This article discusses a proposed new method of treating field crops
with poisonous chemicals, whereby liquids in which the chemicals are con-
centrated (oil solutions, emulsions, suspensions], are atomized and
propelled into the atmosphere in a powerful Jet of air. The stream of
airp carrying with it the drops of the liquid, rises into the air to
some height, after which the drops settle over the area which is to be
treated.

In 1955) -the Wecow Station for the Protection of Plants# with V, F"
Dun5kiy in charge of the physicotechnical and A. D. Vaniyev of the toxi-
cological parts of the work, conducted experiments to determine the
,effectiveness of this method of applying poisonous chemicals to plants.
The manner of the distribution of the liquids over the area treated and
the comparative size of the drops when propelled in vertical, horizontal,
or 450 angle streams were investigated. Aerosol equipment EAU-1 mounted
on a two-wheel trailer was utilized for the experiments. The liquid was
atomized by air forced by a compressor through the opening of a Venturi
nozzle. The liquid was fed into the nozzle through four tubes by means
of a pump. The opening of the nozzle was 80 millimeters in diameter; the
velocity of the air in the narrow section of the nozzle was 125 m/sec;
the volume of the air used was 575 M3/hr; the quantity of the liquid used
was 5 liters a minute. The drops varied in size from 50 to 300 microns.
The experiments established the effectiveness of this method of
eradicating harnful insects. They also established that the vertical
stream was the cost effective and economical.

Abstract: In an experimental aerosol set-up the liquid disper-
slon was done with air (without heating) forced
through a Venturi cap by a compressor. The liquid
was conveyed into the narrow section of the cap with
a gear pump and broken up into small drops. The
treatment was carriedout by the aid of a side wind.
When the stream was horizontal the oily solution
settled irregularly in a belt 30 m width; when the
stream was vertical the stream was distributed in a

Abstract The aerosol generators AG-Lb are provided with removable
revolving angular nozzle', which the liquid breaks up
into small drops of the air which moves with a speed of
130 m per second. The stream of the formed mist is direc-
ted upwards, obliquely or horizontally, depending upon the
required width of the area. Wherever fine aerial spraying
is employed, the generator with the nozzle can be used,
applying the same chemicahs and rates of outlay, as for
example, in the control of pests of sugar beets, of

tive capacity of the generator is 4 ha per hour. In tic
control of cabbage pests the effective rUbe of tho outlay
of an 8% DDT solution in diesel fuel is only 7-6 liters
per hectore, and the area covered at a vertical blast is

'ABSTRACT: An equation of the motion of electrons is set up and Investigated
assuming apace charge negligible and regarding pumping as a small disturbance. It
is found that all electrons that travel in a quadrupole pumping region are phase-
focused (they are pulled toward one of two most stable jr-separated phases). The
power gain is largely determined by the input-signal to pumping -signAl phase
relation; the corresponding formula can be reduced to that developed by R. Kronart

close to one-half the pumping frequency. In this case, instead of a separate study

ABSTRACT: The use of enamel ppLintd~'for protecting military equipment
from corrosion is discussed. In general, such VI-lamels as PKhV-69Aj5
chlorineted polyv 1?. iy! chloride enamels, ZIS-508'and ZIS-507 nitro-
enamels or NPF-10 nit rope ntapht'halic ena.Eeils -are employed. The ZIS-506
iand ZIS-507 have a lower corrosion resistance than-the other trademarks.~
f1t was reoommended to use, for militsry equipment, only high corrosion-
resistine-anamelg of khaki color made on a chlorinated polyvinyl c or-
'ide base's' Trademarks PYhV-512, K~h~V-UtW~PW-10V and PKhV-69A were re-
commended. Due to their fire-res a ant properties�'-5'they viere used for
painting wooden surfaces. Thei adhesion to me~Ea-l- surfaces is rather
low. A preliminary careful oleaning and priming of metal surfaces was
