Report of 4 cases of remission of,diabetes In the course of jaundice. Two had
infectious hepatitis; one of them ended with death due to acute, yellow atrophy
of the liver. In spite of a severe., irreversible impairment of the liver with the
picture of hepatic coma, there was no deterioration of diabetes; also no symp-
toms of diabetic acidosis were observed. The other 2 had mechanical jaundice -
one case due to cholelithlasis, and the other to cancer of the pancreas, Indepen-
dently of theorigin of the jaundice. disappearance of diabetes symptoms was
observed. The sugar level in the. blood fell; also the amount of sugar excretion
in the urine decreased. After the disappearance of jaundice, the diabetes aggra-
vated. Although the mechanism of the observed remission of diabetes in the
course of jaundice is not clear; the author - taking into account the remissions
of various diseases at the time of jaundice - is apt to consider one common
mechanism operating via the nervous system.

Abstract: *'.. case of chloromia diagnosed in a patient 22
years old is described. For a period of lj
years the disease followed the course of typical
chronic myelosis. Within 3 weeks after a fresh
(not preserved) blood transfusion, there appear-
ed on the skin of the anterior chest wall and
later on the forehead typical green infiltrations
of the size of a cherry, typical of chloroma.
