TITLE: On the Hypogene 'Dispersion Halo of Rare Earths Arouad the

PERIODICAL: Doklady Akademii nauk SSSR, 1959, Vol 126, Nr 5t PP 1055-1057
(USSR)
ABSTRACT: The intrusion of t he biotite-nepholine-eyenites.(miaeoites)
mentioned in the title lies in the core of an antiOlinal fold of
meridional range. Thi's fold constitutes a structural part of the
Sysertako-Iltmenogprokiy antiolinorium and of the Illmenogorska3a
suite consi 'sting of gneiss and crystalline slate (tieparated out
by B. M. Ronenson in 1958). The endocontact varietles of the *
miascite were transformed into nepheline-less alkaline syenites
due to the interaction with the containing rocks. 'Me containing
rocks of the intrusion exocontact were metasomatically and
extensively transformed into aegivite-augite-microoline- and
biotite-microoline-phenites. In the phanite zone of the northern.
part of the Vishnevyye gory a great variety of rare earths was
-Card 1/3 ascertained. Besides the known rare earths (orthitev chovkinite,

and eschynite) also bastnasite, britholitel monaoite, rare-earth
thorianite, betafite and niobo-soohynite were found.'The rare
earths are also present in the calcite, ?phene (in tenths of
per cent) as well as in the apatite. Inside the Intrusion
mentioned in the title, manganese-orthite (Ref 3) was only found
singly. Various paragenetic associations of the minorals of rare
earths appear, which belong to different stages of the mineral
formation, which are genetically connected with the said
intrusion. The earliest paragenesis is apparently formed by
orthite-containing phenitesg gneiss transformed into phenite,
and the oalcite-diopoide-soapolite rocks. The next association
is bound to feldspar-pagmatites deposited in the phenites and
the above-mentioned gneiss (eschynitet betafitev orthite). one
part of these veins in silioeous miascitey another part is
quartz-miorooline-granite-pogmatite transformed into phenitea
A regular gravitation of the eschynite.to the endo- 'and ezo-
contact of the miasoite pegmatites deposited in oortaining rocks
speaks of an undoubtful loss on erosion,(vynos) of the rare
earths from the pegmatites into the rocks last mentioned@ The
Card 2/3 principal mass of the rare earths is scattered in, oalcite and

apatite. The moot interesting paragenetio aaeociationst in which
rare earths take part, belong to the 2nd phase of the
carbonatization stage which fill out the cracks of the phonite
as small veins. After the carbonatization stage, small veins of
quartz-arfvedsonite are formed in the phenitoo. All interesting
discoveries of chovkinite were made here. Also britholite
(r3cently found to be identical with lessingite (Ref 6)) was
found here, The composition of the rare earths in the said
minerals is very similar: Cerium dominates over all others. The
sum of lanthanum, cerium and noodymium, amounts, for example in
orthite, to 94-4% of the total Ruantity of rare earthop in the
chevkinite to 96, in the eschynito to 80.5%(according to data by
Ye.' M. Yes1kova) and in the calcite to 891/'o. There are 5 references,

TOPIC TAGS: military tactio,'militery training
ABSTRACT: A paratroop platoon can carry out reconneissanceof important
objectives in the rear of the enemy,, can destroy individual elements$
and con break communications and disrupt-service work, To carry out
these and other missions, paratroops are forced to act in complicated
situations. They must shift rapidly from one form of warfare to another,
with only,a. limited amount of military supplies,, means of transport,, and
heavy weapons, and they must.carry out swift movement's in difficult
.terrain by day and night. To this end, personnel must be well trained,,
particularly in the tacticalaspects. The article gives a detailed
description of a training maneuver involving the employment of
paratroops. It contains a.topograpbical map of the area and

Abstract: The results of damage by the swedish flies of
various grain grasses 1-4 years old and of var-
ious mixtures of grasses were reported in five
tables, The swedish fly damaged the majority
of cultured.and wild grain herbs, especially
the field fescue grass and the timothy grass In
the fall. One should avoid planting grains with
the grasses or dust with a 12% hexachloroeyolo-
hexane dust (8 kg/hect) the crops of the grains
when 2-3 leaves appear. -- A. P. Adrianov.

3, No. 4, 335 (1958)), the present measurements giving the higher Curie poInts in this
region. The solid solutiorn with the higher Curio temperatures had un1t C4111S with
larger volumes avA, in agreement with the findings of Mcquarry and Ikeda C;1o'--.cit.
supra) , higher degrees cf lattice tetragonality. The increase of the Curie temperature
with increasing calcium, decreasing barium, and constant lead content contradicts the
current opinion that lbeCuric temperatures of ferroelectrics with the perovskite
structure are increased by increasing the volume and polarizability of the ions at the
A-sites in AD03 crystals. The discrepancy between the present results and those ob-
tained by other authors with single compounds and binary systems is obviatuAy to be
explained by the fact that the laws governing the behavior of three-componvnt systems
containing A-type ions with different electronic structures are more complex than
those applicable to binary systems. The discovery of these laws will reqtd.re further
investigation. Orig. art. has: 5 figures and I table.
