The following specifications were recom- mended for such computers: operative memory of 256-5L2 full-sized eel" (at least 32 bits, not counting alp and control bits) and a permanent toemory of 8192 calls, -card UDC: 681.M1.6 MW ACC NR. AP6007911 Modern, high-speedo speciAlized,-,'transistorized computers have speeds of 2000-30M 6perations per second. Thus, the adjustment computatiori of a 10-station theodolite traverse requires two hr on a desk computer but only 5 sec on a specialized electronic computer. The following speeds of general-purpose computers are given for comfarison: Ural-2, 5000 operations per second: M-2, 2500-3000: and the BESH-2. about 10,000. one admitted disadvantage of some specialized machines is lack of automated initial data input. A dimension of about 1. m3 and a weight of 300-700 kg are recommended. Field conditions often require instAllation of computers in motor vehicles with an Independent power supply, thus increasing the weight of a apecializad electronic computer to 1.5 (including heating and ventilation facilitien, and spare parts, control -apparatusland power supply). The flotation method., .~,.m.akee,possible:to'reduo'~e.,the steam consumption, considerablyv 'Which is necessary for the processine of Sylvinite rocks. The resultearo given, -,vhich were obtained by checking the.industri-. al enrichment of Sylvinite of the Verkhnekamakiy Deposity in the testing plant of the Bereznikovskiy kaliyniy kombinat (Berezniki Potassium Kombinat). A Sylvinito rock (crushed to 10 mm) of the-following compoeition was used as raw materials mineral salt appr 7e-9 Sylvine appr 26~, with smaller quantities of gypsum and insoluble compounds. The sieve data of the rock (Table 1),and those of (Table 2) are the insoluble compounds Card 113 given. The scheme of the test plant (Fig) is given-as well as the process of orushing and of removing the mud before the enrichment of the rock. The sieve data of thelclassification product are also given(Table 3)- The removing of the mud was carried out by flotation; for the purpose of loosening the mud, an alkaline starch solution and a collootor-frothing agent FR-2 were added to the pulp. After having removed the mud the flotation was carried out by moans of .orthodecylaminev in which case KC1 passes over into the mud. The content of M in the concentrate purified was 94-95A. Dehy4ration-of the concentrate was carried out by means of centrifuges (humidity up to 4-5~) and drying drums. The yield in KC1 amounts to 67foo It was.found that no corrosion of the apparatus occurs, which Is obviously.due to the use of surface active substances, Some instructions as to the use of the individual devices (flotation machine "31okhanobr 6A", Dorr-. concentrator et al) are givey~, Technical and economic Card 2/3 SUBJECT: USSRIGeology 23-3-116 AUTHORs Zhelnin, G.A.g Candidate of Physical-Mathematical Sciences TITLEs Possibilities of Determination of Vertical Displacements of the Earth Surface in the Estonian SSR Territory by Repeated Levelling (Yozmozhnosti opredelaniya vertitallnogo smeshcheniya zemnoypovarkbuosti na territorii Estonskoy SBR po dannym poytor- nykh nivelirovok) PERIODICALt Izvestiya Akademii Estonskoy SSR# Seriya Tekhnioheskikh i Fiziko-Matematicheskikh Hauk, 1957, #3, pp 205-218 (USSR) ABSTRACTt During recent times it has become possible to apply.the method of repeated precision levelling for studying modern tectonic movements of the earth's orust. The application of this method considerably extended the territorial boundaries of studying tectonic movements, At the present timep also territories remote from the seashores can be investigated. An assumptionwaslaid into the basis of this method that diver- gences in the marks obtained while carrying out the first and subsequent levelling of the same route were caused not only by Card 1/3 measurement errors, but also indicate modern vertical movements 23-3-1/8 TITLEs Possibilities of.~Dotermination of Vertical Displacements of the Earth Surfgas in the Estonian SSR Territory by Repeated Levelling (Vozmozhno'sti ooradeleniya.vartikallnogo smeshcheniya zemnoy pyarkbuosti na territorii Estonskoy SSR po dannym povtor- nykh nivelirovok). of the earth's crust-. The first and a repeated levelling must be separated by a considerable span of timet depending both on:the accuracy of measurements and the rate of proceeding movements. The present paper exposes an attempt to apply this method for studying vertical movements occurring in the territory of the Estonian SSR. Comparing the data of the first hypsometric work performed in 1871 with the results of several levellings performed from 1933 to 19569 the author constructs a system of isolines connecting the points of equal vertical movements. This a yetem of isolines is shown in Figure 3 of the Article. The position of these lines considerably differs from the results b~eod,on Ramsay's geomorpbological data of 1929. fn particular. this is true for the western and south-western parts of the te;ritory, where the Card 2/3 TITLEt Possibilities of Determination of Vertical Displacements of the Earth Surface in:the'Estonian SSR Territory by Repeated Levelling (Vozmozhnoeti opredeleniya vertikallnogo smoshcheniya zemnoy pverkhnosti na territorii Estonskoy SSR po dannym povtor- nykh nivelirovok). isolines, according to the present investigationp run along meridional direction.
