ABSTRACT:

RVVN-3 valvetype dischargers, connected to -rhe neu-
tral of 6 kv synchronous compensators, are frequently
.damaged during thunderstorms. Tn November 1958, a
similar case occured in the author's power distribu-
tion system with.a RVVY-3 discharger, One ofthe pha-
SE!S of a mixed open air and cable power line had a
ground short circuit of 3-4 minutes duration, The
protectors disconnected the 7500 kva synchronous com-
pensator, whose neutral contained a RVIT'i.1-3 discharger.
The discharger and the RVR operation counter were da-
maged, as shown in Figure 1 and 2. The RVVT-,T-3 dis-
charger had been tested in 1957 with a megohmmeter at
a voltage of 2.5 kv and was found to be serviceable,,
When the discharger was opened after the damage bad
occurred, a considerable pressure was found in it-s

interior which-was caused by continuous arcing and
.which indicated its defective conditions, The authors
state that RVIM-3 dischargers cannot be used for
protecting neutrals of generators a-ad synchronous
6 kv compensators, operating on open air and cable
lines. For satisfying the requirements of 123 of
the instructions concerning overvoltage protection,
the RVVY discharger, connected to the neutral, must
be converted to phase voltage. However, the plant
_IjP:rolet6,riyII-- does - not - produce such -discharger s_. A
note-fromthe editor says -that VTT.II_*E.or_.tITeploelektro-_
proyekt" shouldbe given theord6.F~-'to calculate the-
voltage levels .,ihich may arise-during network failures--
and transient conditions in the neutral of 3-10 kv
machined. The technical requirements for such di,s:-
chargers must then be determined on-the basis of these
calculations. The plant "Proletariy" in turn must
produce such dischargers which correspond to modern
Card 2/3 requirements. There are 2 photograp'as and 1 Soviet

TEXTv- The author considers the-generalized sumaZion methods defined by
Sikorski (Ref.2). The author generalizes the notion of faithful convargence
to these methods and with the aid of it he investigates fiome general
proporties of faithful convergence methods of Sikoraki. Since the matrix
method, the continuous funotional method and.the integral method for a
summation are special cases of the method of Sikorski, from the considerations
of tite author there result as conclusions several well-known theorems on
matrix methods and continuous methods and some new theorome on integral
