Orig Pub iS, Kh..Sibiri, 1956, No 6, 57-61 Abstract iOne of the causes of the increased loss of embryos in eggs kept for a long time is the decrease in them of C02 ga. To compensate this loss in the preserved eggs, the eggs pre- vious to incubation were put into a hermetic vessel with 15-70 percent C02 for 2-3- 41 hours. Tests showed that the action of C02 on the chick, duch and turkey embroya stimu- lates the embryo development, increases the percentage of live birds, and makes the chicks more harmonious. In pro- duction tests and in incubating stations, the preincubation treatment of the chick, duch and turkey eggs produces the beat results in tests with chicken eggs. The need for high concentration of C02 and the necessity of the immediate in- sertion of eggs into the incubator after the treatment are w4phasized. Microstresses acting mainly near the growing ice crystals are to b3 differentiated from heat-elastic stresses which depend on the size of the sample, the rate of tile temperature change etc. N.A. Moshchanskly (Ref. 1), V.M. Moskvin and A.M. Pod- vallnyy (Ref. 2) showed that the results of the frost resistance tests are affected by the atronned atute caused by mechanical load. In the article the value of heat- -elastic stresses is estimated on the basis or tho lawn of heat conductivIty and the theory of elasticity. There are no data available for calculating -tile tompora- ture fields and the heat-elastic stresses for a cubic sample. A sphere was used, therefore, as an equivalent body. An analogous problem was solved in 1924 by Academician A,K, Dinnik (Ref. 3/1 for a half space. The temperature of the surface of a sphere is a function of the t1me'0,=* (r). The temperature at each point of a body (in the case of polar symmetry) Is determined by an equation in partial Card 1/ 4 S/097/60/000/009/003 /00 BAY A003/AO29 Eeat-Elastic Stresses in Concretes During Tests for Frost Resistance I D p 2 2 derivhtivest 2 (1). where a Is the a 5 T P r temperature conductivity of the material, X, c,'r is its heat conductivity, heat capacity and volumetric weight, respectively. The solution of equation (1) in the case of harmonic temperature change an the surface of the R7 ample with the ampli- tude 9 max has the following form: ON '0 max , -rr 2 (sin' pR-ch' pR + cos pR-sh pR x [ (sinpr - chpr + cospr - shpr) - sinkr, + ksinpr - chpr - cospr - shpr) - coskr) - (2). where p = 1-7t . k Ln, T is the period of temperature fluctuation on the sur- face of t9e =a T sample. It is known from the theory of elasticity that, the radial -tensions In a sphere with polar Rymmetry of the , jemperature field are expressed by the formula: 6- 2 EG( 2 2 1 1 J, [", )r dr (3)- the center of the field a r = , pfr, - 7 09(r)r dr] . In homogeneous stressed state d,=dy=d,,L-6(j is present. If the. trigonometric and hyperbolic functions are represented by series of powers of R, the following equation is obtained: 60max (1 2 V . R2 (5). For- mula (5) shows'that the heat-elastic Eol;~ 15 aT maximum tensions are proportional to max the square of the size of the sample, directly proportional to the amplitude of the temperature fluctuations on the surface of the sample and inversely proportion- al to the period of the temperature fluctuation. If the temperature changes by jumps, the curve of this change is "rectangular" and I regresented within the Ls range from 0 toTby the Fourier series 4 sin (2n-I)x , where n Is the number of the natural aeries r W T - M. 2n - 1 (1,2,3...). While peak and valley datoctorl am useful in automatic control, existing systems lack rvliability and accuracy. The proposed system is based on a magnetic pulse-width modulator, capable of generating square waves, whose width is linearly related to the amplitude of the input signal, Card 1/2 ACC NRt--AT60233 1910 Nproviding that the input signals are also square waves. The output of the modulator Igates a high frequency pulse generator, such that a pulse train is produced, in which ithe number of pulses is directly proportional to the magnitude of the monitored signal ,:The ratio of the operational frequency of the modulator to the frequency of the pulse generator determines the accuracy (resolution) of the detector. After the A/D conver-I ;sion, the signals from various sources am compared in pairs in anti-coincidence logic- fal circuits. The output, corresponding to the greater (or the smaller) of the two in-I puts, is then compared to the output of another anti-coincidence circuit, etc " until_ the desired maximum (or minimum) signal is detected. Only a minor modification is re .quired to convert the system from a peak to a valley detector. The accuracy of a sys- item of 50 cps line frequency carrier and 10 KHz clock rate is 1%. The author suggests .applications in detecting equipment failures, qu~~ty control ?f manufactured products,I and in automatic adaptive system-S.
