In a 68-year-old woman with hypertensive disease on the basis of the generally
accepted clinical and electrocardiographic criteria 2 successive myocardial in-
firctions were diagnosed. In the course of the disease the ECG showed a short-
lasting disappearance of the R deflection in lead, CR4 . The patient died after 5
weeks, stay in hospital. The anatomopathological examination showed numerous
scattered necrotic foci of microscopic size within the myocardium; massive
infarction, however. was not found. Numerous microscopic necrotic foci, when
summed up, may give a full clinical and electrocardiographical picture of in-
farction. In this woman as in a few other cases described in the world lit-
erature - there appeared a transient QS syndrome. This shows that the appearance
of QS denection in precardiac leads is not a certain proof of infarction, involving
the whole thickness of the wall (electrical window), because necrosis cannot occur
as a transient phenomenon.. Obviously considerable damage to the muscle fibres
without their necrosis may alsb be a cause of appearance of QS deflection in the
electrocardiographic. curve.

Abstract: patient, 22.5 g). Another 300 patients under
observation, also received 2-3 g of I up to the
day following a drop of temperature, and then
after a ?-day interval, for another 7 days,
1 g/day (an average of 23.3 g overall). The re-
lapses depended mainly on the severity of the
disease: in 210 severely ill,,they amounted to
21.9%; in 136 moderately Ill, 11.8% and in 54
with light illness, 5.5%. Of 100 patients,
treated with I uninterruptedly, in 62 patients
the treatment of whom started on the lst-2nd
week of disease, 24.2% relapses were observed,
and 28.9% in 38 patients whose treatment was be-
gun on the 3rd-4th week. Of 300 patients re-

Abstract: [Authors' En-1711sh summary] Authors report seven
cases of generalized scleroderma (5 women and 3 men) aged
21-62, two of which died with symptoms of circulatory fail-
uro. In all the patients the ecg tracings shows abnormali-
ties, mostly lowering of the QRS voltage, flattening or in-
version of the T wave, and levelling of the ST 'wave. Von-
tricular fibrillation was noted in one case. There are '-2
references: One (1) Soviet, 6 Polish, one (1) German, and
the other Western, primarily in English.

Abstract: [Authors' English summary] The study covered 54 pa-
tients with acute carbon monoxide poisoning. ECG abnormali-
ties were found in 43, and concerned mostly the T, ST, and P
waves, with other abnormalities rarely observed. 1he eca ab-
normalities disappeared within 24 hours after admission in 37
per cent 'of the cases. No relation was found between the in-
tensity of the ecg abnormalities and duration of comatose peri-
od.. Mere is one (1) table and 18 references: 8 Polish, 6
German, and two (2) each Soviet and Western.

ABSTRACT: The article considers in a brief and general manner certain of the ad-
vantages that may accrue from the use of the Hall effect for the compensation and
neutralization of mechanical movements and related energy displacements in high-
precision primary timing devices employing pendulum-type regulating elements. It is
assumed that the effect of possible temperature and pressure changes has been eliMi-
and that the impulse maintaining the pendulum in motion is constant, Having
demonstrated that the fundamental influence on the constancy of a pendulum's period
is exercized by the constancy of the resistances to its movement and that the ampli-
tude of a pendulum is in effect a function of its damping, the author provides a
working diagram and description of a device, incorporating the Hall effect, in which
