(Engineer; Moscow) 41y, ORG: none Z TITLE: Correction of defects in thermally hardeved-castins-of AL-3 aluminum-MiLLOY SOURCE: A:vtomaticheakaya avarke, no. 10, 1965, 63 -66 TOPIC TAGS: aluminum alloy, metal casting, repair welding, metal defect, are weldlng~ AL-3 aluminum.alloy ABSTRACT: -The machine parts made of various alumiWum alloys frequently contain do- fects in.the form of cavities, pores, poor-penetration, discontinuities, etc. Thzese defects are revealed in the process of the machining of alloy castings. Normally, the larger defects are welded up by means of soldering, electric arc welding, and gas welding. In this connection, the authors present the resulke of an experimental development of a new method of correcting defacts in AL-5 faluminum alloy castings by means of argon arc welding before as wall an after heat treatment. Specimens of this alloy, measuring 200x26Oxl5-20 mm, were butt-welded with a 90* groove angle and, thereupon, subjected to heat treatment: slow heating for 2-3 hr to a hardening tempo Card 1/2 UDC:. 621.791.019 ACC NRt APS026296 rature of 520-525% with exposure to this temperature for 3-5 hr; quenching in water heated to 20-100*C; tempering at 230*C for 3-10 hr. The welded joints were tested for impact strength and fatigue strength and hardness, and were microatructurally examined. On the basia of these investigations, the technology of correcting defects in thermally hardened AL-5 castings was developed. The defective area must be cut out of the metal and the resulting cavity caref-ully el aned and, thereupon, welded up by means of the UDAR-300 argon arc welding m3chine~lwith the welding current being selected as a function of wall thickness (e.g. 200-230 a for a 10 mm thick wall against 270-300 a for a 40 mm thick wall. AK aml D-20 wire electrodes are recommended .as the optimal filler material. The introductici of this method reduces to a large extent the percentaSe of defective castings and produces a considerable econonic ef- fect. Orig. art. has: 4 figures, 4 tables. In the first series the subject was asked to anticipate a painful stimulus a' a ;given moment,, and in the second sories the subject was as1cod to reproduce mentally a very painful situation knowing for certain that Ino pain stimulus would follow, During the experimnt the subject was ated in a dark chamber with eyes closed and was required to remain C6.rd 1/3 :.ACCESSION NR: AP4031817 i ~abGOIMOIY motionleaso After the subject adapted to darkness, norrua,: ono E G., EKG, and skin galvanic reflexes were recorded* Then roacti ',were recorded for the-20 sec period when the subject was asked to i.lAnticipate a pain stimulus at a given moment and for the followine 20 isec period when the subject was asked to reproduce mentally a very 'painful situation, Findings show that voluntarily evoked emotion !especially by those well trained in Stanislavokiy mothods,, produce more significant EEG, EKG, and skin galvanic reflex shifts than the ticipation of a real pain stimulus. Investigation of the complex an linteraction of activating and inhibiting mechanisms, based on an i !automatic frequency analysis of M and recorded vegetative functionap" iindicates that effects of a sympathetic nature lead to an increase of fast waves and effects of a parasympathetic nature lead to an I:intensification of EEG slow waves, Shifts related to actual fear are 'Probably less pronounced because of inhibitory effects including those of a parasympathetic nature, Orig, arto has: 3 figs- ASSOCIATION:..Institut vy*sahey nervnoy dayatellnosti i noyrofiziologU akademii nauk SSSR (Institute of Higher Nervous Activity and Neuro- Physiology# Academy of Sciences USSR) :41,d.-.72/3 ACCESSION Mi 'AP4O- SUBMITTE6: 21mar63 zNcr,: oo SUB CODE t La In REP SOV-0 004 OTMM: 008 VAUJYEVAP MY it, --;, Stabilization of the maximal ej-,plitude of the ~11-rhythm during, the action of a conditioned signal. This was ascribed-in part ot the rapid growth of the industry, whose output however, is still too small. Several new factories are to be built and existing ones reconstructed. There was one report an international standardiza- tion and most of the other papers were con- cerned with descriptions of particular in- Card 2/4 struments or with improving quality of 85 TITLE: Report on the Inter-Republic Conference on the Development of a National Electrical Instrument Industry. The Conference noted that suc- cess had been achieved, but that there is still a great shortage of general instruments, that the existing range does not meet all the re- quirements with respect to range, accuracy, sensitivity, frequency range, etd., and that many instruments are very large and heavy. P. __ TITLE: of Molybdenum and The Production of the Carbonyl Compounds Tungsten (Polucheniye karbcnilov molibdena i vollframa) PETaODICAL: Zhurnal neorganicheskoy khimii, 1958, Vol 3, Nr 11, pp 2433-2436 (USSR) ABSTRACT: In the present paper the authors inv^stigated the reaction velocity, the impurities, the time, as well as the temperature and the pressure of the reaction gases, and the nature of the solvents on the course of the synthesis and the yield of the carbonyl compounds of molybdenum and tungsten. The synthesis of molybdenum carbonyl lasted 2-3 hours, the synthesis of tungsten carbonyl 1-1,5 hours. Tungsten carbonyl is,produced with a yield of 81-85% at a reaction temperature of 32-670. The production of the carbonyl compounds of tungsten and molybdenum is usually carried out at 50 atmospheres absolute pressure. Experiments were carried cut to produce molybdenum carbonyl under a pressure of 20-30 atmospheres exoess CO-pressure. Zinc Card 1/2 powder and aluminum powder were used as reducing agents. If SOV/78-3-11-1/23 The Production of the Carbonyl Compounds of Molybdenum and Tungsten aluminum is used as reducing agent the yield of molybdenum carbonyl amounts to 0,6% at 180C, 1,3~ at 1000C, 9% at 1500C and 100 atmospheres excess pressure. If iron powder is used as reducing agent, the yield of molybdenum carbonyl amounts to 1,5% at 1000C. If zinc is used as reducing agent, the yield of molybdenum carbonyl is not higher than 6,6%. Mainly zinc powder is used as reducing agent for the production of tungsten carbonyl. The yield amounts to 85%. It was shown that for the production of carbonyl compounds ether in a quantity of not more than 2 g-mol to 1 g-mol metal chloride is necessary. Molybdenum hexacarbonyl. is formed in a 15% yield at 1750 in the presence of compressed hydrogen in an ethyl ether medium. Molybdenum carbonyl is formed in a yield of 23.4% at 1750 when the reaction in performed in an autoclave with hydrogen (initial pressure 100 atmospheres) and carbon monoxide (initial pressure 50 atmospheres). To avoid these difficulties, the authors propose al phase-rotation device with the following characteristics: 1) from the input signal tinei circuit forms two output signals with a pcase difference of 90' for all frequency com-i ponents; 2) output phase characteristics are in logarithmic dependence on frequency; i 3) amplitude-frequency characteristics are straight and parallel to the frequency axir.;! 4) working frequency ranges are from'20 to 300 and from 60 to goo cps; 5) the accuracy of phase rotation is 12'. This system will record only the geometrical envelope of the PKG signal, which gives full information an the form, amplitude, and duration of sound signals and is sufficient for clinical analysis of PKGs. The idea of using envelopes in medical electronics is not new, ond the drawbacks of envelope'recording Card 1/2 UDC: 616-12-073.4 L 47294-66 AP~~j2012 lor low-frequency processes have been described.
