Abstract-. The results of year-long tests in intervuriets.1 hybrictiza-
tion show that F, is usually distinguished by fast-ripen-
ing and uniformity in morphological cbaracteristics and
its vegetative period. The variation factor in F2 is sev-
eral times bigber than in its parents. The selection of
parents according to the length of the individual periods

oiidatioh and decarboniza'tlon processes of the alloy steel grades P 18 (RIB),
MX15 (ShKnl5) and xr (KniG) in an atmosphere of products of Incomplete combustion
of natural gas. Engineer V. N. Danilevich participated in the work. Cylindrical
specimens 19 - 21 mm in diamter and 50 - 51 mm In length were tested. A ache.-natic-.
drawlng and a description of the test installation is given. The testsare also
described In detail. A complete oxidation stop could not be observed with any of,
the steels tested, even at a coefficient of air consumption a 0.4, although
in this case the magnitude of loss through burning was Infiniteely small and
amounted to some thousandths of gr/cm2. It follows from the tests that in the

TEXT: A method for calculating gas burners Is described, which functions on
a,mixture of propane-butane (high-pressure gas) with air (low-pressure gas).
Such a burner represents a usual gas ejector with a cylindrical mixing chamber.
The fundamental calculation relationships are obtained under conventional
assumptions that friction is absent, the parameters are uniform over the cross
section, etc. The results from the presented method satisfactorily agree with
the experimental data, A nomogram is plotted for simplifying the computations
of burners ]:~Anctionlng on natural gas (propane-butane).

ABSTRACT: A general equation is derived which describes the mixing or a
gas jet and air jet when the Gas burns in injection burners operating with
variable flow parameters. The nonadiabaticity of the flow or the gas-air mixturo
entering the tunnel of,tho burner is taken into account. The solution of the
general injection equation makes it possible to determine the nozzle diameter
for designing purposes, assuring the required completeness of gas combustion for
the assumed geometry of the burner and the predicted jet parameters. It also
makes it possible to find the expeotod air consumption coefficient for a burner
of predetermined geometry and jet parameters. Mio exporimontal data are in

Abstract: In the experiment made at the Tbilisakiy Botanical
Garden the changes were studied in the composition
of 3 wheat variety populations of Eastern Georgia.
Diverse varieties or Triticum vulgare enter into
these populations in different proportions. The
populations of Tetri Dolis Puri and Tsiteli Dolis
Puri belong to the Kartalinskiy ecotype of soft
winter wheats which differs according to the zones

Abstract: of cultivation. The Rachula populations belong to
the group of Kakhetinakly wheats and are character-
ized by the summer or semi-winter type of develop-
ment. During 1946-1951 the varieties studied were
transplanted yearly. The various varieties of the
populations studied showed not only morphological
but biological divergences as well: the bearded forms
in the experiment had greater vitalitlyo as well as
being more drought and winter hardy than the non-
bearded varieties; the ferrugineum kinds of bearded
forms were more winter hardy than the erythros-
permum. In connection with this, corresponding
changes In the make-up of the populations studied
occurred. In the Tetri Dolis Purl population the
amount of ferrugineum variety contained grew dur-
ing the years of the experiment from 8.2 to 19.5%;

ABSTRACTs An Investigation was mad* to determine the nature of the
energy levels in the forbidden zone of p-type silicon produced by
radiative defects appearing due to Irradiation with feet neutrons,
Specimens 1.5.x 3 x 10 an with a resistivity of 80 ohm-cm (alloyed with
boron) and a dLolocstion_danoLty of 104 cm-2 with oxygen concentrations
of 1018 CM-3 and 1016 cm 3 were polishid and etched. The specimens wore
irradiated with fast neutrons In a reactor at 60C. The thermal neutrons
were screened with a cadmium filter. Gamma-rays accounted for four
percent of the radiation, All specimens were Irradiated with a dose of
6.6 x 1016 n/CK2 under similar conditions, The opect Ic resistance of
the first type of specimens (oxygen concentration, 1.0f~ co-3) Increased

up to 1.3 x 106 ohm-cm; that of specimens of the second type (oxygen
concentrationg 1016 cm-3) increased up to 106 ohm-cu. The hole nobility
decreased almost equally for both types of specimens, i.e., from 220 to
20 C02/goc. Heasurements of the Hall effect for both types of sp~cL-
son@ showed that Irradiation with fast neutrons sharply decreased the
concentration of holes (by almost two orders) and lead to the appear-
once of radiative defects of the donor impurity type which.cr*ated now
electron levels with depths of EV + 0.45 ev (20.01 ev) and Ev + 0.42-ev
(20.01 ev) for the first and second types of specLuenes respectively.
The defects, which were stable up to 300C, annealed -at 400C. The
Ev + 0.29 ev level, with & small concentration (2.74 x 1013 cu-3)
appeared at this point. The effectiveness of the defect formation
caused by fast neutrons is 10-e"-cm-1. Since the specimens had a similar
small density of dialocatLonqg~',~the assumption can be made that the given
energy levels do not belong to defects localized on the dislocations.

of the Soviet Union's Communist Party history raises many new

under these conditions, is very important. The best help is
considered to be a discussion of the lecture texts, the method-
ical working plans and of group visits to lectures, provided
all teachers take active part in such discussions. A further
means of group work is the review of literary and archive

which were attended by all the sociology teachere,of the re-

ABSTRACT: Results are given of experiments made to study the effect of
preliminary soaking beforp sowing of Lutestseus-62 wheat Needs in water solutiol
of N-substituted chloramide compound which are obtained from ketones and
~nonochloreacettc acid. Small doses of these solutions have been found to stimu-
late plant growth. Observations made over a period of two years showed that the
compounds had a favorable effect on the germination, growth and development of
the wheat, both Iii the laboratory and in the field. All phases of development of
