PERIODICAL: Skrzydlata Polska, 1959, lir 25, Supplement Nr 1,
pp II-III (POL)
ABSTRACT: The author deals with the role of rockets in the
present air defense and characterizes typical air
dafense systems and equipment based on the US ai:-?
defense system. He classifies contemporary air attack
means into the following groups: a) piloted bomber
aircraft equipped with "Rir-to-ground" bombs and
missiles, b) pilotless aircraft, and c) ballistic rock-
ets and gliding rockets. This article deals only with
air defense against the means listed under a) and
partly under b). Air defonse against modern bomber
aircraft must have the following qualities: 1) speed

precision Bights ensuring destruction of even a
single aircraft; 4) a long horizontal fire range
ensuring interception of bombers at a distance.
Analysis of modem air defense shows that the anti-
aircraft artillery has at the present limited range
and only rockets are suitable to meet all above
mentioned requirements. The author points out that
rockets will take over most of the air defense in
the near future. He further describes the organi-
zation of an air defense, semi-automatic and auto-
matic command points, batteries of anti-aircraft
guided missiles; giving examples of the "Missile
Master" rocket air defense organization in USA.
Equipment for the rocket air defense is classi-
fied by the author into 3 groups; 1) equipment for
target observation and missile guidance; 2) equil-

TITLE: RM-2P rocket experiment technique
PERIODICAL: Skrzydlata Polska, no. 7, 1961, 10 -11
TEXTs The author generally describes the RM-2P experimental rocket
launched on October 6, 1960, on the Bledowska desert and on December 2,
1960, near Warsaw. Further, he describes the launching technique and the
purpose of this experiment wbich were: testing a new start-programing ap-
paratus designed by J. Kibin'ski, a new aerodynamic brake and parachutes.
The RM-2P rocket res,=bled the pz-evious model RM-2A, and the only new fea-
turee consisted of a ahield around the burner muzzle made of duralumin sheet
which acted as a brake. The two stages of this rocket were separated by a
pyrotechnical charge ignited before launching. After separation a parachute
was released which later released a second parachute. The rocket weight at
start was 12.5 kg; it reached an altitude of 1,200 meters. There are 3
,photographs and 5 figures.

TITLE: The RM-2C and RM-2D rockets
PERIODICAL: Skrzydlata Polska, no. 27, 1961, 13
TEXT: The article is the first of a serial of two and describes the
RMI-2G and RM-2D experimental rockets launched at the B3:qdov,,ska
Desert on April 10, 1961. The RM-2C rocket was used to test an
optical tracking system *and the RM-2D to tf7 out a new compartment
specially designed for'-gathering biological data. Both rockets are
improved verbions of the RM-2 series designed and built at the Do6-.
viiadozalny OLrodek Rakietowy Aeroklubu Polskiej Rzeczypospolitej
Ludowej (Experimental Center of the Polish People's Republic Aero-
club) established at the Aeroclub's branch in Krak6w. Among other
sections, the Center has the Sekcja Biologiczno-Modyczna (Biologico-
Medical Section) which cooperates with the Akademia Medyczna (Medl-

compartment,,to perform experiments with animals, Technological

experiment3, including photogrammetric tracking, were already carried
out last year* Experience acquired resulted in the construction
of a shockproof and heat-resistant electronic flash lamp which was
tested in the '.4_V--2C. The lamp produces a rapid sequence of flashes.
So far, five vei-sions (A,P,B$C a-7a D) ol the IM-2 rocket were built

The IIVA-2B version was a modiAzation of tho A and P versionsand a

designed to carry larger payl(ads. To'that tqds tho weiGht and

of the container increased. Tk.o MI-2 rockets consist of three parts:
the rocket rLovor, separation me(;_*-R-.i3M (Which L;eparates bhe contai-

of t-v;o parts: the parachute chamber equipped with a main and a pilot

TITLE; System for studying switch contact bounce by a counting method
SOURCE: Pomiary, automatyka, kontrola, no. 10, 1965, 435-440
TOPIC TAGS: circuit design, switching circuit
ABSTRACT: The article describes a test system for use in analyzing the switching
transients due to improper contact wipe caused by bouncing in'typical a-c and d-c
'switches. The method employed in the system is essentially one of discretely count-
ing the bounce-induced transients until the steady-state response is attained with
voltage passed across the coil and the switch activated. Wear (in the form of put-
ting and build-up), increased switch resistance, and voltage overload can be en-
pirically estimated by means of the method proposed. Neon cfrcuits and scope read
out of the incremental time base are essential features of the method, which in said:
to provide results of significantly greater accuracy than other methods of contact
analysis. Orig. art. has:' 10 formulas and 11 figures.

pp. 26-32, No. 3, 1950, pp.63-67.
The problem of work safety for those cleaning the inside walls of tanks
after they hnve boon emptied of petroleum products such as petrol. Reference
is made to the :influence of the human organlsmof atmo3phore containing a
major concentration of noxious hydrocarbon vapours, particularly In confined
promises or, as in the instance under consideration, In tanks. Apart "from
efficient ventilation of the tank, it is essential, owing to the danger of the
form-tion of petrol vapours, to check the atmosphere within the tank. Recom-
mendations are mide for~the prevention of poisoning and of fires or explosion
by the use of proper safety de-Aces. Reference Is also rode to the role of
the ambulance staff in cases of poisoning. Accidents my be considerably
ltmIted by the practical organization of work to be performed inride tanks.
