Abstract Description of caaposition, properties and therapeutic
action of grape juice. For preservation it is reconmen-
ded to pasteurize (for 30 minutes at 65-700 or 15 minu-
tes at 75-800) the filtered juice, or to store it either
at 2-30 or under C02 pressure (7-8 atmospheres), and
bottle the juice several months later. Small amounts
of juice are bottled immediately after pasteurizin,, and
subjected to sterilization thereafter (30 minutes, 70-
750)-

ABSTRACT: The author describes the use of tubular
filtering blocks, made from porous concrete,
during the construction of the Stalingrad
Hydro-Electric Power Plant. These blocks were
prepared from sifted crubled stones with the
aluminous cement of the 400 mark (75 cm long,
external diameter - 35 cm,internal diameter -
15 cml Each block was tested for filtration.

side the block. A determined amount of water
(294 cu m in 2L~ hours) was then poured into
the block. If, at the end of the experiment,
the height of -.~he water column did not exceed
50 cm, the block was good for use because its
filtration coefficient (according to the for-

The Installation of a Vertical Drainage
from Porous Concrete
After drilling the hole not less than 2 m
deep, the tubular blocks were placed in-
side the drive-pipe and held together with
a felt padding impregnated vrith dissolved
bitumen. After the drive pipes were ex-
tracted, the empty space was filled with
coarse-grained sand. The interior of the
blocks was then washed with a powerful
ejector pump and after that the inside was
filled urith gravel. There are 2 diagrams,
1 photo, 1 graph and 1 table.

TITLE.- The heat of formation of the n-butyl eater of di,-n,-
butyl boric acid

TEXT: The authors determined the standard heat of combustion of
di-n-butyl boric acid and of the n-butyl ester and its heat of for-
mation, based on the value of the heat of formation of B2 0 3' pub-
liched recently in Western literature. ( L'Bu)2 B-On-Bu was obtained
by a method previously described by the authorEo Calorimetric tests
were carried out with r-.)Oo4 g of the substancey under 25 atm. of 0 2
Full experimental details are giveng as well as the methods used
for determining the combustion products. Some side reactions take
place. The authors introduced corrections to their results, based
on the following assumptions: a) The tiny black spots of incomplete

combustion consist of B4 C and C; b) B203 i3 hydrated during the
main comb~.stion process to boric acid; c) H20 formed during combus-
tion is used partly in the hydration process and partly to form a
saturated solution of boric acid. d) The small amount of water
(0.9 g) introduced into the calorimeter before combustion in some
experiments does not take part in the solution process. The experi-
mental results are given in a table and it is seen that with the
above corrections the results are the same with added water as in
its absence. The heat of formation of traces of HNOV heats of hy-
dration and solution and those of incomplete combustion were allow-
ed for. It has been found that the heat of combustion of the ester
was equal. to -2040.7 � 1 Kcal/mol under conditions of the combust-
ion experiment, and to -2045.7 � 1 Kcal/mol under standard condi-
tiona,, The heat of formation of the ester was calculated as -.156.1
