TM: When heating large-size forgings 400-800 mm in diameter made from
structural steel prior to hardening, normalization or annealing, accelerated heat-
ing conditions can be used,by putting the charge Into a furnace preliminarily
heated to 850-9500C. The calgulation of temporary intemd'L stresses carried out
on the basis of experimental data obtained by measuring the temperature during the
heating process showed that an accelerated heating of large-size forgings is per-
missike. An equation was derived for the calculation of the temperature field of
forgings at the initial and final heating stages. The authow present formulae for
the oaloulation of the maximum.temperature difference over the cross sention and
for the determination of the moment corresponding to -the maximum temperature drop

previously described (S. S. Batesnov, A. A. Deribii.a. Ontuchno-tekbni-
cheskiye problemy goreniya i vzryva, 1965s 'Is 103) at-avidard steel
ampoule, 5 mm In diameter and 40 mm high, Ln which 0.7r.-.1.2 g samples
of KNO3 were subjected to hexogen explosions (70r"1-3.50 ;1;). The second

was attached to a massive steel plate:for a rapid:'-cooling. The third

TM: When heating large-size forgings 400-800 mm in diameter made from
structural steel prior to hardening, normalization or annealing, accelerated heat-
ing conditions can be used,by putting the charge Into a furnace preliminarily
heated to 850-9500C. The calgulation of temporary intemd'L stresses carried out
on the basis of experimental data obtained by measuring the temperature during the
heating process showed that an accelerated heating of large-size forgings is per-
missike. An equation was derived for the calculation of the temperature field of
forgings at the initial and final heating stages. The authow present formulae for
the oaloulation of the maximum.temperature difference over the cross sention and
for the determination of the moment corresponding to -the maximum temperature drop

ampoule, 5 mm In diameter and 40 mm high, Ln which 0.7r.-.1.2 g samples
of KNO3 were subjected to hexogen explosions (70r"1-3.50 ;1;). The second
