TITLEt State of Development of the Tuymazy Oilfield (Discussion) PERIODICALs Geologiya nefti i gaza, 1960, Vo- 4, pp. 29-33 TEXTz The Devonian strata of the Tuymazy oilfield show very great dif- ferences on the surface and also vertically; the very numerous boreholes exhibit different cross sections. On the basis of detailed lithological work carried out by the Volga-Ural Branch of VNIIGeofizika (All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Geophysical Exploration Methods) in 1957-1959, the authors note that it is not right to Use one common term, "layer D111, for the reservoir rocks between the upper limestone and the separating strata. In the cross section examined, five layers with channel- like deposits were detected in the sandstone and coarse-grained silt. The authors therefore suggest that these sandelone layers be named, from top to bottom, ok , 6, it , r , andA; here, the main production layer of the horizon is the sandstoner . The use of one common term, D,, presents the Card 1/3 State of Development of the Tuymazy S10091601000100410031004 Oilfield (Discussion) B027/BO76 misconception of a single oil-bearing layer, whilst in reality the sand- stone layers ot, 4 , A A, are possibly not connected with the main layer f' Borehole 1014 serves as an example, in which the sandstone P is flooded and consists of slightly permeable types of rock, mainly silt, whilst the most important production layer is the sandstonodk which lies immediately below the upper limestone and is separated from the main layer by im- permeable rock. As an explanation of this interpretation, borehole 300 is very interesting as it shows distinctly marked oil-bearing sandstone layers,tt ra . andr ; if sandstone 6, were connected to sandstoner , the pressure in the layers of boreholes 1014 and 300 would be the same. How- ever, in February 1959 the pressure in the layers of boreholes 300 and 1014 was 145.5 and 100 atm, respectively; from this it is clearly seen that the pressure in borehole 300 results from sandstono P which has no connection with sandstoneei. The proper exploitation of sandstone LK is of great importance as at least half of the strata consist of it. A peculiari- ty of the reservoir rocks are the anomalies in the movement of oil-bearing countours, the authors believe that these anomalies are caused by the ir- regular movement of water in erosion sand which passes through theentire area in many channel-like turns. Thus, the movement of oilfield and Card 2/3 State of Development of the Tuymazy s/oog/60/000/004/003/004 Oilfield (Discussion) B027/BO76 pumped water occurs in layers so that this or that part of the area can be termed oil-bearing only with regard to one particular layer of sand. The existing general map for all the sand layers of horizon D I therefore does not comply with the actual characteristics of the reservoir rocks. When determining the position of pressure drillings, the geological structure must therefore be considered in the first place. Drilling must be performed in such a direction that the hydraulic pressure moves the oil along the channel. If the position of the sandstone layers is not considered, there is the danger of incomplete exploitation of the existent oil. The Work of 2-, 4- and 6-segment magnetron 41' - f 5 under conditions o 1.5 m traveling-wave oscillations and with anode current feed of electromagnets has been investigated experimentally. Such a circui-C aims at a constant H/Va and at the maintenance of conditions of Fostumus synchronism. In the above relation H;stands for magnetic field intensity and Va for anode voltage. Two sectional coils of 30,000 turns each have been used. In the case of a compound connection (a part of the turns is fed from an outside source) no constant H/Va has been achieved within a broad interval of Va variations (which disagrees with the Ford results). Recommendations are made for reducing deformation of piston pairs during operation. Tests were carried out at various institutes to determine the veaAof Drecision surfaces of piston pairs used in diesel engine fuel pumps. Other teTt-sshowed that sleeve and piston failure do not occur uniformly. Experimental studies show that the precision surface of the sleeve is strongly deformed when the space above the piston is sealed with a pressure valve. The wear curves set up before operation coincide with the deformation curves of the precision sleeve surface after assembly. Changes in the shape of the precision 1/2 uDc: 621.43-03-621.436.oo4.l7 1, '102~'Q-00 ACC NRt AP6oi4l5l surface cause leakage between the piston and the sleeve. A computational method for determining the durability of pump elements with respect to leakage can be worked out only if clearance measurements can be taken during operation. Work done on this problem has not been totally satisfactory since the clearance values determined by approximation do not coincide with the actual measurements. Further study has shown that sleeve dimensions of many types of pump elements have been overestimated and could be reduced to lighten these units and save metal. The experimental data show that deformation may be minimized for minimum overall dimensions by proper sleeve design. Curves are given showing deformational changes in the internal working sur- faces under the effect of pressure with respect to various wall thicknesses. Piston- cylinder pair working capacity is presently determined at the engine plant by a hydraulic pressure unit together wi'th a loading stand. Sleeve deformation under the effect of fuel pressure can be detemined analytically. Deformation of precision sur- faces during assembly can be completely eliminatedIN using an overhead sleeve design. (polivinilkhlorid kak material dlya trubehatykh razryadnikov.) YERIODICAL: "Vestaik Blektro-proqvshlennosti" (Jouraal of the Electrical Industry), 1957, Vol, 28, No. 4, pp. 66 - 6? (U.S.S.R.) ABSTRACT: The iinterials used to make the tubes of tubular lightning arresters must be mechanically strong, have gas generating properties and when an arc takes place insido the tube no combustion products mast be deposited on the surface. More- over, the material must be stable to all atmospheric conditions and be non-inflammable. Fibre-bakelite and polymethylmetha- crylate arresters installed on high voltage transmission lines are not sufficiently reliable. The bakelised paper tubes are not sufficiently moisture-resistant and must be varnished, every one or two seasons. It is therefore necessary to dis- mantle the arresters almost every year for varnishing. The mechanical strength of polymethylmethacrylate arresters is small and they can only be used in low povrr circuits. Aromatic substances cannot be used as are suppressing materials because the combustion products are rich in carbon and therefore, aliphatic compounds are moie satisfactory. These materials include polyvinyl chloride (pvc). The proper- ties of pvc depend on the degree of polymerisation and, there- fore, not all grades of it are of sufficient mechanical strength and weather resistance. For this application the 399 Polyvinyl chloride as a material for tubular lig~atning arresters. (Cont.) best stabilisers are oyddes of lead and their salts. The high mechanical strength and thermal stability of pvc is produced by mechanical plastification on hot rolls. Pvc bas very good gas generating properties. Discharger tubes made of pvc type PB-2 are satisfactory but type PB-4 could not be used because it is too brittle. The relevant physical and mechanical properties of pvc type PB-2 are tabulated. There is a consid- erable variation in the mechanical strength of thick-walled tubes of pvc. Tests made on tubular lightning arresters made from pvc, type PB-2, show that this material can interrupt curLents of up to 20 000 amps at voltages up to 35 kV and 8 000 amps at 220 kV. SOV/64-59-1-9/24 TITLEt Composite Phenol-aniline-f ormaldehyde Resins for Synthetic Materials and L--mir-sted Materials (Kompleksnyye fenolo-anilina-formalldegidnyye smuly dlya plaBtmass i sloistykh materialov) FERIODICALs Xhimicheakaya promyshlennostlt 1959, Ur 1, PP 42-44 (USSR) ABSTRACTi Aniline-formaldehyde resins (I , as compared with phenol-forzialdehyde resins (Ifl, have better electric-insulation properties, on the other hand they have a longer hardening time. A combination of M and (II) should unite the positive properties of both of them. The thermoplasticity of (1) is explained by its linear structure so that by a copolymerization of phenol and aniline with formaldehyde resins solidifying by heating are obtained (Ref 3)- in order to ascertain that they are products of polymerization and no physical mixture, solution tests in alcohol were carried out, and it was confirmed that it is a chemical compound in which phenol and aniline are combiZied through the methylene groups. An increase in the aniline content leads to a prolongation of Card 1/2 the hardening time, i. e. to a reduction of the Ccmposite Phenol-ani line -f ormald ehyde Resins for SOV/64-59-1-9/24 Synthetic Materials and Laminated Materials thermoreactivation (Table) which also occurs at an increase in the content of formaldehyde (Table). The electric-insulation properties of the synthetic material are greatl,/ influenced by the filler. Purified types of amphibole asbestos are recommended as most suitable filling matter. Checking data of the electric-insulation and mechanical properties of synthetic-material mixtures obtained by a rolling process are indicated (Table). The synthetic materials were obtained from 40 ~ phenol-aniline-formaldehyde resins and 60 ~ filling matter (2 parts of glass fiber + 1 part of purified amphibole asbestos ). The data show that with an increase in the aniline content the specific electric resistance of the synthetic material rises and tgX as well as the thermal resistivity according to Martens and the specific impact strength fall. Experiments have shown that tgs of "getinaks" of the Gv brand (GOST 2718-54) made of resins with 25 % aniline at frequencies of 10 6 cycles has a maximum value of 0-0349, and that of getinaks ( Ifpertinax") made of resins with 50 % aniline has a maximum of 0.001.
