N PERIODICAL: Radiotaklinika f clektronika, 1960, Vol.5, No.11, PP-1811-1817 TEXT: The paper was presented at the Seminar of IRE AN SSSR (IRE AS USSR) on January 7, 1959. The article considers a waveguide intended for the propagation of the 11ol-wave. Such waveguides are used to design sharp bents. parasitic wave filters and long distance communication lines. The dispersion equation is derived and the dependence of asymmetrical wave characteristic values on dielectric thickness analysed. For certain dielectric thicknesses, increased attenuation of 110,-waves can be obtained. There are 4 figures, I table and 5 references: 3 Soviet and 2 English. The particles were al- lowed to settle freely on the plates and were detached after 30 min by centrifuging. fA microscope was used to determine the number of particles present before and afters the experiment. It was found that the adhesion of the dust to plates of class 13 ases 4, 5, and 69 and least in the 'was greatest, slightly less in the case of cla -1case of plates cff class 10. The surfaces studied were divided into three groups: ,Card 1/2 ~L 55037-n-65 ACCESSION YR, AP5014524 (1) ldiiilly smooth surfaces, such as freshly fire-polished glass or clasa 13 steal plate; in this case the contact area is greatest, and hence the adhesion reaches its maximum valut.. (2) Surfaces whose projections ara one order of magnitude smaller than the size of the particles; thus the contact area and hence the adhesion decrease. (3) Surfaces having macroscopic features of roughness where the size of the prcjections Is comparable with or greater than that of the dust particles; in this case, the cc.ntact area will increase, and so will the adhesion. Profilograms of the steel surfacez confimied these assumptions. "The authors are very grateful to 11. V. Shcherbitkova and A. D. Of late, several types of extractor columns of this type were proposed (Refs 8, 10, 11, 13, 14, 18, 22, 25)- Yet the investigations carried out hitherto are incomplete and the results obtained are even contradicting each other (Refs 16, 16a, 17, 20, 26). In the present case the hydrodynamics and mass transfer of the rotor disk extractors is investigated as a function of the physical properties of the system, off the geometrical ratios within the apparatus , as well as of the dimensions of the apparatus. The experiments were carried out in Card 1/2 extractors of different dimensions. Two systems were investi- Investigating Extraction Apparatuses With Mechanical SOV/64-58-7-12/18 Mixing of the Phases. A change of the ratio ether:water from I 1 3 to 1 t 9 and that of kerosenetwater from 1 : 3 to 1 ; 10 shows a low effect on the capacity limit of the extractor. The capacity of the extractor decreases to a certain limit with the increase in the speed of rotation of the rotor, with the intensity of mass transfer (mainly) increasing. The indices showed the duration of "working" and "resting" periods and the duration of the complete cycle of periodic motor activitjr in the stomach and duodenum: 3-H Card The basic indices of 6I'tra'ct evacuation were: 1) initial evacuation from the stomach; 2) time of complete evacuation from the stomach; 3) time required for the first portions of food to pass through the small lintestine; 4) duration of passage of the final portions of food through the Ismall. intestine; 5) total duration of food passage through the stomach and small intestine. After accumulating background data, animals were exposed to chest- back ac-.elerations on a centrifuge with a 4.2-m radius (8 G for 3 min). Teits, after exposure-t~ acceleration showed significant deviations in motor activity. On the day of exposure, steady motor activity of the stomach and duodenum wag; noted in the form of acid contractions which persisted for 5-6 hr. These changes in GI-tract starvation periodicity persisted for 2-3 weeks. At the.end of the third week, this index began to normalize. Amplitude values with respect to background data were lower. The rhythm and peristalsis occuring in the observed portions of the GI tract remained coestant for two raonths after exposure to acceleration. Results of GI-tract evacuation studies (food stimuli consisted of 100 ml .at milic plus -50 ml of water and 100 g of meat mixed with 50 g of barium waNate) showed some substantial, changes; 1) acceleration.of ACC Nat AT66j6~2~___ evacuation of milk and meat foods from the stomach; 2) acceleration of the evacuation of milk from the stomach and small intestine. Changes in gastric and intestinal evacuatory functi6n were observed for 2.5 months. The studies showed that-increased gravity produces changes in starva- tion periodicity and GI evacuation, which disappear in 3-9 weeks. The .disruption of starvation periodicity and evacuation can find application in 'the pathological analysis of the human GI tract upon exposure to increased A.
