dis-ciiia- lekAru ceskjoh 1949, 88/504 1949, 272/3.1
The aiff-ct of rage is a state arising suddenly either from. an ap-arent ca-;se or
without any cause; a state of great vehemence which manifest itself by a complete
deviation from the usual limits of social conduct and is accompanied either by
tendencies to or by real acts of violence* The adrenergic emotional complex in the
diencephalon, if liberated, manifest Itself either by tear or by rage. The occurrence
6f rage dB various diseases, such aa marAc-depressive psychosis, to discussed.
Fddrteen-men and 12 women are briefly described. Fifteen patients showed disturbances
of sleep,2 of these narcoleptic states, 14 showed depression, 3-1 headache, 9 polyuria,
8 dyspepsia, especially meteorism, 5 states of apathy, 4 a lowered capacity of
resistance against hunger, 3 a sensitivity to cold, 3 a disturbance of the motor
system subjectively observed and objectively ascertainable, 3 experienced the affect
during or after an orgasm; 1 of these, was an obvious sadist. Nine women out of 12
showed frigidity. Most striking was the fact that 8 patients were very tall, 6 men
180-M cm. and 2 woman, one 175, the other 180 cm. Deeds committed in the patho-
3ogicalaffect of raCe. especially if there are other diencephalic symptoms present
and if there is a temporal dysrhythmic EEO pattern, are to be excused. The deep and
clever psychopathological analysis and the great number of cases make the paper very
valuable*

283 psychiatric patients and 217 normal persons. Distinction between smokers
and non-smokcts was found to have no significance. The percentage of non-

and in neurological patients and 64.5 O/o in psychopaths. It is concluded that
inability to perceive a bitter taste of I must be regarded as a 'constitutional
stigma. This hypothesis is being subjected to further examination.

T-EXT: The growthAnatmospheric radioactivity and radioactive fall-out in
PraL-ue were investiCated after the explosion of a plutonium bomb in 2the-,
Sahara on November 13, 1960. The radioactive fall-out (in curies/m -10
for 28 days) was 0.32 in January, 0.42 In February and 1.52 in 'Itarch, that
is, after the.explosion it incz-eased apprioximately four times; then the
fall-out decreased to 0.07 in December 1960, fA particularly sharp
maximum of radioa3tivity (1-7-10-7 curies/m or 28 days) was observed at
Jevani station during the period between February 1, and March 7, which
was accompanied by a considerable rainfall. The atmospheric radio-
activity was measured at the height of 10 m by sucking 40-50 m3 of air

Abstract fAuthors' English summary modified 7: An instrumant do-
signeU b the authors is described; it is bRaed on particle fil-
tration by a membrane filter. Li~,,ht transparency of the filter
is recorded, The acciunulation of the particles on the membrane
influences the amount of light passing through it. The accumul-
ation is proportional to the amount of particles contained in the
atmosphere. Evaluation of th,; results is made by a gravimetric
analysis. The recorded curve is used for the determination of
the relative amounts of aerosols in the air during the investig-
ated period of time. The instrument has an accuracy of + 5%.
