The use of RC outlets on r,h devices recording the magnetic field and telluric currents, facilitates field resnarch carried out by telbiric current and ffagnetotelluria profiling (MTP) m.ethods, providing that a natinfactory Identification"of the device frequency eharaoteristies is ensured, Tests of the MTP field performance of this magneto- gvaph were carried out in Mavoh and April 1960 In the Zakhr4ot-Derveze-Kom area in the southeast of Kara~Kum. The magnetograph was connected to the electric Card 3/7 27115 S/165/61/"/001/003/007 Highly sensitive photooleotrin magnatograph Aio4/Ai27 geophysical exploration station 'all-P.,57 MPL-57) by a recording oacillograph aflo -6 (Epo-6), Tests proved its ability to record brief, low-value variat-4ans of the magnetic field (0.2 - 0.5 in the sandy regions of Kara-Kum. The level of Interaferanann (wind, seismic, eta.) did not exceed 5-8% of recorded varia- t1on valuen. The RC-outlet permitted the effactivo control of the magnetic field during "anticipation" over a prolonged period. Followin& defects were not- nds nensitivity to feeding voltage; passing of the component constant of anode current through the feedback winding of the Helmholtz ring, disturbed equilibri- tun of the magnetic system caused by accidental or deliberate turning-off of the food-.supply; sensitivity to.dampnean and 6xcensive input resistance of the d.'red nurrent amplifier; shifting of the operation point of tube performance. In view of the above~ it was considered expedient to construct the HACP(MDF?) photo- electric magnetograph w1th a rjuahpull nalf-balancing circuit on photoamplifiers, with correq-tion of zero-recording by artificial magnetic field. Consequently, optical and electrical parts were altered accordingly. A more powerful tube (60 intensified the luminous flux and a special prism was Placed In the path of the luminous ray reflected by the magnetic system mirror. Vyd-in, -A.I. and Gamus, M.Z., Engineers TITLE: Universal Indicating Inmtruments PERIODICAL: Energomashinostroyeniye, 1.960, No.12, pp.46-4-1 TEXT: This is a catalogue style description of six instruments based on indicator micrometers develorkf-d by the Leningrad Kirov Works. The first is a slide gauge, illustrated diagrammati.cally, with an accuracy of 0.01 mm which is convenient for external measurements and for checking the d1stance between slots where other types of mIcrometrIc instruments cannot be used. Tho second Instrument is intended to check displetcemeFnt of intrrnal end faces of holes. The third instrument is Intended to chbc1c -ariations J-n the position of grooves. The fotirth has a modernized indicator head for checking beaded edges on disos. The fifth is intended for checking the radial positions of blades in assembling turbine discs. The sixth is intended for measuring the displacements at the bottom of deep holes. . All the d,~-vices consist essentially of fittings to a common integrating micrometer with scale divisions of 0.01 mm; sketches of the various fittings are given. There are 6 figures. COVERAGE: This collection of articles, written by staff meabers of the Chelyabin- skiy politekhnicheskiy institut (Chelyabinsk Polytechnical Institute), deals with problems on the theory, processes, and equipm-nt of metal forming. Card 1/5 Problems in the Theory and Practice of Metal Forming SOV12305 Problems in change of shape and state of stress of parallelepipedr, a=d cylindrical bodies subjected to flattening in plane parallel forging heads are discussed. The essentials of the theory of the interaction between strip and roll, and the question of slip along contact surfaces during rolling are explained. An analytic method for the kinematic design 6r steam-distribution mechanisms for steam hammers is presented. Precision stamping of thin-ve-Iled parts of intricate shape is described. An investigation of the function of repeaters in in-tandem rolling mills is discussed. An article on the testing of electric heating furmAee3 is also included. No personalities are mentioned. References follow several of the articles. TABLE OF CONTENTS: Preface Skonechnyy, A.I. [Candidate of TL-chnical Sciences). State of Stress in Metal and Analysis of Change in Shape of Priamatie Specimens Subjected to Flattening in Plane Forging Heads 5 The author presents formulas for the calculation of laternal spread, elongation, and the external friction coefficient of prismatic f-pecimens subjected to flattening in plane forging heads. Consider- ation is given to the effect of stress distribution. Oird 2/ 5 Problems in the Theory and Practice cpf Metal Forming SOV/2305 Boguslavskiy, G.V. (Engineer]. Deformation of Round Bodies Daring Radial Reduction Between Flat Plates 35 The article deals with an experimental investigation of the above phenomenon. The author presents mathematical data and the conclusions reached concerning the nonuniformity and distri- bution of deformations in radial and longitudinal directons. The project was supervised by Professor V.V. Sheveykin, Doctor of Tlechnical Sciences. Boguslavskiy, G.V. Intemal Forces Active Daring Plastic Deformation 48 Experiments in press forming carried out in 1956 on 315 specimens are described. Internal forces were measured by a special dyno- mometer and a press. Simultaneous measurements of total pressure, radial forces, and reduction were recorded. Diagrams showing the relationship between these factors are shown for different specimen shapes and conclusions are presented. This project was also supervised by V.V. Shveykin. On the Physical Nature of Forward Blip 63 The author briefly describes the theory of the interaction between strip and rolls during rolling. The theory, claimed to be new, is based on the application of the law of the conservation of energy to the rolling process. The formulas derived agree with those of other theories and are confirmed by experimental data. Wdrin, V.4,-Effectof the Spread on Slip During Rolling 70 The article disevzses slip at any point along the are of contact of a strip and its relation to spread. The effect of spread on formrialip and on the coefficient of external friction is also discussed. Shishkov, B.I. (EngLneer]. Precision Stamping of Thin-valled Parts of Intricate Shape 76 Types of dies and the technique for stamping very thin (0.2 U-0-02mm) parts for instruments are described, and suggestions for efficient operation are presented. ABSTRACT: A conference held in February, 1958 at the EITIM, Institute is briefly reviewed. The machine tool laboratory of the Kolomna Heavy Machine Tool Plant ~Kolopienskiy zavod tyazhelogo stankostroyeniya) has carried out, in conjunction with the BITIMS Institute, an extensive ex-ptrimental investi- gation to study the operation of the circular slideways in heavy vertical turning nzachines, ,uhicL led to profound design changes. The machine tool laboratory of the imeni Sverdlov Plant is working systeratica7ly on the imrovment in the design of the frames of horizontal borin- raills, which has led to the development of stiffer framics. The same laboratory also works on the development of electric drivee with a wide ran[,-,e of speed control and ort the theory and practical verification of engineering methods of prediction of the smoothness of slow Laotions in machine tools. The deGiEn of' a no,.-., t of plain bearinr& for borinE, mills is beinG developed. The rork leading to the standardisatioia of -the st1ffne,_!_, of lathes, milling Card 1/2 121-4-32/32 A Conference of Workers-in Machine Tool Laboratc, ries machines, vertical turning machines and slotting machines, carripd out by the BVIMS Institute in co-operation with other works' laborn,to~ies has yielded important practical results. The Conference lindicated sevoral desired trends for the work of.machine toolflaboratories.
