The instrument set includes a table of parailacti~ coefficients (H/b) using which one can easily determine (from a corresponding altitude of photo- graphing and measured base) elevation by the formula: h - (H/b) -Lp. Dokladyq v. 143P no. 5~ 1962, 1139-1141 TEXTs The polymerization of ethylene at 75 0C# i.e., below the m.p. of the polymer I on a chromium oxide catalyst, whose preparation has been described earlier (DANt U6p no. 19 125 (1961)), is discussed. The experiments were made with high-purity C 2H4 (1-2 ppm 021 3 PPm H20) in purified n-heptane at constant pressure (5-15 atm). The following results were obtained (Fig. 1)1 (1) an induction period was observed (30-150 min), which was shorter at higher pressure and higher concentration of the catalyst; (2) after the induction-period the reaction rate remained constant for a long tim* (at low catalyst concentration up to Card 1/3 8102 62/143/005/014/OiB Low-temperature polymerization ... B101YO110 20 hrs); (3) the polymer consisted of 0.2 to 3 mm large granulae; (4) the initial grains of the catalyst had a aize of 0-5 to i mm- Catalyst particles of 1-10,p-were found on the eurfacip (not In the bulk) of the polymer grains; (5) a threshold concentration of the catalyst exists below which there is no polymerization. Hence no polymerization occurred with 0.0274% cat at in the solvent, and a slight ly polymerization with 0 .032~1 (6) the activity# Ap of the catalyst, depends on the pressure, P; A apn (a,n a constants). The solubility of methyl chloride and ethyl chloride in chlorobenzene is subject to Rapd-t's law. The solubility of the investigated chlorosilanes in 'chlorobonsens is significantly lower than in ideal solvents. The'solubility in all the systems Investigated decreased with increa"*in temperature The heat of solution (Iccal/kg) was calculated: nothyl chloride i20; ethyl chloride 98.1; mothyldichlorosilans 95o6; d1methyldichloro- sildne 72s Thus the absorption of all these compounds in chloro- benzene is accompanied by evolution of large amounts of heat. Under these cond.-- tions, 9011o of the A1203 is extracted in the solution, and its concentration therein is 110 g/liter. The major impurities in alunite rock (Fe and 5i) do not go into solution. Dokladyq v.
