In all cases (membranaccous, complicated, traumatic, subluxated) of cataracts in
children and infants discission and extraction of the lenticular masses ia perform-
ed. This procedure causes 'black pupil'. The extraction begins with die prepara-
tion of a conjunctival flap, then the opening of the anterior chamber is performed
ab externo with a blade knife .Good results are claimed. Szmyt - L6df

Abstract: The spectrophotometric method of absorption de-
termination in the ultraviolet range was used
for the determination of nicotinic acid and its
amide (I), diethylamide (II) and oxymethylamide
'(III); these substances were in solutions brought
to pH = 1.8 to 2.05 with HC1. The absorption
spectra in the range from 220 to 280 m /L were

Abstract: studied in solutions with pH = 2.0, 3.0 and 8.5
under selected determination conditions. It
was found that all the curves had minima be-
tween 235 and 253 m /Cand maxima between 257
and 265 m A . But the maxima and minima shift-
ted considerably with the pH changes. The ab-
sorption magnitude was constant in all curves
only along a little segment at the wave length
of about 245 m ( and in the range of pH from
1.8 to 205. T4 determination of I, II and III
carried out in pharmaceutical preparation yield-
ed satisfactory results.

Abstract: Authors report details of an investigation which
revealed, in most cases, caused a temporary decline in the
base reserve of the blood without affecting its pH. In
these patients symptoms of irradiation poisoning were ei-
ther totally absent or very.mild. Acidity was connected
ivith symptoms of poisoning. appeared to depend more on the
individual reaction of the patient than on the dose or
.duration of the treatment, and may possibly be more fro-
quent in treatment of the abdominal cavity than of the
upper part of the body. Passing acidity between determin-

Title Plaster-of-Paris and Its Application in Building in Great
Britain.

Abstract Plaster-of-Paris is used in British Building mainly as
thin plates for interior partitions, plaster-of-Paris
stucco and various construction details. A special bitu-
men emulsion is added to the mix in order to render the
products hydrophobic. The production of plaster-of-Paris
plates with the addition of up to 12% of saw dust for the
construction of little slanting roofs is planned.
