ABSTRACT: -The machine parts made of various alumiWum alloys frequently contain do-
fects in.the form of cavities, pores, poor-penetration, discontinuities, etc. Thzese
defects are revealed in the process of the machining of alloy castings. Normally, the
larger defects are welded up by means of soldering, electric arc welding, and gas
welding. In this connection, the authors present the resulke of an experimental
development of a new method of correcting defacts in AL-5 faluminum alloy castings by
means of argon arc welding before as wall an after heat treatment. Specimens of this
alloy, measuring 200x26Oxl5-20 mm, were butt-welded with a 90* groove angle and,
thereupon, subjected to heat treatment: slow heating for 2-3 hr to a hardening tempo

rature of 520-525% with exposure to this temperature for 3-5 hr; quenching in water
heated to 20-100*C; tempering at 230*C for 3-10 hr. The welded joints were tested
for impact strength and fatigue strength and hardness, and were microatructurally
examined. On the basia of these investigations, the technology of correcting defects
in thermally hardened AL-5 castings was developed. The defective area must be cut
out of the metal and the resulting cavity caref-ully el aned and, thereupon, welded
up by means of the UDAR-300 argon arc welding m3chine~lwith the welding current
being selected as a function of wall thickness (e.g. 200-230 a for a 10 mm thick wall
against 270-300 a for a 40 mm thick wall. AK aml D-20 wire electrodes are recommended
.as the optimal filler material. The introductici of this method reduces to a large
extent the percentaSe of defective castings and produces a considerable econonic ef-

Abstract :Rate were given 3 - 5 M Curie Na24 subcutaneously and
destrged 5 min. - 12 hours later. The greater part
of Na was found in the bones., skin, kidneys; lesa in
liver and muscle. The highest concentration of Na24
was observed after 30 minutes. In the bones, however,
the Na24 contents remained constant for 12 houn - In
adronalectomized ratop the distribution character of Na24
is analoSouB, but it disappears from the tissues faster.

ABSTRACT: In the present paper the authors inv^stigated the reaction
velocity, the impurities, the time, as well as the temperature
and the pressure of the reaction gases, and the nature of the
solvents on the course of the synthesis and the yield of the
carbonyl compounds of molybdenum and tungsten. The synthesis
of molybdenum carbonyl lasted 2-3 hours, the synthesis of
tungsten carbonyl 1-1,5 hours. Tungsten carbonyl is,produced
with a yield of 81-85% at a reaction temperature of 32-670. The
production of the carbonyl compounds of tungsten and molybdenum
is usually carried out at 50 atmospheres absolute pressure.
Experiments were carried cut to produce molybdenum carbonyl
under a pressure of 20-30 atmospheres exoess CO-pressure. Zinc
Card 1/2 powder and aluminum powder were used as reducing agents. If

aluminum is used as reducing agent the yield of molybdenum
carbonyl amounts to 0,6% at 180C, 1,3~ at 1000C, 9% at 1500C
and 100 atmospheres excess pressure. If iron powder is used
as reducing agent, the yield of molybdenum carbonyl amounts to
1,5% at 1000C. If zinc is used as reducing agent, the yield of
molybdenum carbonyl is not higher than 6,6%. Mainly zinc powder
is used as reducing agent for the production of tungsten carbonyl.
The yield amounts to 85%. It was shown that for the production
of carbonyl compounds ether in a quantity of not more than
2 g-mol to 1 g-mol metal chloride is necessary.

ABSTRAOT: It has been found that molybdenum hexacarbonyl is formed in a
maximum yield of 28-5% by the interaction between iron penta-
carbonyl and molybdenum pentachloride in th- presence of
hydrogen chloride under a carbon monoxide pressure in an ether
medium. Molybdenum hexacarbonyl. is formed in a 15% yield at
1750 in the presence of compressed hydrogen in an ethyl ether
medium. Molybdenum carbonyl is formed in a yield of 23.4% at
1750 when the reaction in performed in an autoclave with
hydrogen (initial pressure 100 atmospheres) and carbon monoxide
(initial pressure 50 atmospheres). There are 2 tables and

ABSTRACT: The frequency characteristics of most pen-writing recorder systems (~S.100 cpo
present difficulties in recording phonocardiograms (PKG's), whose high-frequency com- I
ponents are subject to distortion. To avoid these difficulties, the authors propose al
phase-rotation device with the following characteristics: 1) from the input signal tinei
circuit forms two output signals with a pcase difference of 90' for all frequency com-i
ponents; 2) output phase characteristics are in logarithmic dependence on frequency; i
3) amplitude-frequency characteristics are straight and parallel to the frequency axir.;!
4) working frequency ranges are from'20 to 300 and from 60 to goo cps; 5) the accuracy
of phase rotation is 12'. This system will record only the geometrical envelope of
the PKG signal, which gives full information an the form, amplitude, and duration of
sound signals and is sufficient for clinical analysis of PKGs. The idea of using
envelopes in medical electronics is not new, ond the drawbacks of envelope'recording
