TEXT: A description is given of a device for the smooth mechanical tuning
of reflex klystrons by changing the distance between the grids, whereby the
parallelism between these grids Is maintained. The tuning gear consists of a
pair of small levers, the position of which Is replated with the help of a
differential screw.

TLYT: A description is given of a lever-type retuning mechanism consist-
ing of two control levers and of one transmission lever, The exterior end of the
latter Is In contact with the tuning screw which Is located Inside the klystron.
A screw pressing one of the control levers is located at the _~nterlor end of the
transmission lever. The whole mechanism is sdt up Inside the box - on the side
of the klystron. The device may be used for Instantaneous switching over ib
another generation frequency.

"Determination of Radioactive Iodine in Plants."
Bratislava, Biologia, Vol 21, No 8, 1966, pp 578 588
Abstract:: The authors describe a method of measuring the ae-
11-31- in-plant materials eitherdirectly or after
treatment* V31 is detected by means-of scintillation de-
tectors.i.tsing beta or !r-,amma radiation. When 1131 is the only radio-
active element present, chemical treatment of the sample is not
needed; when other active elaments are prosent.I may be determined
spectromettrically or after a chemical treatment. 1131 is extracted
plant materials by-MaOH at-10GO'C; the extraction can be im-
proved-by.ultrasonio devices*.. Separation-ooncentration methods-re-
commended are: extraction-precipitation; ion exchange by a solid and
liquid anion exchanger; chemical sorption* 7 Figures 03 Tables, 3

PERIODICAL; Uch. zap. Kabardino-Balkarsk..un-t, 195'7, Nr 2, pp 279 - 283
ABSTRACT: In a previous study (RZhFiz, 1957, Mr 10, 25084) tho author made an
approximate calculation of the surface tension of cubic-syngony metals
on the basis of one of the variants of the Ion-eleatron polar model.
In the present study it Is shown that the formulae for determLning the
surface tension coefficient and its temperature depcndence for cubic-
system metals yield satisfactory results for metals with a hexagonal
close-packed structure. The author compares the values of the surfac.3
tension and temperature dependence calculated by means of these formulae
for a number of metals of hexagonal compact structure with values that.
were obtained eyperimentally. In spite of the crudeness of the metal
model that was used and the approximateness of the entire calculation, the
computed values stand in satisfactory agreement with t1ie experimental ones.

PERIODICALs Kolloidnyy zhurnall 1956P Vol XXO Nr 2, pp 170-173 (USSR)
ABSTRACTs Several experimental facts indicate that the surface tension
in small droplets and crystals is greater than in large one5.
The boiling temperature of water condensed in micro-poron
depends on the diameter of the pores. S.V. Oorbachev deve-
loped a formula concerning the dependence of the surface
tension of minute spherical droplets on their radius of cur-
vature. It is known that the surface tension in crystals iv
different for different faces of the crystal. In a hig'aly
disperse Mstsl.Ue~ phase, a relatively largo numbor -,,)f par-
ticlea may be located in the corners an4 edges of crystals.
These particles have a supply of free a-irface enerej which
is different from that of the surface particles. For small
crystals, only an average value of the aurface energy can
be calculated. In this article, Gorbachev's formula has been
extended to the rase when the boundary aurface is character-
ized by the mean curvature. The surface tension of disperse
system has been shown to depend linearlir on their speciff-c

and temperature coefficients d 6/dT. The surface free energy per particle is as..
susned in calculation to be equal to F.-F. where F. and Fv are sammar~y free ener-
gies of the particle on the surface of a crystalline face and inside of an infi-
nito crystal respectively', and Pv is composed of oscillation energy Pos, and the
energy of particle bond E at T=G. Foso is calculated as a slam Df two parts:

closer Ion packing, i.eL. a transition from a NaCl structure to

experimentally using RbCl, CsCl, CsBr- and CsI. The following
