Abstract Impulse discharges fit 50 to 110 kV and pressihres of~ 10- to
10-1 mm Hg were studded on the:oscillograph in helium., argon,,
air and Hg vapor. The gap between electrodes:vas varied from-
5 to 17 cm. An essettially inhomogeneaus denvity or positive
space charge with a maximum near the cathode was 6served in
the discharge phase.: The main role in the dii3charge:formation,
at high current dencity in first and second~p4ses-i; played
by compensation of the negative space charge by positive ions

ABSTRACT: This Author's Certificate introduces an aerodyna=ic:e-)ctensometria balance
containing a hollow Dural cylinder, sensing elements made.from a plastic material
with attached strain'gauges, anda, device for stabilizing the operating temperature
conditions of the plastic sensing elements and strain gauges. The unit is designed
to produce a high natural oscill.ation frequency with rapid damping to increase, the
measurement accuracy. Provision is also made for increasing the signa3 from the
strain gauges by adding the longitudinal and transverse effects of straln. sensitivi-
ty. The sensing elements are mede in the form of a trapezoid with a sector cut in
the lower base. These elements are held with a tie bolt in three individual rigid
Dural cylinders, and their outer surfaces are subjected by the force being measured
to simultaneous compression or tension in two mutually perpendicular directions.

Abstract The method of opt-.'ec atomic spectroscopy is used -to itives-
tigate the fine structure of the lines of neutral and
ionized U233 ato=i. Approximately 50 lines with a~six-
component hyperfine structure havebeen found, thus con-
firming the previausly-established values of the spin
of the u233 nucleus, I -- 5/2. From the structure of the
spark lines, the lower levels of vhich belong to the con-
figuration 5 0 6d,7s, an estimate is made of the value of
the quadrupole interaction of the electron shelI urith the
nucleus. The eign of the optical quadrupole moment of
the U233 nucleus is positive; the value of the moment is
Cexd 1/1 approximately 13 x 10-24 cu?- (accuracy approximately 40%).

Recently ~xpariments were conducted at Berkeley with
regard t6,',triple scattering of protons of 310 MeV by-
protons. The two magnitudes measured in these expetiments
charaoteriz'o the change of polarizaiion of the one'.ihtor-
acting particle at subsequent soattering, These two:
magnitudes are the depolarization D &ad the rotatio~n ot
polarization Be Man we have, togetkier with the scattering
orosa section and with the amount of polft~rizationo four
independent magnitudes ohavacterizing the scattering
matrix. The phase analysis, as oonducted by means of the
magnitudes mantioned here, yields five possible sete of;
possible phases with the moments 1 4( 4- This ambi uity
is caused by the circumstance that the four magnitudgs~
mentioned do not correspond to any complete set of

experiments. In order to make the phase analysis ua-
ambiguous, additional experiments are required: the triple
scattering using a magnetic field, or the correlation -)f
the polarizations. But the application of a magnetic field
at the triple scattering does not lead to a. c-omplete un-
ambiguity of phase.analysis. As sh~oivn In the oomputatiolle
subsequently listed in the paper under roviaw, the amounts
of the correlation of the polarizationsp corresponding to
different sets of phases, differ very strongly from each
other. This makes possible to completely separate the
mentioned setsp if only one correlation of the polarizations
is measured.

ABSTRACT: The difference,.- in the evaluation of lengthening by the value
