Title: Improving the Quality of Carbide Lime
Original
Periodical: Stavivol 1956, Vol 34, No 6, 216-217 (in Czech; summaries in German
and Russian)
Abstract: Carbide lime., -which is used as a substitute for the customary slaked
lime, presents a number of shortcomings (higher moisture content,
carbonization of the fiu-face layers, etc) which can be removed by
the addition of marl eha'le and calcining at 8000. The addition of
cement is also desirable.

cement by air-slaked lime decreases the strength
of concrete under ordinary conditions of harden-
ing, but has a beneficial effect on hardening in
in autoclaves. The amount of water in the con-
crete mix must be sufficient to make possible the
enclosing of every grain of slag by cement mortar.
Addition of CaCl2..q up to 3%, increases the strength
of concrete following a hardening for 24 hours and
for 23 days. Heating of concrete articles at
800 also increases sharply their strength, es-
pecially during the first 24 hours of hardening.

TRANSLATION: A circuit for group excitation of alternators in which each alternator-
exciter has a master regulator, whose reference level is controlled by the reference
voltage of a secondary regulator of the integratin6 type Is discussed. Both regulator
are connected to the voltage changer of the alternator and fed by an internal feed
line, characterized by the fact that at the constant voltage source in each secondary
regulator a potentiometer is connected in series with a fixed resistor which serves fo
the generation of the reference voltage. The reference voltage removed from the po-
tentiometer arm and from the constant voltage supply of the secondary regulator is ap-
plied to the fixed resistor. All reference voltages of the individual secondary reg-
ulators are connected in parwllel but each potentiometer arm is connected with the in-
terconnectingwire by a switch.

TRIMSIATION: The control element for the magnetic voltage regulator has a three-
phase alternator voltage whichl Vaen rectified by the first rectifier, generates vol-
tage directly proportional to the alternator terminal voltage on the first resistor.
At a conjugate, the alternator voltage is connected in series with another rectifier
of the winding of the differential transducer, whose one control winding is bridged
by a variable resistor. The current rectified by the second rectifier is fed to one
control winding of the transducer whose working current, rectified by the third rec-
tifier, passes through the second. resistor where it generates a reference voltage
which is subtracted from the metered voltage an the first resistor. The second coa-
trol winding of the two transducers is connected in series and fed by a fourth rec-

ternating end. The stator of the booster is connected in parallel v-4th a condenser
which is in resonance with the rotor. The booster stator and condenser are fed by
an alternating current of constant amplitude. A change in the booster displacement
is accompanied by a change in the control current of bath transducers and, conse-
quently, in the reference voltage an the second resistor.

TME: Dielectric losses In ionic crystals with impurities
PERIODICAL: Referativnyy zhurnal, Fizika, no. 11, 1962, 29 - 30,
abstract lIE244 ("3b. Pe 'dag. Inst. Praze. PHrodnl v6dy",
1961, 1, 159 - 170, Czech; summaries in Russian and Germ-an)
TEXT: Dielectric losses in ionic crystals with impurities were measured,
and an attempt was made to explain these losses. First, the theory of Debye was
used, leading to a very rough agreement with experimental data. Later, a model
of polarization mechanism was introduced, assuming the existence of so-called
complexes, i.e. pairs of connected lattice defects (impurity ion - vacancy) with
a dipole moment. From these representations, -two correlations were derived for
the losses (the tangent of the angle of losses), namely for the losses caused
by the motion of incoherent vacancies, and for the losses caused by ralaxatJon
of the mentioned dipole complexes.

Abstract During the traasition to the refining of juice with a
decreased quantity of lime, the thickness of the layer
of flocculants over the molasses in the tank was raised
from 10-30-cm to 0.5-3 m. With the Purpose of isola-

sprayed with water and after each spraying the liquid
that collects in the bottom of the vessel after the
precipitation of the flocculants was drawn off, for the

From the flocculants saved, a sediment of a Gray-blue
color is separated out, vIiile the flocculants themselves
become ash-grey. Data of analyses of sediments in the
years 1935 and 1941 are cited; they eonsist in great
part of separations from sap during boiling of Ca salts.
During the analyses, oils of light benzine fractions
were extracted; for' the division an acid dried substan-
ce RCI was separated, filtrated and washed in a filter,
after which the higher oily acids were washed out from
the valls of the vessels,, the sediment and filtrate with
petroleum ether. From the sediment, after drying, the
saponin acid was washed out with heated alcohol. Then
