Recent studies on corals and ostracoda of the Lower Givetian deposits of the Ural led to the conclusion that, besidp- the Takata layer, there are deposits of Vanyashkinskiye, lq~-azoT- skiye.,Calceola and Biysldye strata.of the Ele1ian fo=ation- The autaor lists various specied of ostracoda found in this region with short descriptions of each. 1. The stability of the solid solut16ns was determined by the method of step-wise tempering at 250, 300, 350, 400, a~d 450C for periods of 0.5, lp 2, 3, 5p 7, 10s 20# and 60 min, After tampering, -.he speci- mom were naturally aged for a period of 10 days, then their electrical conduc- tivity, strength limit, rolative, elongation, and i'low limit were determined. The exporimental, results are shown graphically (see Fig. 1). On the basis of the ox- perimental data C-curves for the stability of solid solution were constructed (see Fig._~). Because of its close contact with human domestic and forming activity, the dog is included in the infective cycle of severa11 diseases which may be spread from animals to humans. Among such diseases which dogs naturally harbor are brucellosis, lepto- .spirosis, and Q fever. The blood of 256 dogs on five forms in the' .Omsk oblast was examined using the following tests:' agglutination reaction and Huddleson's reaction for brucellosis, complement- fixation (with antigen from R. Bumeti) for Q feveri.and the lmicroagglutination-lysis readtion for leptospirosis, using nine 'Leptospira strains... Based on their results, the autho.ra Card 1/2 UDC: '619:616-98-031.2: ACC NRs AP6030798 failed 6o establish a real correlation in the percentage of in- ifected dogs and the intensity and course of brucellosis among 'livestock. It was noticed that on farms where livestock suffered-, %acute brucellosis, Wright's reacef6fi was positive~at higheir -titers (1:320) while the titer was not above 1:50 on farm where clinical signs of brucellosis were not observed., The results of serological studies for Q fever and leptospirosis were also fairly inconclusive statistically. It-was found that Leptoopira icterohaemorrhagia was most wideapread among all tanimals studied. Dogs alone showed antibodies for L. grippotyphoog, L. pomona, and L. hebdoinadia most frequently, and cattle and sheep Jor L. tarassoa and L. bataviaZ. However, in many cases, anti- ,bodies for two or three leptospiral serotypes were found simul;- taneously. The authors conclude that dogs may maintain these diseases among livestock, and that preventive' measures should be undertaken on affected forms. ABSTBACT:_ In the present state of the theory of a.c. corona, because of the complexity of the effect and its dependence on numerous external factorst it is not possible to calculate corona losses on transuission line conductors. Experimental lines for the stucly of this effect have, therefore, been con- structed in the USSR and abroad. This article describes an experimental installation consisting of a section of line (analagous with the 400 kV Kuybishev-Moscow line) high voltage transformers and suppl equipment. Voltage is supplied by three tran ormers eacK with a rated voltage of ?50 kV and an output of 750 kVA installed out-of-doors. The transformers may be connected in series to produce a voltage of about 2 000 kV t-o earth and three-phase connection can be arranged with line voltages of the order of 1 100 kV. The transformers 1/3 are supplied from a 3 MVA alternator driven by a synchronous motor. The experimental section of three phase lines consists Corona losses on 400 kV transmission lines. (C 10V~115/40 of three spans each of 300 m. The minimm clearance to earth at mid span is 10 m, two earth wires are used. Equipment has been provided for heating the wires in oider to measure corona, losses in conditions of fog and ice formation. A meteorolog- ical station has been provided to recoid atmospheric pressure, tempemture and humidity, rainfall intensity and wind strength. The procedure for measuring corons, loss is described. In view of the need for high sensitivity a bridge circuit was chosen using sensitive electro-static watt meters. Special measuring cabins are installed on insulated supports with an insulation level to earth of 750-800 kV. Test results are given for corona losses us]ng different wires under different meteorological conditions. Measured and calcu.1ated values of capacitance and maxirmum potential gradients in the three phase condition are tabulated for all the cases Of measurement, and average values of corona loss are given as functions of volt- age for various meteorological conditions in the form of graphs and a table. It is considered that the classification of weather conditions requires fuither attention. The period of the tests has extended over two years with one kind of 2/3 conductor and 9 months with another. There is considerable dispersion of experimental results in good weather, both because Corona losses on 400 kV transmission lines. The scatter of experimental points in bad weather results from variations in actual weather con ditions. ABSTRACT: The results of a generalization in the coordinates of the criteria of 'the a.c.-corona characteristics , measured in 380-400 kV test lines showed the following. 1) The geo- metrical criteria and the criterion of homochroniam (gomokhronnost') do not exert any marke,d influence upon the generalized characteristics of the corona. losses. 2 ) The fundamental criterion of the generalization is the U~U criterion. TITLE: Micro-hardness Gauge for Rubber PERIODICAL: Zavod8kaya laboratoriya, 1959, Vol 25, Nr 9, pp 1127-1129 (USSR) ABSTRACT: The'micro-hardness gauges (MG) for rubber (R) (Ref 1) at present used possess a low sensitivity with respect to the hardness (H) change of (R) with medium or higher (H) (above 60 Shore units) and also show considerable differences with parallel measurements of one and the same sample. The micro- hardness of (R) is to be evaluated according to two readings taken within a certain period of time i.e. according to the depth of penetration of the indentor (1) which has definite dimensions and a definite shape and is under a'definite pres- sure, as well as according to the degree of residual deformat- ion (RD) after a reduction of the stress. A (11G) waa designed which permits measurements of the penetration depth of the (1) as well as the (RD) under the influence of temperaturep a medium, repeated deformations, ate., on (R) and similar Card 113 materials'. The following working procedure was chosen; P71 1 1 A Micro-hardness Gauge for Rubber S07/32-25-9-38/53 30 seconds load applications 60 seconds maintenance of full load, 30 seconds load removal. The device (Fig 2) basically consists of an optical system (with two objectives and an illuminator tube of the type 01-1), a semi-automatic load application units the (I) unit, the objective atnge, and a sturdy stand. The two latter parts were taken over from the (MG) of the type PMT-3 designed for metal tests. The total load of the (1) amounts to 21 g, the (RD) being determined at a load reduction of 20 g. For particularly accurate measurements A. L. Dorofeyev designed an electronic apparatus of the type IT-1 in the VIAM by means of which position changes of the M of 0-5 r can be measured. The tests showed that measurements of samplto of a thickness of 0-5-5 mm can be made. A linear function between the penetration depth of the (I and the (H) (Fig 3, measurements of SKB and SKN rubbers was determined according to Shore by means of the (MG) of the type TM-2. Hardness changes of 10 Shore units cor- respond to a,penetration depth change of the M of 40 P, i.e., the described (MG) is four times as sensitive as the Card 2/3 Micro-hardneso Gauge for Rubber SOV/32-25-9-38/53 device TM-2 according to Shore, and mayq in oontraot with the other devices, be used for measurements of tho hardest (R) types.
