on the Hall Effect. The operational principle of these

a magnetic signal carrier (magnetic tape, drum, or
disc) is lead by mean3 of a magnetic circuit to a
Hall pick-up. An emf E proportional to the residual
flux is then generated at the output of the pick-tip,

ABSTRLM The changes of the physical parameters indicating the general oonditiorm
( teWerature, viscosity and others) have exercised great inf luenoe upon
the measuring results, which will lead to a change in the propagation
speed of ultrasonic oscillations in such a milieu and consequently to a
non-stability in the indications of the measuring apparatus fig. 1). The
use of the method of comparing the frequencies of repetition of the rec.
tangular impulses in the apparatus for the measuring of ultrasonic speed
makes possible the elimination of speed in the final result and thus an
exclusion of the influence caused by the physical milieu parameters
mentioned above. The principle of measuring the speed of flow by means of
the application of the method of oa"rison consists in the fact that the
sine-shaped electric oscillations of relatively high frequencies are led
to two irradiation transformers installed upon the tube. The ultrasonic
oscillations are sent simultaneously into two directions by these trans-
formers: with the current of the fluid milieu, and against the current.

oscillations are taken up by receiver-transformers 3 and 4 and again
transformed into electric oscillations. In the formulae I to 11 the
mathematical relations are given, which show that the indications of the
measuring apparatus are independent of the propagation speed of the
ultrasonic oscillations in the milieu. In this way the influence of a
change of the physical parameters of the milieu upon the measuring re-
sult is excluded. In fig. 2 the block scheme of a consumption meter is
shown, whose task it is to generate aeries of high-frequency oscillations
-which have the as= duration as the propagation time of the ultrasonic
oscillations from the emitter to the receiver. Its operation is deacrib6d
in detail. Furthermore, an example is shown and calculated. There are
