main product, In the oxidation of nuorene, 3v~
I and IV are produced with the yield of 68%. From
chrysene (at 6.3 minutes contact time) there were
obtained 89% 1 and 11% IV with the yield of 87.6%.
A possibility of obtaining I by means of oxidation
of fractions from the initial fractionation of
coal tar was checked. From the phenanthrene frac-
tion containing 5WP III and 14% V tbeproducts of
oxidation constituted 46.9 wt % of which 32% was I.
When the products of oxidation were recalculated
based on III the yield was 112% of which I was 85%,
i.e., it was greater than in the oxidation of II.

Abstract: Anthraquinone was obtained simultaneously from V
with 62.7% yield. The anthracene fraction yields
23-34.4% of,!roducts (212-290% based on III) that
include 13. 22.5% 1. The naphthalene fraction,
contained 79,Wo II, upon oxidation gives 89.7% an-
hydrides that include 79% 1. Capacities of C basis
maximum yields comprize 120 grlt /hour for 11, 30-
35 gr/,g /hour for III, V, and f ruorene, 40 gr/,E
hr. for chryBene and pyrene, and 50-55 gr/,p /hr.
for phenanthrene and anthracene fractions.- De-
crease in the conversion increases capacity of the
catalyst C considerably. Activity of C has not

TEXT: In this article the author describes one.of the methods of
intercepting a target in the-air at low altitudes by application of
a half-loop dive or of a half-roll. Decisive for the successive per-
formance of this operation is an accurate calculation of the point
at which the diving operation should commence and its distance, I'S 'It
from the oncoming target, The exact location of this point is cal&
culated by the navigator, who takes into consideration the speed of
both aircraft7 the angle of approach and the time needed for comple-
tion of the loop dive maneuver. For opposite courses of both air-
crgft or courses mutually intersecting at angles not greater than
60 , the following formulas are recommended: (1) without taking into
account the loss of time caused by giving the "go-ahead" order and

Abstract: Authors report details of an investigation idiich
revealed, in most cases, caused a temporary decline in the
base reserve of the blood without affecting its pH. In
these patients symptoms of irradiation poisonin.- were ei-
ther totally absent or very. mild. Acidity was connected
with symptoms of poisoning, appeared to depend more on the
individual reaction of the patient than on the dose or
duration of the treatment, and may possibly be more fre-
quent in treatment of the abdominal cavity than of the
