TEXT.- The authors point out that in small-batch production the ordinary~
methods of die-designing for die-casting have to be modified, since the diee
have to be simplified to the 6-m-atest extent, lightened and assembled from stand-
ard oqmponents. The authors #1ve a description of a new block-die intended for
casting machines with horizontal. pressing chamber. Compared to a former design
(see "Liteynoye proizvodstvo, no. 11, 1956) the new one makes it possible to use:
bigger insert-dies and lateral-feed gates only. The core seat has been essentlal~
ly inoreased, so that components of considerably larger dimensions with branched'
inner hollows can be cast. A detailed description Is given of the various die
elements and it is pointed out that the block-dies developed are particularly
suitable for insert-dies with vertical jointing planes, which permit to cast
'.parts of intricate configuration. Even reinforced parts, e.g. components rein-

this blonk-die, in which two cylindrical components are cast, insert-dies are
used whose gate -system is arranged in such a way that the metal feed is ensured
from one side, while at the peripharalo)otion, into which the metal gets last, i
~grooves with ventilation channels aro provided, which Inoreasea tho caatIng
density. Block-dies which maYe it possible to mount insert-dies with three
lateral cores can also be used for insert-dies with one or two lateral cores,
which increases their range of application. An original method of designing
dies for small-batch production has been developed at a plant. This princip]

consists in shaping the outer casting surface with recesses in two removable
serts with tapered fitting surfaces, which are mounted in thedescribed block-

ABSTRACT: This paper reports results of studies made by the
Anti-Brosion Station of the Institute of Soil
Sciences, Agricultural Chemistry and Reclamation in
the Moldavian Section of the AS USSR. It has been
established that ploughing and other agricultural
activities carried out down tfie slopes cause a sharp
increase in erosion. In comparison with these
practices, contour cultivation lessens soil erosion
on slopes from two to four times, and increases

upon local conditions. When down-the-slope cultivation is used,

discusses mechanization of agriculture and also certain means by

fied resins and the glass-laminates based on them was practically unaffected after
holding in water or 25%-aulfuric acid for 7-360 days. In general, the addition of
colophony was found to be beneficial with respect to water resistance and chemical

ABSTRACT: The authors present a model for generating and analyzing phrases with re-
opect to certain characteristics of the emotional sphere and the organization of hunian
memory. A series of problems Is encountered in the functioning of the model. These
problems are similar to the behavior of an automaton in random enviroments. A schemat-
Ic is given for the layout and components of this model (Fig. 1). The model consists of 7
separate units. These units are: the input wilt, the Into raction, unit, the emotion unit, the
r-esponse unit, the analysis unit, temporary memory unit and the permanent memory unit.
