Abstract The author replies to the criticisms of V. A. Kozlov
and S. A. Kudryashov (this journal, No. 10, 1955).
He disagrees with V. A. Kozlov as to the scale of ca-
pacities of the substations. Most of his remarks,
according to the author, are based on an insignificant
example to which the author devoted only few lines.
The author also disagrees with the statement that he
violated.the Safety Rules. As to the remarks of S. A.
Kudryashov, he also disagrees with him on short-circuit
capacities. This is because existing types of circuit

breakers used at these substations require such high
limiting capacities. This corresponds also to stan-
dards accepted in the USA (see cut of an Allis-Chalmers

connection diagrams presented in his article as
satisfactory. One photograph, 1 drawing,

ABSTRACT: Design of electric-supply schemes for modern industrial plants is
based on two methods: (1) using smaller substations, and (2) bringing the
supply lines deep into the load area. The first method implies the minimum
distance between a departmental substation and a load center, which insures
savings on copper, reduced energy losses and voltage fluctuation. The second
method permits connecting departmental substations directly to subtransmis-
sions and eliminates main step-down substations or central distributing stations.

Modern Electric-Supply Circuits and Load -Importance Categories at Industrial . . . .
A deep entrance of 35-kv line as compared to the 6-10-kv line can result in
savings up to 50-70%, A description and sketches are presented of some
economical structural solutions: a small-size 35-kv substation for a deep
entrance, I 'loop -connection boxes, " and an "entrance unit" for underground-
cable departmental lines with disconnecting switches. It in emphasized that
3-10-kv cables are increasingly replaced by busways, which are cheaper, more
reliable, and have a higher overload capacity. A new power -distribution circuit
using double bu.s connections between two supply sources insures a reliable link
between the sources in addition to continuity of power supply to the consumers.
Substituting buitways for cables results in about 50% savings on copper and
energy losses but is accompanied by a 10-30% increase in capital investment.
A new sump ension -insulator buaway in described. Flexible buaways are recom-
mended for supplying industrial load* directly from 6-10.kv buses of generating
stations and substations. Using flexible bunways instead of cables within an

industrial department results in about 2S% savings on capital investment.
Three catef,,,,ories of load importance have been established on the basis of the
required continuity of supply and minimum reserve costs. The first-category
loads should be supplied at all times, or the supply should be Instantly and
automatically r e stored - A scheme with two independent power sour "ces and
sectionalized buses complies with this requirement. The second-category
loads permit switching of the reserve by the personnel on duty. The third-
category loads tolerate supply interruptions required by repair work on a faulty
system component. Economical expansion of an electric-supply system is
possible only with correct determination of load categories. It in suggested
that tables of receiver categories for all branches of industry be developed and
endorsed.

in case of failure, as they guarantee an uninterrupted feed-
ing. They can also be utilized on 2 lines for small power
objects requiring uninterrupted feeding. Such systems are
permitted under the New Regulations of Electric Installations
for cable lines with 2nd category loads where replacement of
the cable ia difficult and a long interruption of feeding is
not permissible. It is not recommended, however, that this
system be used with more than 2 lines,

ABSTRACT: On October 17, 1957 there was a sessioxi of the
technical council of the State Planning Institute
Tyazhpromelektroproyekt on the large ujuit erection of
electrical equipment. The Technical Council of the
Institute took a number of decisions on the further
development of industrial methods of electrical erection
work and in particular on the use of large unit erection,
One of the main tasks is to introduce as widely as
possible the manufacture of complete and packaged
installations. Design should provide for electrical
installation work to be carried out in completed
buildings. Designs should be prepared for pre-erection
of large units of busbars and similar structures. In

ABSMCT: The action of ultrasound on the thermal stability of silicon liquids (3L)
has been investigated. The liquids were irradiated for 1 - 20 minutes
at an ultrasonic frequency of 300 kc, an intensity of 40 - 60 w/cm2, a
layer thlokness of 49 mm. The thermal stability was studied by the
kinetics of the change in the kinematic viscosity at 200C and the time
of gelatinization of SL exposed to ultrasound in dependence on the time
of thermostatic regulation at 2000C. It has been shown that non-irradiated
SL gelatinize after thermostatic regulation in the course of 90 hours, where-
as irradiated SL preserve their fluidity for 120 - 150 hours. For several

Abstract The author replies to the criticisms of V. A. Kozlov
and S. A. Kudryashov (this journal, No. 10, 1955).
He disagrees with V. A. Kozlov as to the scale of ca-
pacities of the substations. Most of his remarks,
according to the author, are based on an insignificant
example to which the author devoted only few lines.
The author also disagrees with the statement that he
violated.the Safety Rules. As to the remarks of S. A.
Kudryashov, he also disagrees with him on short-circuit
capacities. This is because existing types of circuit

It in suggested
that tables of receiver categories for all branches of industry be developed and
endorsed.

The author describes the common switch diagrams in figure 1
and 2 and states that such systems can be temporarily used
in case of failure, as they guarantee an uninterrupted feed-
ing. They can also be utilized on 2 lines for small power
objects requiring uninterrupted feeding. Such systems are
permitted under the New Regulations of Electric Installations
for cable lines with 2nd category loads where replacement of
the cable ia difficult and a long interruption of feeding is
not permissible. It is not recommended, however, that this
system be used with more than 2 lines,

ABSTRACT: On October 17, 1957 there was a sessioxi of the
technical council of the State Planning Institute
Tyazhpromelektroproyekt on the large ujuit erection of
electrical equipment. The Technical Council of the
Institute took a number of decisions on the further
development of industrial methods of electrical erection
work and in particular on the use of large unit erection,
One of the main tasks is to introduce as widely as
possible the manufacture of complete and packaged
installations. Design should provide for electrical
installation work to be carried out in completed
buildings. Designs should be prepared for pre-erection
of large units of busbars and similar structures. In

ABSTRACTt At the end of the year 1958 an All-Union Conference shall
be called for the purpose of generalizing the first ex-
perience in the reorganization of the 14TS which shall also
work out the necessary recommendationa on the further per-
fection of the production of collective economy. Accor-
ding to the opinion of the collaborators of the institute
it would be necessary to establish special repair shops in
the kolkhozes. The service stations existing in the country

motor vehicles and others. The workers of the MS which
change over to the kolkhozee must maintain their earnings
and the rights of workers and employees of a state enter-
prise. The agricultural secondary schools should adapt the
science of agricultural machines as a oubjec-b. The questions
of the financing of kolkhozes are considered as very impor-
tant. A current amortization must also be organized which
requires a revaluation of the kolkhoz properby. For the
purpose of buying fuel and lubricants the working capital
of the kolkhozes must be increased ani the problem of bank
credits settled. The existing method of the raising of mo-
ney and buying must be changed, the state should make se-
veral years contracts with the kolkhozes. An economic esti-
mation of the country as well as a correct determination of
the dimensions and the drawing of the differential revenue
shall also be performed. The problem of eoll-land-registers,

The collective of the Institute for Philosophy AS USSR
in its plenary meeting discussed the me&SUTOB of the
communist party and the Soviet government ~concerning the
future development of the kolkhoz order as well as the
reorganization of the machine and tractor Stations. The
following persons took part in the meeting: representati-

tatives of public organizations of the Novo-Petrovsk
district, region of Moscow# P, W. Fe4osevev, Director of
the Institute for Philosophy# in hivreport emphasized
that the problem of the reorganization of the MTS not
only was of a practical but also of a great theoretical
importance. In the discussion I. M. Bakay, Director of

plicated processes in the Soviet village. A. T. Fedorova
spoke on the necessity of improving the teaching of histo-
rical materialism. H. D. Kammari, chief editor of the perio-
dical "Voprosy filosofii" advocated the opinion that the
philosophers should more deeply penetrate into the problems
of economics. The assembly approved of the solutions of the
further development of-the kolkhoz order and outlined a

For several
Card 1/2 SL the optimum time of Irradiation proved to be 4 minutes, and the stability
