4945 In 650 animals (do.-s, sheep, goats) ventricular fibrilla tion, y-roduced by electric
shock or drugs, was abolished b y condenser discharges and the heart acticn restored to nor-
mal for prolonged observation periods (10 days to 1~ months). There was a correlation
between the voltage thersholds of the condenser discharges necessary to abolish
fibrillation and the weight of the animal, and an inverse relationship between threshold
voltage ~snd condenser caracity. Inclusion of an inducLive resistance from 0.3 to 0.5
henrys in the circuit 16wered the voltage thersholds. It is su,,'~,ustQd that condense-
discharges be triea in cases of electrocution in man.

ABSTRACT: A network of yeins of a colloform mineral, suggestive
in its outward aspect of allophane, has been
recognized in the Middle Cambrian carbonaceous-
siliceous shales of southern Kazakhstan. The
mineral is an opaline deposit which in milky white
in colors with faint greenish tints. Its fracture
is conchoidal td irregular; It ta brittle and Is

a combination of hydrous phosphate, silicate and, in part, sulfate

on the carbonaceous-siliceous and interbidded argillaceous shales.

indicated that their thermal load was insufficient# the

TITLE: The great Communist ejvelopment program in the teaching of
phyaics (Problems rX transportation development)
PERIODIGAL: Fizika v shkole, no. 2, 1962, 13 - 19
TEXT: This is the third articla of a series (the first two were published
in the same periodicalt no. 6, 1961, and no. 1, 1962) devoted to problems
of transportation development. It is suggested that the theses on
transportation contained in the program accepted at the XXII s"yozd KPS3
(22nd Congress of the CPSU) could well be elucidated in physics classes.
The problems include progress in transportation by rail, waterways
(maritime and inland navigation), road and airwap. When these problems
are dealt with, the further development of means of transport (electric
and diesel engines, nev types of motor vehicles and aircraft, ships
with underwater vanes), propulsion (gas turbines, turbojets, turboprops,
internal-combustion engines), an well as the exploitation of electricity,

Caries is due to a pathological :reflex: as long as normal cortico-dental relation-
ships are maintained, caries cannot occurs Experimentally,, damage to dentine and to the
enamel can be produced by changing the direction of the electroosmotic current from the
cebtrifugal to the centripetal., but this damage is not caries. Stomatologiya publishes
many articled in which the unscientific ("localistic") views are expressed that caries
is the to retention of food particles, I.e., purely local bacterial and chemical action,
and that it can be prevented by fluoridation of the enamels It is no accident that in-
creased emphasis on localism in the USA haz coincided with the penetration of knowledge
in regard to the beneficial results achieved under the Soviet system of public health
protection. 254T29
