Czech. patent, class, 59 a, 5: 42 c, 9, no. 95602, June 15, 1960 TEXT- A device for dosage of small amounts of liquids (0 to 0.5 cm3) with an accuracy of + 0.001 cm3 is des- cribed. At the beginning of the operation cycle, pistons (P) I and 2 (cf. figure) remain in their initial positions, to the left and to the right of the opening 7 of the inlet channel 8 at a precisely determined distance from a calibrated edge 9 located in a plane A perpendicular to the axis of the tube 3. This distance is established by means of a measuring screw 4 with a stop 5 pressed to it firmly. When P I is displaced in relation to P 2, which is kept in the initial position by the spfing 6, the distance between the ends of both P pistons decreases and the excess of liquid passes into the channel 8. When the end of P I passes over the edge 9, the removal of the excess liquid stops and the amount of liquid which remained in the tube 3 corresponds to the predetermined dose. Further displacement of P I causes a displacement of P 2, which compresses the spring 6; as a resuit the dose of the liquid flows into the opened channel 10, after which the ends of P I and P 2 will touch one another The device may be used in pharmaceutical, chemical and food industries, for lubrication, injection of fuel into combustion chambers, etc. [Abstracter's note: Complete translation.] Card 1/2 Dosing (1tvice fol... p S/2631(,2/(KK)i(X)4/(KXiOO9 1004/1204 t ; t,. - Figure Card 2/2 A /0 f! / -91 I 0 S/194/62/000/007/049/160 D295/D308 AUTHOR: Vokoun, Josef TITLE: Servo systems for automating the operation of mecha- nisms PERIODICAL: Referativnyy zhurnal. These galvanometers meet world standards. They sa- tisfy the demand of domestic customers who were previously depending on imported instruments. The author lists deficiencies in the design of previously pro- duced galvanometers and gives a detailed description of the novel "GNT" series. All modern trends were considered in the design of this galvanometer series to make them compact, handy units for measuring both. currents and voltages. The magnetic circuit (Diagram 1) consists of the prism made of "Alnico 1256" alloy and 2 soft-iron pole shoes. The magnetic inductance achieved In the 2 x 1.7 mm gap is 3,900 - 4,200 gauss. The moving-coil system is installed between the magnet and the bent pole-shoe ends. The coil has a central ferromagnetic core and is tightly suspended on 2 metal lamellas (Diagram 2 - 4). The coil has Card 1/4 Z/014/60/000/006/002VO02 New Czechoslovak Mirror Galvanometers of the Standardized IIGNTII Series either 2 independent. windings with 4 outlets (2 via suspension lamellas, 2 via bushings) or 3 par-tial windings with one common terminal. The coil is also equipped with the single or double reflecting mirror. The current Is partly admitted through the suspension wires and partly through separate, -thin silver lead-in wires. The system is magnetized upon final assembly. Most suitable for magnetization is an especially designed ignitron. impulse electromagnet (Diagram 5 and Photo 8 -(Abstractor's note: should read 6). The employed ignitron "I - - 5/0.3" is a produat of the I'Tesla - Roinov" Branch Plant in Vr5ovIce. The au%or describes the testing of the galvanometer constants. The wiring of the measuring equipmen:t for sensitivity, critical damping resistance and deflection linearity is given in Diagram 7, the wiring of an electronic short-circuit meter for measuring coil windings is given in Diagram 7a. An Instrument for measuring the ferro-magneti.sm was developed by the "Metrall-National Enterprise In Blan3ko. T-he "GNT" galvanometers are equipped with electrical zero-setting system fed from a 1.5 11/700 ma monocell. The system can be remote-controlled. Coil locking dur- ing transportation, etc, is also provided electrically by shortening the Mea3ur- ing terminals. The zero-setting devioe, the measuring circuit selector switoh, and the respective connectors for remote control are installed in a steering- Card 2/4 Z/014/60/000/006/002-/002 New Czechoslovak Mirror Galvanometers of the Standardized "GNT" Series control box (Diagram 8). 1.1be selector switch has the positions A (locked), 0 (zero setting), and I and II (measurlng circuits). The galvanometers are also encased by an air and water tight housing, made most suitably of "Umaplex" plastic material with a built-in lens (Diagram 9), Modifications "ONT - T" fop tropical regions vere developed, but are not yet produced. The galvano- meter is either installed in an evacuated casing (Diagram 10) or in a silon ring with an evacuated 2-part casing (Diagram 11). An improved system was used for fastening the coil to the torsion lamellas (Diagram 12), which ab- sorbs most of the rupture stress. Another advantage is the equal distribution of tensile strength, which can be adjusted by a dynamometer. The design of the coil and the r:oIl holder allow to introduce mechanized or semi-automated pro- dustion methods with weldings performed by a slightly modified version of the above described ignitron impulse electromagnet. The specifications listed in Table 13 indicate the versatility of "GNT" galvanometers. The application ranges can be modified by applying an appropriate capacitor wired to the coil. The natural frequency period (T) can thus be increased according to the equation (1), the value of the changed critical damping resistance can be calculated accord- ing to equations (2) and (3). Values for galvanometer 'IGNT 1" constants as a Card 3/4 Z/014/60/000/006/002/002 New Czechoslovak Mirror Galvanometers of the Standardized "GNT" Series function of the natural frequency period modified by a condenser wired to the terminals of the entire coil windings are plotted In Diagram 14, those for a 1IGNT 2" galvanometer with the capacitor wired to the terminals of 2 windings, are plotted in Diagram 15. The galvanometer "GNT-" version as individual labor- atory measur-ing unit Is shown in Photo 16. In conclusion, the author states the significance of the domestic production of galvanometers, which meet world stand- ards, and he mentions that oscil.lograph galvanometers are hitherto not produced in the CSR. !%ere are 14 figures, 2 photos, 1 table and 7 references: 5 Czech, I Soviet and. The system is is illustrated in Fig. 1~ Operation of the system is as follows. The light from the electric bulb I is projected through the lens F onto the mirror Z. of the galvanometer GNT, The light reflected from the mirror is divided by a prism H and then projected onto the two phototransistors FT1 and FT2 which should be matched. In general, it is possible to arrange the circuit so that the phototransistors can operate under ambient illumination andMat the deflection of the galt:anometer increases the current in one and reduces that of the other phototransistor. A differential indicator meter wLth two coils , A and D , is connected into the emitter ci!'cuit of the phototransistor and the current from the auxiliary battery B flows through this meter, In the zero Card 1/5 26678 z/ol4/61/000/008/004/007 Galvanometric Potentiometer .1- E192/E382 position (in the steady state) the difference between the cur-rents of the phototransistor is zero and the different-Lal meter gives no deflections The auxiliary source supplies also the. commutator bridge circuit, consisting of the balancing pot ent i omet erPk and the potentiometer PO . The zeroing potentiometer PI forms a part of the ratio arm of the resistors R a and Rb , which are connected to the balancing potentiometer Pk Both terminals of P k are connected to the zeroing coil 0-3 of the galvanometer, The pointer of the different.ia.l. meter is connected with the slider S of the balancing potentiometer P k If the current balance is disturbed due to the slider S moving against the zero setting of P C. . a voltage proportional Lo the misalignment deflection appears at the terminals of Pk and the current flows through the 0-3 coil of the galvanometer.~ In the same way, it is possible to perturb the equ:tlibrium state of the system by applying the Card 2/5 2-6678 Z/o14/6.1/000/008/0011/007 Gali?anometr.ic Potentiometer E192/E382 measured -voltage or current to one of the measuring coils M or M2 of the galvanometer, When this is done the mirror of t,be galvanometer is deflected, which may result in reduction of the illumination of FTI and an increase in the illum.ination of FT2- the coils of the differential meter are deflected due to the changes of the currents in the phototransistor and the sl.id.&r S tends to reach the position on the balancing potentiometer such that it corresponds to a voltage at the term.inals of Pk, such tint the current flowing in the galvanometer co-i-I 0-3 balances the electric torque of the galvanometer and the latter returns to its initial position. In thi.s way.the r1irrents of the two phototransistors are equalised. However. the cvcle would be repeated periodically if the galvanometer and the balancing potentiometer were capable of following the osc-illations. This is prevented by damping the galvanometer and by the fact that the slider of the balancing potentiometer has suff.i.-Aent friction. In this way, a constant deflection is maintained on the differential meter and the slider achieves a Card 3/5 26678 Z/014/61/000/008/004/007 Galvanometric Potentiometer .... E192/E382 balanced position. The differential meter has no drive torque so that the deflection of its coil and. consequently, that of the slider, obtains the torque from the currenr, differenr,e of the phototransistor-9. The tranient oscillations of this system can be suppressed by the knowr- methodsi in particular,, by the use of negative feedback -.' t is possible to .9--hieve the requ-ired degree of stability, The feedback voltage clan be taken from an auxiliary resistance connected to the C~ollector or emitter of the transistors. Iit a practical system, the deflection of the galvanometer --s limited by il~-_ans of two end stops, An attempt has been made to design a different system, where the optical path would be shorter and the o-erall weight less. In such a system a light.-weight drum. provided with an aperture at the inpuc side of the light beam and two apertures at its output side, was used instead of' -the galvanometer mirror. This 5ys-rem was fiund quite satisfartory and had some advantages in comparison with that of Fig. 1- There are 3 figures. Card 4/5 VOKOUII, Josef. inz. The problem of oxygen su pply could be solved by cultivating algae in the spacecrait. However, the penalty would be a large volume and weight. The Biologicky ustav 6s. Akademie v9d (Biological Institute, Czechoslovak AS) is preparing experiments with cer- tain species of algae. The disposal of CO 2 could be achieved by freezinE it out. A theorqtical possibility, which has not yet been proved even in a- laboratory, is to decompose CO 2 using solar light thus regenerating oxygen. The structural*material of the spacecraft provides suffisient protection against solar and cosmic radiations. For rescue of the crew at catastrophic failures of the spacecraft, special equipment will have to be carried'along, such as a.11rocket within a rocket" or a small space glider, by which the Card 1/2 Z/003/62/000/014/001/rOl Physicians speculate about ... D006/DI02 crew could return to earth. Various means have been proposed for protection against collision with large meteors and planetoids, e.g., automatic radar systems which would guide the spacecraft out of the collision Dath-, or automatic firing of guided missiles to destroy approaching meteors, but their feasibility and efficienoy is still doubtful. The article further briefly deals with the -decompression illness; effects of protracted linear,, acceleration; effects of high g loads; effects of weightlessness; problem.~ of sustenance; and psychological effects of spaceflight conditions on the crew. Prague, Ceskoslovenska Fysiologie,,Vol 15, No 2, Feb 66, pp 76-77 Abstract: Toxic edema was induced in rabbits either by inhalation of diphosgene or by intratracheal administration of N-carboxy anhydride of vanillin. The ederna liquid contains the s.ame amounts and type of protein as the rabbit serum; the disappearance of Evans' blue from the circulation system by lung capillaries is increased. The primary mechanism of the poisoning is the increased permeab- ility of lung capillaries. The damage to the capillaries is specific for both substances and occurs soon aftor their admin- istration. The occurrence of temporary and agonal arrhythmias was reduced by irradiation. The findings did not differ from each other irrespective of which part of the body (heart region, head, or whole body) was irradiated. The effect is explained by a change in the re- activity of the CNS caused by irradiation. 1 Western, I Czech, 2 Russian references, Submitted at the Plenary Meeting of the Physiological Section of the Czech. The stress-strain diagrams for both metals were characterized by three clearly defined stages: elastic, "easy-slip," and strain-hardening (see Fig. 1).
