TEXT: The author describes the design of a new mechanical instrument,
graphical transformer, intended to replace the cumbersome and expensivFj photo-
transformer. The proposed instrument differs from the existent mechanical trans-
formers by lesser dimensions and weight. A photograph-remains horizontal during
transforming,, in spite of the presence of an inclination angle during photo-
graphing, and the bundle of rays in the instrument is reproduced in the hori-
zontal plane by means of two rules. The theory of the instrument operation and
the schematic diagram of its design are presented.

TEM This is a description of a stereoscopic perspect-graph, designed by
the author, who received author's certificate no. 127819 published in
"Byulleten' izobreteniy", no. 8, 1960, for it. The device is based or- the
Jnciple of mechanical intersection. The airphoto is fixed horizontally
pri .1.
in the device and does not move, thus simplifying its mechanical and optical
parts. It is designed for reconstructing airphotos (negativc?s or diaposi-
tives) with different focal lengths, especially those obtained by planimet-
xic air surveying with axial angles of up to 200 and with any focal length
of the camera. The theory of the device is as follows: Fig. I shows the
front- and end-views of the airphoto P with a focal length f and with the
angle of inclination vf. . Points A, 0, C, N and B on the terrain E corre-
spond to points a, o, c, n and b on the photo. A horizontal plane T1 is

traced through the equal-angle point (metapole) and prolonged until it in-
tersects the main optical axis of the airphoto SO at point o 1* A correction
plane K parallel to the photo P ia traced through the point olo The photn
P is then projected onto the plane K by the method of central projection,
with the projection center at S. The thus obtained projection is larger
than the initial photo P. The already mentioned points are marked on the
