the Kotellnikov Theorem for Time
Functions With Infinite Spectrum (K voprosu o primenenii teoremy
Kotellnikova k funktsiyam vremeni s neogranichennym spektrom)
PERIODICAL: Radiotekhnika, 1956, Vol. 13, Nr 0, pp. 11 - 12 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: A certain confusion exists in the selection of the series ana-
logous to the series of Kotellnikov which approximate the time
function with an infinite spectrum. The expansion according to
Kotellnikov of the time function with a finite spectrum has the
following two characteristics: 1) The expansion factors are values
of the time function at the discreet moments. 2) The factors of
the expansion into the Kotellnikov series are at the same time
factors of the expansion of a complex spectral function in a
Fourier series, the spectrum width being the expansion interval.
Both features are connected with each other and exist at the same
time. When the Kotellnikov theorem is used as an approximate
time function with infinite spectrum. 1) The maonitudes of the
limiting frequency and of the interval betreen the discreet
Card 1/3 times are not clearly determined and, to a certain degree, are

for Time Functions With Infinite Spectrum
chosen arbitrarily (according to the demanded accuracy of
approximation); and 2) The factors of the series can not have
both above mentioned properties at the same tirie: either they
are values of the tizie function at discreet moments, or they
are factors of the Fourier expansion of a spectral function.
Thus an alternative is formed: which series has to be re-arded
as that of Kotellni!~.ov - the one with its factors satisfying
the first, or the other with its factors satisfyin,~ the second
characteristic ? - The author is of opinion that the possibility
of practical use is the criterion for the correct selection of
either of the two expansions.-The findin.- of the expansion
factors accordinj to the values of the time function at discreet
moments does not cause any difficulties. The findinC of the
factors in the expansion accordinc. to the spectral function
is practically impossible.- The error in the expan3ion of a
time function with infinite spectrum into an approximate
Kotellnikov aeries is investiGated, and the author shows that
from the viewpoint of practice the expansion given in reference
4 is the most useful. Finally the degree of approximation in

TITLE: Measurement of the Parameters of Non-Linear Elements
(Short Communication) (Izmereniye parametro-,;-

PERIODICAL: Elektrosvyazl, 1959, Nr 6, pp 71-73 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: For many practical purposes, it is sufficient to
represent non-linearities by approximate "power"
functions. Then a non-linear element can be character-
ised by two constant parameters. The article describes
a method by which these constants can be measured. The
method is applied to non-linear inductive elements but
can be extended with little change to capacitive and
resistive elements. A non-linear relationship between
the flux-linkages 4r and the current i can be written
approximately V = LKiK (1)
where LK and K are constant parameters, determining
the non-linearity of the element. LK by analogy is
called the "generalised" inductance and K is called

parameters would be to measure -tit and i at two points
