ABSTRACTj Staple viscose fibers are extenuively used by the Soviet
textile industry; yet they are nct standardized. There are only
technical conditions set up at in neparate textile industry
branches.
The author points out inadequacies in these technical con-
ditions which should not be repeated in the needed , rOCT
standard. A --alculation method, worked out by the Moscow
Textile Institute is sugi;ested for estimating the properties
of staple vis.,,ose yarn by the kncwn physical properties of
the fiber and its twist.

TITLEt Changes in Physicomechanical Properties of Viscose Tire Cord
as Dependent on Structure and Technology of Fiber Production
PERIODICAL: Khimicheskiye volokna, 1960, No- 5, PP. 37-40
TEXTs The authors studied the effect of thickness and number of monofila-
ments on the properties of cord, as well as the.effect of elongation. It
was shown that the breaking length slowly decreases, while the breaking
elongation increases with increasing number of monofilaments. Studies of
the effect of fineness of monofilaments on the physicomechanical properties-
of spun thread.showed that threads from 1200/0.06 spinnerets had maximum
stability. 1000/0-07 spinnerets did not increase the stability of spun
thread, since the increased opening brought about ZnS impurities obstruct-
ing the spinnerets. With the use of 120010.06 spinnerets, the stability of
thread was increased by 3-4% as compared with series products spun with
800/0.08 spinneretso The authors studied the effect of fineness of mono-
filaments on the strength of thread on fatigue bending by means of a

yarn. The methods applied were developed at the laboratoriya tekstillnykh
ispytaniy VNIIV (Laboratory of Textile Testing of the Scientific Research
Institute of Synthetic Fibers). The stress for monofilaments was
2 2
0-- 10kg1mm ; for cord yarn, it was 6- 5ko/mm . Studies by N. V. Mikhaylova
and Ye. M. Lev showed that the resistance to fatigue bending increased with
increasing metrical count of monofilaments. The.effect of fineness of fibers
on their elastic propert:*,es was checked with a device of the kafedra
tekstillnogo materialovedoniya MTI (Department of Textile Technology of MTI),.
the length between strainers was 20 mm. Loading and recovery -took more than
two hours. It was shown that the elastic properties were improved by the
fineness of monofilamentEi. There are 6 figures, 3 tables, and 'j' referencess

ABSTRACT: The question of the parameters of a flow of the vapourising
liquid affected by the permeability of the saturated porous
space was investigated by the authors. The following prob-
lems they describe in detail. A harmonic function p (press-
ure) confined in the space G (Fig 1) with higher pressure
than the satura-,;ed one., has a finite number of logarithmic
properties with its value becoming Pr at the boundary J", ,
At the boundary of the vapourising layer, the position of which
in the space G is not known, the function p = pl (satur-
ated pressure). The operational pressure is applied to the
wells situated in G . The profile yj represents a bound-
ary of a vapourising zone gi , which contains a harmonic
function Hi ~?P Of P 57 (S. A.Kj-zlstianovich function,
Card 1/6 Ref 1), where E",-, -, specific phase permeability for liquids,

In the space 9L the function H. has a finite number of
logarithmic pro-oerties conforming to the conditions W = HI

all the layers. For the wells situated in G

Thus the production of the mixed flow can be determined from
a fictitious flow of a uniform and non-compressed liquid and
the calculation performed with an application of the usual
interconnection formula (Ref ?). Thus the functions p"A*~ and

SOURCE: Izobreteniya, promyshlennyye obraztsy, tovarnyye znaki, no. 2. 1967, 1OT-108
TOPIC TAGS: fatigue teat, aircraft wing, turbulent flow
ABSTRACT: This Author's Certificate introduces a method for dynamic fatigue tests of
aircraft wings. In order to produce forces which approximate those encountered in
actual flight, the wing being tested is subjected to static loading vb1ch is varied
luring the experiment according 'to the law or lift variation for the test object. The
wing is simultaneously subjected tdvibrations of a given frequency to simulate flight
in a turbulent flow.

TITLE: The physico-hygienic evaluation of impulse vibrations
PERIODICAL. Gigiyena i sanitatiya, no. 4, 1962, 67-71
TEXT: The article reviews the effects of vibration-producing instruments and machines on persons working
with them. The authors report their own findings according to which impulse vibrations may cause more path-
ological changes the greater their amplitude and frequency per timc-unit, and the greater the rate of increase
in the impulse. They have also found that harmonic vibrations are much less dangerous to nien The article
aimed mainly at pointing out the ncccissity of studying this phenomenon, its pathological aspect and its hygie-
nic implications. Similar studies are tieing carried out also at the Leningrad and Kiev Institutes of Hygiene.
The most important task should be the quantitative elaboration of vibration indices, in order to know which
vibrations will not cause pathologic changes in the organism. -['here ate 6 figures and I table.

ABSTRACT: A system of vertical drains for filtration of the surface
water described in this artiClE is based on the expression (1),
where k - coefficient of soil filtration, T - mean thick-
ness of the interstitial water layer, 6 - coefficient of
water discharge,, q - intensity of filtration. The expression
(1) was found to be true for the distanceB 1 to 2 km (R - 500
to 1000 m) between the vertical welle with thickness of the
Water layer up to 200 m and the loweil~g of the interstitial
watbr table 10 to 20 m. The figure on p 120 illustrates the
flow of water which can be considered as a result of two mot-
ions: first, lowaring of the interstitial water -table due to
discharge into t1ie wells, second, rising of the interatitial
mater table, due to filtration. In the first case, the expre3s-
ion (1) is solved for q - 0 and:

The height h of the water table above the water level in
the well is found from Eqs (2), (3) and (4), where JO 9 1
and YO 9 Y 1 - Bessel functionso Xn - root of the Eq (5).
In order to detezmine the water table the e3mression (6) can
be used, which iii derived from Eqs (2) to (4) for r - R ,

the first root of Eq (5) is taken as 0.717 to 0.486 and the
second root - 4.29> X2 > 4.03. Then:
