TEXT: The author attempts to-elimina ficulties
by linearizing the flow rate boundary conditions- To'illustrate
the assumption, a cylindrical suspension with one supercharging
line is considered I and it is.supposed that in the case of non-
concentric position of the cylinders the rate of flow across
every element of the supercharging line is determined only by
the critical flow rate and the resistance of a corresponding-
el-ementary channel. This gives a linear boundary condition. To
Nerify the admissibility of the assumption# the problem of flow

Abstract It was demonstrated that Bactchum nocrophorum has no
etiologic significance in the foot rot of sheep. 7ba poor
conditions of mintonance., want of exercise, and untimely
triming of the hooves, constitute the min causes of'
disease. When the sheep are dept together, the disenze is
not transmitted from the sick to the healthy animaln.

~ABSTRACT, :- In 1953 (as compared to.1947), the charge capacity of Waelz
redox furnaces increased by 79 %, while' the Zn and Pb capacity-
increased by 52.7%. The extraction.of Zn and Pb i:nto oxide!i in-
creased by 8.4% and 15.1%, respectively, which, in turn, re-
sulted in a 69.5% increase in the output of these metals. The
improvements in the process included drying of Utio, cakes, cer-
tain design modifications in (tie dust-collecting unita, adher, ence
. ... .. specificatlowi-relative-.to the--attainmelit of proper-c-harge com-__
position, grinding of charge components, and inti-c(lucing theni
into the furnace af. an even rate. Processing of slags from Flb
shaft smelting is described, and recommendations for the design
of certa in -elements of the furnace- are- given, together -with sug-

biochemistry, biophysics, microbiology, g,anetics

an intensified general-biologioal, scientific-

from the biological departments of universities.
To improve the training of teachers, a course in
psychology has been included in the new curriculum,
Pra the number of hours assigned to pedagogics
and the methods of teaching biology and

for research laboratQries, biological stations and
other scientific institutions. This makes it, necQ-
ssary to.prolong the term of otudy for those atudenta
who will not be -assigned to schoola for 6 months.
According to the project, university graduates will
be able to choose - either to defend a graduation
thesis or to pass state examinations in dialectical
and historical-materialium, biology and mothods
of teaching biology and chemistry. Projec-; curri-
cul-ams on biology also have been drawn up for
evenang_schools and correspondence departments.

ABSTRACT:- The paper:presents the-results of an investigation of vesitila-
ting-f low ~reversai-conducted -in mines-and-on an especially-pre-----
pared experimental setup. Generalizing the extensive experi-
mental data, the author arrives at the following conclusions:
ity of a4r
1. When the ventilating flow is-reversed, the quant
.entering the mine is- smaller than that corresponding to normal
ventilation. Z. The natural pressure- distribution In mineit, as
a rule, favors the ventilating system in normal ventilating but
opposes it in reversed ventilating. - 3. The quantity of air en-
tering the mine during the reversal process increases, bul: the
natural draft decreases in proportion to the time that the ventila-
tor is in reversed operation. 4. After the ventilator has been

changes sharply, thus possibly causing a change in.the sense of the natural
pressure. distribution. 5. The ventilating stream reversal occurs over a
certain period of time, the value of which depends on the ma8nitude of ti',-ie
natural pressure resistance to the reversed stream.
