The bonding was do-ne at 1373, 1423, 1448 and 1473K under a specific pressure of 1.0, 1.5 2 0 2 5 :3.0 and 3.5 kg/mm2. The machined specimens were annealed in a vacuum of io 4 t1or: 4.3-10-2 n/m2) at the bonding temperature for3 min, pressed and held together for 6 xxin under a given pressure and then air cooled. The beat results were obtained at bondinjj temperatures of 1423-1448K under a. spetif ic pressure of 2.5-3.0 k8/mB2, a holding tims of 6 min. amd a vacuum of not less than 10-11 tor. The better the faying surface finish and the shorter the time between their machining and bonding, the higher was the bond strength. The bonds made under optimum conditioi L 06536-67 ACd-RRt AP6034 765 had a tensile strength of 72.0-76.2 kg/mm~ and an elongation of 37.3-45.6Z at room temperature; the corresponding figures at 1073K were 35 kg/mm2 and 27Z. All these I indices corresponded or were close to those for the base metal. Diffusion bonding with intermediate nonmelting nickel inserts P~.l mm thick was done at 1423K with a holding time of 6 irtin. The tensile strengthTif these bonds was OOZ of the strength of the base metid jit room temperature and 100% at 1073K. Annealing for 8 hr at the normal operating timperature of E1602 alloyt(SOOC) did not affect the tensile strength and ductility of Ow joints. But the stress-rupture strength was appreciably lower than 5hat of the Joints without inserts. The mechanical properties of the joints with nick,A inserts can be increased by decreasing the Insert thickness. Thin melting foil d electrolytically or vacuum-evaporated intermediate films can be used to ensure satisf f5pory iontact in low-pressure (about LO kg1vs?) diffusion bonding of thin-sheet structures. The results of investigations on the conditions and reactions to be used for the synthesis of to -N15-lysine and 6-05-ornithine are reported. The authors departed from the mynthesoe described in publications in trying at firpt to carry out the gyntheels by condensing Poatass ium N';'-Phthalimide with 5-0-bromobatyl) hydantoin Card 113 (Ref 5). Howeverp only half of the synthesized 1yeine, obtainea Investii;ations Concerning Compounds With Radioactive SOV/70-28-8-46/66 C14 and Ni5. IX, Oynthesis of the t4 415.Axino Acids in 50~ yieldg contained the radioactive nitrogeft. It was obvious from a theoretical view-point that the undesired reaction may be avoided by substitution of hydrogen in the 3-NE-groups by a radical. To avoid this side reaction 5-(6-bromobutyl)-3-phanyl hydantoin was condensed with the potassium phthalimide -N15. The former could be synthesized in better yield from6 -oxy-a-aminoceproic acid (Diagram 3), among other acids , ThO 4 _N1 5-lyiine was a,-,%thesized by this condensation reaction under the conditions described previuusly (Ref 2). 6-N15-ornithine was synthesized by the condensation of potassium N15-phthalimide with (y-bromogropyl)-N-phthelo- ylaminomalonio eater and with (V-bromopropyl)-N-acetyl- aminomalonic ester. Subseqiient hydrolysis wad decarboxylation of -the phthaloyl derivatives led to radioactive ornithine with.a yield of 65-70%, calculated on the basis of the pot, assiuja X15-phthalimide (tables and reaction schene). Abstract: tiescribed are methods of synthesis of phthallmide-W15 (I); of potassium salt of phthalimide-Nl5(II); HN1503 (III)* HC14N.; salts Of III-HN1502 and HC 14N. 10-150 moles N15H3 (from 0.1 Hole W15H4N03) are passed for 3 hours into a suspension of 0.105 mole of phthalic acid.4n 400 cc vater the solution is evaporated, the remainder is heated (2000) and sublimated (290-3000); then it is ground with-water and neutralized with a 5% solution sods, yield yield is 1, 98- 99%. To a hot solution of 0.1 mole I is 350 cc anhydr., aLcohol is added 50 cc 2N C2H50K, yield is 11, 98-99%, 0.15 mole N15H3 and o.82 mole KMnO4 in 750 cc water are heated in an autoclave for 8 hours at 170-180, 14n02 is separated, the filtrate is evaporated to 250-300 cc, neutralized with 20% H2SO4, evaporated to dryness, and 9fter adding 70 cc H2So4, (d 1-5) 111 is distUled off. By neutralizing III with alluilies the nitrates with a yield 82-84% are obtAtined. By the reduction of 0.01-0.05 mole Kn 1503 (or Nan'503) by means of 0,015-0-075 g-atom Pb at 3900 (for the preparation fian1502--at 330o) KnI502; yield 91-931, is obatined. ficl.41i is obtained with a yield 92-96% by a method described earlier (Maymind V. I., T Tokaryev B. V. , Shemyakin M. M. Dok1- AN SSSR, 1954, 81~ 195), by heating (750-7800) Eam.403 K and Kn3 in a current of N2 and Subaeq~.ient neutralization with H2SO4. In order to obtAineKC14H the vapors of HC14N wre passed through CaC12 at 400 absorbed by anhydro. alcoholat -250, and precipitAted with a solution of CM50K or spontaneously absorb HC14N with solution of an alcoholate. TITLE: On the Reaction Nechanism of 0saxone Formation PERIODICAL: Dokiady Akademil nauk 358R, 1959P Vol 128p Wr 3, PP 564-566(USSR) ABSTRACT: In spite of many investigations (R*fs 1-15), the formation of onazones from a-oxycarbonyl compounds remaina unelvar. All respective hypotheses and on oumptions can be reduced to 3 schemes: A (Ref 1), B (Ref,3), and C (Rof 3)- In order to find the correct ach*mop the onazone reaction was marked with 15N. If Chou A applies, tbe'resulting ammonia may not contain 0 15N. but he 15H must completely retain in the an exces: in o9azone. If, howoverj scheme B is correaty the oeazone will remain unmarked while the ammonia will contain the entire marking. Finallyp if scheme C is the right onep the 15N excess will be distributed, in equal shares, between oaazone and ammonia. Unfortunatelyt thq i4yeattgation of the mechanism under discussion by means of tagged atoms in much impeded by the fact that the marking may be dilvied by exchange reactions, hydrolysis or substitution. Those secondsmy processes could be avoided to a-large extent, by producing the oeazonee in Card 1/3 boiling isoamyl alcohol and removing the water from the reac- OnIffie Reaction Mechanism of Onazone Fom ation .
