"Modification by Ionizing Radiation of the Central Nei-lous Reac-
tivity to Stimulating Drugs."
Prague, Activitas Nervosa Superior, Vol 5, No 4v 1963, PP 346 -
351
Abstract:(j%uthors' English Abstract) A study was made of the ef-
Nct or-d ugs stimulating the CITS in mice, rats, and rabbits dur-
:tng 6 days at"ter irradiation with a mean lethal dose of X-rays.
It was found that nice showed a loi..,ered intravenous toxicity and
increased convulsion to a lethal dose of pentazol, per-tazol t-reat-
oil rats hail a lowered motor activity after an original hyperac-
tivity, and rabbits showed shortening of the pentazol ECoG chang-
es. Some rats developed a defensive conditioned reflex under
standard conditibns. These were improved by eaffein, rnethyl-
phenyldat, benzedrine. Radiation probably does not aflf'ectu in
a special way definite processes, but probably disturbs energet-
ic metabolism. 3 Pigures, 2 Tables, 5 Western, 5 Czech, 12 Russian,

"Use of Modular Universal Impulse Unit in Electrophysiology.11
Prague, Ceskoslovenska Fysiologie, Vol 12, No 4, July 19631 pp 279-282.
Abstract: Description of device compos ed of 6 functional units, essentially
generator, rectifier, selector, modulator and recorder. The primary use of
this impulse generator is transient stimulation with derivative and 90*
impulses whose intensity or amplitude can be changed independently. Several
applications are described, including study of frog ischiadic nerve action
potential dependency on amplitude of stimulatory Impulse. Seven graphs,
electrical schematic diagram, 2 diagrams, 1 photograph; 5 Czech references.

ABSTRACT: This Is the text of a lectare presented at a Seminar of the Con=Ission for Cyber-

q, W-rlS A dev:Lce for cutting crystals of any thickn4se by
means of a mov:.ng. fine wire electrode has been develop4d. The
orientation of the crystal planes are determined by the optical
method. The dl~sadvantage of this method, that only a ft,w major
crystallographiLc planes can be determined optically whilst the
-accuracy of del;ermining othor planes Is limited by the e-ccuracy
of the goniomel-.er. is eliminated almost entirely by ori(tnting
ihe crystal directly in the cutting mpparatus; this is
particularly s:.mple when using the optical method. The developed
elactrospark--catter has built-in optical equipment for vrienting
the si-ngle cryistala. On the metal Cc-&me -1 (Pig. 1) tLere, is

Abstract: aqueous sol'ution at 1000 C, and at different pH.,
this decomposition in alkali medium taken! ace
according to the following equation: 2N'.0. +
+ H20 = N20 + Me + ZOH-,, and in acid medium to
the equation: N2032- + ZH+ = ZNO + H20. A gas
analysis for the rate of decomposition of the solu-
tIon3 of I at ZOO C, and 550 C,, and their rate of
oxidation at ZOO C, depending on the pH. Indicated
that I Is stable In a strong alkali medium, but by
decreasing the alkalinity Its stability also de-
creases. As the result of hydrolysis, the stable
N2032. anion 13 converted Into the unstable HN203-
anion, which upon rupture of the N-N bond decom-
poses readily according to the following equation;

Abstrict: IDW3" HNO + NO2-o This dec Iomposition was inves-
tigated photometrically; the reaction of the HNO(NO-)
anion with Kz[Ni(CN)41 to form the colored anion
[Na(CN),N012- was studied, The HNO, formed Initially
In the absence of air, Is further decomposed by N Z0 +
+ HkO; with air It is oxidized pr 'Imarily to HN02;
NO - Is the only oxidation product of 1. The for-
mailon of the HNZO? dimer of HNO was not observed,
Based on the formation of the unstable HNO from the
decomposition of 1, several properties of I can be
eXplained: In the reaction of I with Ag+ . the cor-
responding silver sale Is not formed because the
H40 Is oxidized by Ag to NO* In a similar way one
