RABBITS WITH EXPERIMENTALLY INDUCED DERMATITIS, FOLLOWING
CERTAIN INFLUENCES ON THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM (Russian
text) - Vinokurov 1. N. VESTN.VENER.DERM. 1956. 5 (16-18)
-were performed on 19 rabbits with experimental dermatitis and 4
Experiments
healthy animals (controls). Skin temperature and motor chronaxle in the front
paws were measured. A skin biopsy was taken at the end of the functional investiga-
tions. The results of these observations showed a small reflex rise in akin temper-
ature and mild inflammatory manifestations at sites symmetrical to the lesion.
Stimulation of inhibitory or excitatory processes of the cerebral cortex in the
experimental animals led to functional and even histo-morphological changes in
the skin. (S)

ABSTRACTs That there are still many deficiencies and unsolved questions
in the economic training of the future engineers was made
evident at the conference of instructors of concrete economics
of the Moscow vuzes, convened by the Section of Economics and
Organization of Production attached to the Moscow House of
Scientists. The author questions whether the economics chairs
are sufficiently supplied with well qualified instructors and
quotes Dotsent P.I. Minin (Moskovskiy avtomekhanicheskiy in-
stitut - Moscow Automechanical Institute) as saying that the
Moscow technical vuzes have at present 3 doctors of sciences,
and 60 dotsentswhile 45 experienced instructors hold no
scientific degree, and the majority of instructors are more
than 50 years old. He criticizes the instructors' scientific-
research work and claims that their contact with the enter-
prises is still insufficient. Many chairs do not pay proper

Tobias of the same institute regretted that the Institute's
laboratory has been liquidated and Dotsent V.A. Letenko
(Vyssheye tekhnicheskoye uchilishche imeni Biumana - Higher
Technical School imeni Bauman) opposes the wpinion that the
chairs of economics arid organization of production play a
secondary role. An investigation carried out by 11otsent
V.P. Butusov (MVTU) disclosed that student independent work
on questions of concrete economics leaves much to be desired.
The Automechanical Institute was quoted as an example of
good organization of student independent work. Further con-

PERIODICALt Ogneupory, 1959, Nr 4, pp 186-187 (USSR)
ABSTRACTs Due to good organization the repair of tunnel furnaces in
the Pant el eymccoddy plant was considerably improved and their
duration reduced by 10 days. The repair of tunnel furnace
Nr I with a dinas vault was carried out in 1958 in the course
of 21 days, and 40 days after the shut-down of the furnace
production started again. The preparations of the furnace
repair begin 6 months before its shut-down. A detailed plan
of the damages as well as designs, estimates, date plans and
orders for material are devised and prepared. One month before
the shut-down loading platforms for the material supply are
established and air, water and current lines laid (Fig 1).
One weeK prior to the beginning of the repair conveyors, mixers
and pumps are mounted. The repair operations carried out are
then described in detail. Before the end of the repair of the
cooling zone the preheating and burning zone of the furnace

ought to be improved according to the opinion of the author.

ABSTRACT: This Author Certificate describes a device for 'aide launching of.-
ships on launching ways. The ways are equipped with slide rollers arranged
so that one cannot drift against another. The launching device facilitates con-
struction on ianderwater parts of the craft. It is built in the form of stationary
upper ways. B~ each extremity of the ship there is a drum with an electromagnetic I
brake. The brake is kinematically linked with the slide roller by a drag cable.
The brake, in interacting through a transmitting synchro with an axially shifting
adjustment acrew (the brake activator)f serves to arrest the advance of the ship.
For a complete launch, the device features a guide screw equipped with a movable
nut which interacts with the contact device (see Fig. 1).

TEXT: A, S. Prenkell found out that the cause underlying the looseriirr~ of
forsterite bricks hitherto used in gas generator chockerworks is in the
chani-,-e taking place in the volume of iron oxides contained in them. This 4.3
particularly felt in an increased magneSioferrite content and a temperaturc
