The air containing 0.0116 Co causes only slight symp- toms, 1% concentration of CO in the air brings about death In a few minutes. Autopsy findings reveal, as a result of CO poisoning. punctate haemorrhagea in the pericardium or small necrotic foci. Clinically there are headaches,. dizziness, nausea, restlessness - the cardiac action accelerates, the second sound above the pulmonary artery becomes accentuated, blood pressure to lowered, the 13CG reveals lowering of ST, P pulmonale and low voltage QRS extrasystoles, Wilson' a block. Wojcik, Mieczyslaw TITLE: Quartz glass properties PERIODICAL,. Szk1o i Ceramika, no. 3, ig6o, 73-- 78 TEXT. Mechanical, optical, chemical and electrical properties of quartz glass are described. Production.of non-transparent quartz glass began in Poland during 1958 in the taklady Szklarskie "Kara".(Glass Plant "Kara") in Piotrkow Try- ,,.bunalski. In the first phase production of quartz blooks.used to manufacture tank furnaces began in the glass plants "Wolomin" 'and "Polanka",. Later, electrical insulators, thermocouple pipes and vessels for the chemical industry will be prod- uced. The mechanical properties of non-tramsparent quartz glass, based on data compiled by V. P. Pryanishnikov and published in "Quartz' Glass" 1956, Moscow and E., Goerlich published in "Chemij Krzemian6w" (Silicia Chemlstry)1957, Warsaw, are given in Figure I Specific weight of non--transparent.,quartz glass ranges from 2.02 to 2.08 G/cr;~. It has good tensile,. bending and 'drawing strength and resists irregular heating. Further, it has good refractory properties compared to other type glass. It can withstand temperatures from 1,100 to 1,2000C and for a short 1/7 Card 2oo68 P/015/60/000/003/001/CO1 Quartz, glass properties Ao76/A126 time even 1,4000C. Visible crystallization in non-transparent quartz glass begins at 1,2000C and in transparent glass at 1.,3000C.. Crystallization speed in non- -transparent glass-at 1,6300C. The crystallization depends on temperature and Fig-are 2 shows this dependence according toinvestigations made by G. A. Konovalov, F.,,A, Kurlankin and V. P.-Pryanishnikov. Average heat capacity of quartz glass, according to the All-Union Institute of Refract6ry MaterialE, USSR, is shown in Table II. Quartz glass has the best electric properties and there are practically no dielectric losses. At normal temperature specifielgonductivity of non-trans- parent quax-.'z glass is 10-16,,and for transparent 10- ohm-l . cm-1. Figure 3 shows the increased electric conductivit-yof quartz-glass in relation to higher temperatures. Dielectric endurance of transparent quartz glass at 200c is 43 kv/mm and of n6n-transparent glass32 kv/mm., In addition to the above electric proper- ties, quartz glass allows the passage of ultra-violet rays, investigation results obtained bi theInstitute of Optics in Moscow with a 13-mm-thick quartz glass,samp- le are given in Table IX. White light absorption coefficient, does not exceed .0.002. Absorption coefficient of a 1-mm-thidk quartz sample for a 289Awave ~rangei from O.=4 to oxoO8. There are 10 tables and 6 figures.
