TITLEi Study of.the dielectric properties of antimony selenida

TEXTs The dielectric constant F- of Sb Be without additions depends but
2 ~3
slightly on the frequency in the range from 100-1cops to 25 Mops. The
0.3%'Sb excess present in Sb Be effect's that F. and the tangent,of the
2 3
lose angle decrease noticeably'with increasing frequency in conliection
with a reduction of the ionic polarization. Additions of Pb, 3J., and S to
Sb Se result in an increase~of E. The dielectric constant of pure Sb Be
2 3 2 3
and of Sb Be containing additions increases with rising temperature.

A4iid the depth.of immersion of the electrodes is 12 mm. The, recti-
~fier was tested at 5-10 V ac with an average current 0.5--2.5 MA. A*
Is shown.that the threshold of such a rectifier is 3.2--'3.6 V.
The current in the dc circuit beginsto, flow only when the:instan-,
taneous ac supply volta'gd exceeds'this threshold value. The.,'recti-.:.',t.
fier operates with cut-off, theduration.of the conductingperiod
being less than 1800. A-formula is presented for the determination
of the average and effective values of the rectified current as a
f
unction of the cut-off angle. The rectification effect cW.'I be ob-
tained only at low.frequencies. At 1.5--2 kcs, the rectifij?r junc-
tion is shuntediby theiintrinsic.capacity and becomes-inopel-ative as
a rectifier. L. R.:

TITLEI Electronic influence of ferrocenyllas a substituent
SOURCES AN SSSR. Izvestiya. Seriya khimicheskayag no. 59 19669 832439
TOPIC TAGSt ferrocene, dissociation constant, aniline, benzoic, acidp phenol, substi-~
tuentj, amino
ABSTRACTI E~r determining values of Hammett's d~ 9 the authors studied certain alec-
tronic. effects of ferrocenyl as a substituent. Using acid-base potentiometric titra-
tions they determined the dissociation constants of p-p m-, and o-ferrocenylbenzoic
acidsl-a series of substituted benzoic.acids and forrocenecarboxylic acid in 70% di-
oxanel and the dissociation constants of p-ferrocenylphanol and a series of p-substi-
tuted phonols in 50% ethanol. The basicity constants of p-9 m-0 and o-forrocanylani-
lineal a series of p-substituted anilines, and ferrocenylamine in 80% ethanol wore
also determined. The data obtained were treated by the least-squares method, e val-
ues were calculated for tho reaction series studiodg d values wore found for forro-

cony.1 as sk substituent in various positions of the phenyl ring, and the induction con'
stant Cr was determined. The data showed that in the series of ferracenylbenzoic
acidsy Ue strongest is o-ferrocenylbenzoio acid; p- and m-ferrocenylbenzoio acids
are comparable in strength and are respectively 1.5 and 1.6 times stronger than ferro-
conocarboxylic acidj, which therefore is the weakest acid. p-Ferrocenylphenol is a
weaker acid than phenol (by a factor of 1-3). The opposite relationship is observed
in ferrocenyl derivatives of anilinet o-ferrocenylaniline, is the weakest base#' 300
times weaker than forrocenylamine. The strongest basep ferrocorqlamine, is 42 times
stronger than aniline and almost 28 times stronger than p-forrocenylaniline. It is
concluded that ferrocanyl has a strong positive inductive effect and a weak positive
conjugation effect. Orig. art. has$ 7 tables and 2 formulas.
