ABSTRACTz The natural sources should be opened up to the highest possible
extent and an abundant supply of food should be established.
Theragra chalcogramma belongs to the hitherto not sufficiently
known 'fish species of the rar East. Many fish-speoies of botter
taste occur in the Far East, and-the afore-said species ist
moreover, not liked because of its infestation by parasites. This
infestation renders the fish species unappetizing for the conmmer
and leads to misunderstandings and to the fact that the fish finds
no sale. The authors tried to answer the following questiones 1) Is
flesh of Theragra, chalcogramma infected with parasitic worma?l if
this is the case, how far? 2) Lre among the parasites of Theragra
chalcogramma any species which are harmful to man? 3) Which

the elimination of highly infected fish, furthermore, the removal of
infected intestines may easily eliminate parasites in fish for sale.
The working process is to be chosen according to the kind of
infestation (salting, freezing, hashing, eto.). In order to find out
the best time and the best regions for catch, invostigations of the
age- and seasonal dynamics of parasites have to be carried out. Mere

ABSTRACT: 7his Author's Certificate introduces: 1. A device for testing footwear
under-dynamic conditions, The unit consists of a movable last for the specimens of
footgear to be test6d, an attachment for controlling the pressure on the last, a
drive with crankshaft, connecting rods and cam mechanism, removable abrasive surfaces
and registration equipment. The machine components are mounted on a stand. The, in
stallation-is designea for comprehensive testing of a number of properties of foot---
gear, e. g. water rebistance, sole durability and thermal insulation properties. The
;I'device is equipped with a platform which is driven with a reciprocating motion Gyn-
chronized with that of the last. The abrasive surface or medium which interacts with

for testing perf0mance characteristics both separately and in combination. Relair
tinits are used for reciprocal connection of the starting and'registration devices.

Abstract Examples are cited of an experlmental, conversion of one

It is~acknowledged that the orgazism's leading characteristics
are adapted beforehand to the external conditions which
cause the changes. The author limits the activity of natural
selection to the adaptation to relatively changed character-

Abstract : A critical survey. In the Opinion of the authors, thQ data
of the last few years on the mechanism of lynogeny, indllc_
tion, the introduction of phaeo into the 'bacterial cell) the
results of isotopic research, the phenomena of transduction "have
considerably weakened the position of the parasitic thQory
of bacteriophagia and have contributed a series of arguments
in favor of an endobacterial point of vicir". The authors
surmise that one of the factors in nature which induce phage
formation may be the action of sYmbionic microbes. The bi-
