As a result, the number of traumatic accidents in

Ghekur and Kara-Kalpak parties and expeditions.
The improvement in medical service and in sanitary
conditions caused the reduction of siclmess cases
among the workers. Different trade-union organiza-
tions paid special attention to the introduction of
new tools, machines and working methods. The Com-
mittee also collaborated with the Srediae-Aziatskiy
nauchno-issledovatellskiy institut geologii i mine-
rallnogo syr1ya (Central-Asian Scientific Research
Institute of Geology and Mineral Ravi 7.11aterials)
and with the Filial Vsesoyuznogo nauchno-issledova-
tellskogo geologorazvedochnogo neftyanogo instituta
(Branch of the All-Union Scientific-Research Geo-
logical Prospocting Petroleum Institute) in conduc-
ting a large number of experimental works for the
of the latest technological achieve-
ments. The author further enumerates improvements

TEXT% As a result of investigations carried out in the
years 1953-1960 in IOKh AN SSSR and GrozNIX, a toohnological
scheme was developed for an industrial process of thermal
dealkylation of monocyclic aromatics such as toluene and methyl-
naphthalfinbs. A-pilot plant for the process producing
30 000 tons of.benzone per annum consists of a small numbor of
simple units. It contains a tubular furnaco of only
13 mil. cal./hour capacity. The main production indices for the
plant are as followas reactor pressure 30 atm; maximum
temperature 790 OC; separator temperature 35 OC;

pressure in benzene column 0.1-0.3 kg/cm2; temperature in
benzene column, top 87 OC, bottom 130 OC; pressure in the
recycle stock separation column 0.1-0.3 kg/cn2; temperature in
the recycle stock separation column, top 2600, bottom 304 OC;
molar ratio hydrogon/foodstock 4s1; space velocity of feed
4.0 h-1; consumption of hydrogen 2.1% trt of feedstock; yield
of benzene 78.7:~ wt of toluene. It was calculated that high
grade banzene produced by the.process from petroleum derived
toluene is considerably cheaper than that obtained currently in
the coking industry. It was established that thermal
demethylation of methyl naphthalenes (700 OCs 50 Atm) gives
naphthalene with a yield of ca.504,; wt of feedstock, after one
cycle.. The most viuitihblo raw materials for the process are
aromatic products obtained during reforming, pyrolysis and
catalytic cracking processes. it is expected that the deAlkyla-
tion process will constitute-an important source of benzene, and
naphthalene for the Soviet petro-chemical industry.
