ABSTRACT: This is the first part of an article discussing shaping
of profiles used in the aircraft industry. Shapi
pipes will be published in the next issue of this
periodical. The author outlines in reference form the
whole field of metal sheet and pipe shaping by appli-
cation of various machinemand suitably formed dies.
Various materials like aluminium, aluminium-magnesium
alloys, steel or brass require different methods of
shapingi it might be pressing, draw-forming, or a
newly introduced method of simultaneous bending and
stretching. The latter method successfully prevents
deformation of already shaped items due to springing.

The hif lucnce of Micrococcuo pyogenes var. aurcus on the transplantability of Sa
180 was studied. The following experiments were performed: (a) A suspension of
tumour cells mixed with the bacterial factbr was incubated for 5-24 hr. and then
injected into animals.'(b) A suspension of tumour cells mixed with the bacterial
factor was Injected Into animals immediately after preparation; thus the bacterial
factor acted simultaneously on the suspended cells and on the organism of the ex-
parimental animal. It was found that filtrates from Micrococcun sliphtly inhibited
the growth of tumours in experiment (a) and slightly stimulated It In (b). Extracts
from Micrococcus showed a distinct stimulating action in (a) and a weak stimulating
influence In (b). Living and dead bacteria both revealed a marked stimulating action
The authors suppose the existence of a factor acting specifically on Sa 180, con-
tiected with bacterial plasma, and a non-specIfIcally acting factor of living and

Report of an epidemic with 9 paralytic cases in Roumania. in 1957. In 18 cases a
9 of these were from patients, 6 from children
poliovirus of type I was isolated,
in contact with the patients and 3 from indirect contacts (2 schoolchildren and the
laundress). In 4 cases the virus was identified in the 4th week of illness. It is con-
cluded that 50% of the contact children were virus carriers and that the infection
index in exposed children of the 0-3 yr. age group was 76.5%.

flain mat ions and infections in the acute and exudative phase always distinctly shorten
the hand,while In the productive phase they lengthen kt. The conception of the band's
'value' is introduced, It is obtainedbyaddingto the figure determining the length
of the band the number of gauges with complete coagulation, i.e. those gauges in
which the precipitate is very thick, and turbidity reaches to the middle of the
height of the liquid at most. In a normal band such a coagulation occupies 3-5
first ganges, and the 'value' amounts to 10-13. By presenting the band in the form
of 2 figures, determining the length and the value, the intensity of coagulation may
he easily marked. The hands of a decreased value are considered shortened even if
