TITLE-, Compiling tables of constant action tides on cal- culating perforated-tape machines PERIODICAL. Referativ-hyy zhurnal. Avtomatika i radioelektronika, no. 5. 1961, 32, abstract 5 B229 (Tr. Gos. okeanogr. in-ta, 1960, no. 531 59-103) TOCT: Compiling tables of constant action on calculating-perfor- ated tape machines is a complex process requiring many operations. A simplification of this process can be obtained by introducing several improvements into the construction of tabulators T-5 and of an electronic computer D5-80-3 (EV-80-3) which extend the range of their exploration. The use of calculating.perforated-tape machines for compiling-tide tables reduced considerably the material and time waste when compared with manual work and the use of keyboard calcula.ting.machines-. The use of perforated-tape calculating ma- Card 1/2 28 20h S/194/61/000/005/019/078 .-ompiling tables... D201/L)303 chines to solve this problem is more reasonable, compared with the use of a fast electronic computer such as "Strela". This is due to the fact that in the process of compilation much basic material has to be used for a comparatively small number of resulting data, together with a complex grouping of intermediate results. For all above operations tlie I'Strela" computer efficiency is low. 10 f' - ures., 3 references,, Z-Abstracter's note: Complete translation Card 2/2 V, Y PHASE I BOOK EXPLOITATION SOV/4742 Moscow. Problem of Seasonal Oscillation in the Level of the World Ocean 104 The author presents the results of Investigations of the seasonal oscillation in sea level according to IGY and other data. Card J Trar-actions of the State Oceanographic Institute, No. 53 SM/4742 Determination of the harmonic constant of the solar anrual wave (Sa) and the solar semi-nmial wave (B ) was used as the basis of a method for investigating the seasonal oaffilation in sea level. Analysis of harmonic con tants suggests that the seasonal oscillation in sea level has common features at different points of similar circulation zones. Within the limits of those zones.. the intra-annual changes in the seasonal oscillation of the sea level are analogous in all points. The author states that the analysis of the oscillation in steric sea level was based on limited data. With increased data,, such an analysis should be helpful for the investigation of the dynamic processes of the oceans. Though the 1956 building quota was exceeded by 15 per cent and altogether over 15,000 square meters of dwellings were opened for occupancy, i.e. 13.5% more than in 1955, construction cost is still too high (from 1,500 to 2,000 rubles per square meter) and very often complete overhaul of the houses must be done right after occupants move in. A photo by L. Levin shows commander Petr Nikolayevich Shullzhenko with his family: he moved Into a new house and purchased a television set. Comrade Zhigarev, chief of the Main Administration of GVF was the main spokesman at the Congress. The personnel of Commander Kosenko's unit (Gorlkiy) built a 12-apartment house of their own. In the same manner, twelve 4-apartment houses and two 8-apartment ones are being built at Irkutsk. AVAILABLE: Library of Congress Card: 1 VIN TOTTSIKHOVBKff. If iron, copper, zinc, tin, etc. are present, gallium nrast be separated first. This maybe accomplished in two ways, viz. by precipitation with pyridine with aluminum as collector, or by ex- tracting the gallium tetrachloride s7ith ether. Processes of analy- sis for both methods are given as well as two tables showing the results obtained. Titanium can be removed by hydrogen peroxide, whereas aluminum, indium, lead, cadmium and manganese do not disturt the precipitation of gallium with 5.7-dibromoxyquinoline. For mass analysis the method vrith pyridine is the more favorable because of the repeated ether extraction necessary in the case of the other method. In this manner it is possible also to determine gallium In VwW640 anode alloys. There are 4 tables, and 9 references, 5 of which are ~_Z'f V / C MZARMO, VoA,; VIIIKOVZTSKAYA, S.Ya. These methodsp however, have a comparatively low sensitivity, besides iron the complete separation of which is not always simple mostly is disturbing. Seeking for more sensitive and specific meth- ods for determini,.g small amounts of gallium the authors in- vestigated several reagents which were described by Poluektov and Kiseleva (Ref lo).
