ABSTRACT: Hoisting inatallations in mines consume 6-101a of the total electric
energy used by the rafne. This consumption depends on the shaft resistances,
the ratio of maximum.-to -mean speeds, the energy consumption by auxiliary
lifting operations, the efficiency of the motor and the gears. Most important
is the parameter (where v is the maximum and vm to the mean

speed of hoisting).' It Is obvious that hoist operation with low speeds, as well
as long-time transient processes, results in an overconsumption of energy
and in a reduction of productivity-of the installation. Investigations show that
actual energy consumption, as a rule, considerably exceeds the calculated

perties of Ozek-Suat (Stavropol' kray), Karabulak and Zamankul (Chechen-Ingush
ASSR) and Anastasiev (Krasnodar kray) petroleum and have carried out a detailed
study of the hydrocarboi composition of gasollnes from these source!;. Tablez
are presented showing the content of each hydrocarbon. as well as the totals for
the paraffin, cyclopentan, cyclohexan and aromatic series and the distribution by
i molecular weight within each series. The data show that gasolines obtained from
'r1affinic crude oils firom the Ozek-Suat, Karabulak and Zamankul regions are

1-characterized by a high content of straight-chain paraffinic hydrocarbons; this
q is most pronounced for the Ozek-Suat gasoline. For the Oxtlk-Suat and Zamankul
gasolines , the high cyclohexane content, a fifth of their total composition, is
also characteristic. Karabulak gasoline is characterized by a lower content of
hydrocarbons of this group, but the largest amount of aromatic hydrocarbons.
Zamankul gasoline Is the least aromatic. Gasoline from Anastaslev petroleum, In
contrast to gasolines from paraffinic crude oils, Is characterized by (a) a pre-
dominant amount of cyclohexane derivatives, (b) the almost complete absence of
straight-chain paraffinic hydrocarbons, (c) a very low content of aromatic hydro-
carbons and (d) a high content of Isoparaffins of highly branched structure*

In 5 cases of rheuiriatic pericarditis, without endocardial or nivocardi.11 inVOlVMCnt
and without articular pains, early treatment with salicylate %%ith bicarbonate in
massive doses gave an excellent 'Pesult. In 03 cases of rfieumatic pericarditis Aiith
myocardial lesions and I case with myocardial lesions as well as lesions of the mittal
and aortic valves salicvlate treatment produced clinical reco%-erN- and normalization
of the ECG. In 5 casei of rheumatic pericarditi- with myocardItis, in one of which
there was also mitral disease and aortic insufficiency of long standing salicylate

treatment led to disappearance of the friction murmur, except in the last case, but it
failed to influence the myocardial or endocardial lesions in any way. In 6 cases of
tuberculous pericarditis, 2 of them with myocardial lesions, demonstrated by
ECG, the salicylate had no effect on either the pericardial or the myocardial lesions.

Report of 7 cases of cystic pericardial formations: pericardial diverticula, peri-
cardial cyst. cyslAc pericarditis. The diagnosis was established on the basis of
the clinical signs (syndrome of irritation or compression), the radiological sips
(static or kynetic interdependence with the pericardium) and especially the kymo-
graphical signs. The positive and differential diagnosis and its significance with
reference to the inedicosurgical the'rapeutic attitude to be followed are discussed.

The dramatically good results of corticotherapy are demonstrated on the basis of
several clinical cases of pneumonia or bronchopneumonia of severe character in
which intensive multi -antibiotic and symptomatic treatment had tailed. No clinical
or radiological recurrences were observed. The duration of treatment was 4 to 6
