Abstract: Data from 1000 cases: difficulty of bacteriologic diagnosis from
sputum versus pleural punctate; data about use Qf bulfonamides and various
antibiotics 1945-1962; stress on qualitative rather than quantitative
responsivity to penicillin, i.e. if disease does not respond to small doses
of penicillin it will not respead to that antibiotic regardless of increase
in dosage; discussion of the need for prolonged and combined treatment In
children with complicating factors such as rickets, cardiac or other
malformations, severe malnutrition.

In the years 1941-1957 there were 382 caseb of abacterial neuroinfections (not inclu-

Since 1953 the leptospirae have constituted 70% of the meningitis, and sine.- 1057 all
the serous meningitides could be explained aetiologically. On closer discussion of
the 150 cases o! leptospirusis in children. it appeared that 148 of them were bathing
infections, coming as a summer season illness, and almost exclusively in boys of
school age, several of the epidemics due exclusively to bathing beiag from pollution
of the water by pig sties. In the first week there was a rise of presoure in the CSF,

ABSTRACT: A theorem of Basu lRef 11 assertst If 9 is a random variable

constructive, but it demands certain assumptions on the
distributions. The author proves only the existener, of the

it is shown that there doei not exist a non-denumerable set of

TITLE: Electronic device for determining the resonance frequency
of turbine blades by the forced resonance method
PERIODICALt Energeticap v. 8, no. 3, 1960, 114 - 117
TEXT: The authors describe the "Turbotest" device constructed by SREB
and used for measuring the natural frequency of turbine blade vibrations.
This portable device contains all the elements required for measuring
the resonance frequency by the forced resonance method. The component
parts are assembled into four units, each of which can also be used se-
parately. These units are mounted on four different inter-connected chas-
sis. The "Turbotest" consist of 1) the joint chassis for the net trans-
former, the rectifiers, the power amplifier and the low-frequency oscilla-
tor; 2) the oscilloscope unit)containing the two chassis of the two de-
flecting amplifiers, the ray deflecting oscillator chassis, and the tube
armature; 3) the chassis of the electronic volt-meter, fitted to the front

plate above the measuring instruments; and 4) the front plate containing
the switching and control elements, as well as the measuring instrument of
the electronic volt-meter, the cathode tube screen and the dial of the low-
frequency oscillator. The wiring diagram of the device is shown in Fig. 3.
The device is fed through a cable plugged to the terminal at the back of
the apparatus. The exciter and the transducer are connected by a flexible
cable to two special jacks on the front panel. To permit interference
suppression, the internal connections of the device are performed by bars
provided with terminals, at which all necessary measurings may be accom-
plished. The connections are made to allow the separation of each chassis
and the removal of the corresponding unit in order to suppress interference
without breaking the connections. The author describes the structure and
operational principle of each unit. The octode-type electronic tubes are
of Soviet origin, except the STV 150/40 voltage stabilizer mi -be AZ 41 rec-
tifiers for the accelerating potential of the oscilloscope. The technical
data of the "Turbotest" device are: sensitivity of the oscilloscope,

ABSTRACT Sheen were treated with pregnant maro serum
(FMS) with various ratios of.gonadotropic
factors: follicle-stimulating (A) and lutel-
nizing (B), during a period of anestrus.
(April-14ay). P14S, was administered uubouta-
neous17 in a dose of lP300 mouse units up to
three times. It was established that the ma-
jority of sheep came in heat and were Larpreg
nated after the second injection of PMS. Out
of the treated sheep, 64.9% came in heat.
