Abstract: The simple, accurate and sensitive method for
determining the non-hydrolyzed hydrazide of iso-
nicotinic acid (1) is described, based on meas-
uring the intensity of the yellow color devel-
oped by the action of 4~o.solution of p-dimethyl-
aminobenzaldehydej (II) in 2 N sulfuric acid on
the solution being tested. By using 0.1 ml of
a solution of II, the maximum intensity of color
can be observed after 10 minutes. The color is

Abstract: stable for 15 minutes. Beer's law is followed
by 10-40),il/ml. of I at 425 millimicron. The meas-
urements'Nere made in a Fischer AC model spectro-
photometer with e. 425-B filter and with 2-3 cm.

20 tablets are crushed, the weighed portion (equi-
valent to 50 mg. of I) are dissolved in 20 ml
water and diluted to 100 al; for analysis, 2.5 ml
of solution is u1sed. For the analysis of the
solutions used for injections, 2 ml of 2% or 1 ml
of 4114o solutions are diluted to 100 ml.

'Abstract' : Low molecular weight polymrs are synthesized by cohydrclYsus of (CH3)3SiC1
W and (CH3) SiG12 (II), derived from SiC14 and CH31-%C1 by Kippingts method.
BY catalytic action of IF2SO4 the low po3ymers are converted to polymethyl siloxanes to
which is attributed a branched structure:. Branching is dependent on the presence of
CHjSiC13in the reaction mixtures- Similar polymers may also be obtained with separating
I and II frcm-the mixtures which are prcduced by the Grignard reaction. In the latter
case.. in order to produce an excess of 1: in the mixture,, a ratio of 3.85 (or 3-0) mol
CHY4,gCl to 1 mol.SiCl must be used. kmixture with an.-excess of II wi.U be obtained
by use of 2e5 (or 20~ mol CH IJgCI per 11 mol of S'C14- The m,p* and the flash point of
the synthesized oils are .4.- OC. and 280

Abstract Description of the production and use of thin films of metals
(silver, aluminum, tin, rhenium) beryllium, platinum., nickel,,
chromium, and palladium), of dielectrics (MgF.) CaF2, LiFNa3
A16(cryolite), Siop(quartz)., SiOy ZnS and T102) and semicon-
ductors (germanium and silicon) for the preparation of mitrors)
for transparentizing optical glass (non-reflecting coatings)
and for interference filters. The methods of cathodic and
thermal spattering are described. A method is given for con-
tiftuous control over the thickness of the spattered films.
Data are given on mirrors with germanium films., covered with
alternating films having low and high coefficients of refrac-

glass optical wedges in a vacuum of 5 x 10- torr. Five films
were obtained simultaneously from a single deposition process*
