TEXT: The method of producing ceramics for tool bits consists in that
aluminum oxide powder is mixed with water, binders are added in the form of
nitrates of silver, magnesium, cobalt, copper and others dissolved in water, and
also molybdic and tungstic acid dissolved in ammonia, and silicic acid in the
form of ordinary or colloidal solutions prepared in water or in other liquids in
quantities up to 50% of the dry aluminum oxide powder weight. The solution
obtained is dried while it is continuously stirred to ensure the crystallization
of the finest particles of the binding additives. To precipitate the metal and
the silicon carbides, the obtaine4i product is roasted at 300 - 1,5000C. For
final drying of the product and removal of the bhemically bound water and gases V/

TEXT: This is a design study carried outunder series of simplifying-as-
sumptions. Operation of a centrifugal compressor functioning under non-rated
conditions is analyzed. Efficiency change is conside'red'when a centrifugal com-
piessor is regulated by throttling its air suction pipe, by throttling its'e3chaust
pipe, and by means of turnable vanes of-the vaned diffuser.. The above-mentioned
methods of regulation are intercompared.

ABSTRACT: This article presents descriptions of the "Tu" aircraft series designed by
A. N. Tupolev, from his ANT-1 to the Tu-144 aircraft. Basic data on each aircraft
are presented, including information on engines, configurations, and the applications-
of various.classes of aircraft. The role of this aircraft series during and after
IN II is discussed, a partial biography of Academician A. N. Tupolev is given, and
his associations with Aeronautical organizations and Soviet air sciences in general
are discussed. The author points out that Designer Tupolev has many other plans in
his bureau which might shortly appear in the sky.
