The distributions of the electric charges and of the magnetic moment of the nucleons viere' investigated thorovgftly in Hofstadter's (Khofshtadter) experiments an the scattering of electrons on protons and neutrons. It is therefore interesting, to investigate the influence of the form factor on processes like bremsotrahlung or ;air production on nucleons. The authors calculated these processes for the special case of protons in the lowest approximation of the perturbation theory (in the third order with respect to e). The graphs taken into account axe shewm In a figure. Also the "meson fur" will give an additional contribution Card 113 to the cross section of these processes. But taking The.Bremestrahlung and the Pair Production on Protons: S07/56-35-11-58/0 in Consideration of the Form Factor account of this contribution is rather complicated and therefore only some comments on it cre given,in this pftpqr~ The exact formulas are rather complicated and therefore, are not given in this paper, When the proton mae4 tends to infinity, these formulas are changed to the formulae of Bathe (Bete)-Reitler (Gavtler) for the brems- atrahlung and pair production. Deviations from these for- mulae will be observed only in the region oflarge so4ttering angles or in the re ion of extremely high en4rgies of the incident electron ($ 500 MeV). This leads to the following conolUBion: A difference between the Bathe (Bste)-Heitler (Gaytler) formula will be an Argument In favor of the in- fluence of the recoil and of the form factor~,on the cross section of the investigated process, milld alio in favor of the possible existence of an additional aontribution of the I'meson fur" of the nucleon an the cross section. In order to illustrate these considerations, numerical. results are given in a table. The above mentioned difference has noticeable values N 15 %) even for relatively small Card 2/3 angles (300) and this fact is an argument in favor of & The.-Bremastrahlung and the Pair Production on Protons S OV '5 6 - 3 5 - 1 -58 '0 in Consideration of the Form Factor noticeable contribution of the llme,~on fur" to the cross, ---section of -the bremsstrahlung.- Further" a6.1cul-Jitions will solve this problem in a more definite Way. SOT/56-37-3-21:/62:: TITLE: Dispersion Relations for the Virtual Oompt6n Effect PERIODICAL- Zhurnal eksperimentallroy i teoretich, eskoy.fiziki, 19rig, Vol 37o ITr 3(g), PP 728-734 (USSR) ABSTRACT: In the present paper the dispersion rolationo for the virtual Compton effect in the lowest approxim.lition with respect to e are derived by the inethod ot 11. q. Bogolyubov. V. S. 7la4imi- rov and A. A. Logunov (Ref 3) furnish-od a proof for the bremestrahlung and for the pair formaidon, and for this reason the authors concentrated on the definition of dispersion relations which are suited for practival uve. The authors demonstrate that the cross sections af the processes in iingle- nucleon approximation agree with those cross sections which were computed in the lowest approximation of the perturbz~tion theory. In this case the method of diopersion relations per- mits the strict introduction of the form factor (of the 110f'. stadter type) into the nucleon vertices of the Feyninan diagrams which are in connection with the virtual photon line. This is one of the essential advantages which have Card 113 dispersion relations over the perturbation theory. The resultant -------- ---- Dispersion Relations for the Virtual Compton Effect SOV~5:6-37-3-21i/62 dispersion relations are, suited at leaot for the entimAtion of the conti:ibutiun of the aingle-pion state to the proceases investigated. By taking into account the single-pion state an impo-rtant extension of the energy range in the examination of quantum electrodynamios at small dintances may be attained. The quantum electrodynamics for breinsatrahlung at an ener;ly of -.,550 Mev of 'Che incident electron mnd an energy of.,-2WIMev of the emitted photon may be examined up to distancea of 14 cm. The individual parts of the present paper deal with the following: dispersion relations for the amplitude of the virtual Compton effect, structure of the amplitude of bremsstrahlung, dispersion relations for the Lorentz ipvariant coefficient, dispersion relations for the physical amplitudes in the center-of-mass system. By -means of the dispersion relations., form factors depending rigorously on a variable may be introduced into the process of bremstitrahlung and pair formation. These form fmctors have alroady been deduced by R. Hofstadter for the negative values of the argument (Ref 11). There are 2 figures and 14 references, 6 of which Card 2/3 are Soviet. N, Anichkov's method. The content of thiol groups in the blood serum and liver of rabbits with athero- sclerosis was reduced. There was an inverse relation between the content of thiol groups in the blood serum and the level of cholesterol, total lipids,,and ,H -lipoproteins in it. Subcutaneous administration of sodium ethylxantho- genate in a daily dose Of 30 mg/kg had a prophylactic,,inhibiting effect on the development of atherosclerosis in that it raintained a.nonml level of thiol groups in the blood serum and liver and reduced morphological changes associated with atherosclerosis. It did not affect significantly the verum indices of lipid metabolism, however. Table, graphs, figures, 7 references (2 Bulgarian, 1 LTSSR, 4 Western). Russian and English sum ries. '#Incidents and Side Effects In the Application of X-Ray Contrast Matter." Sof ia, Suvrernenna Yeditsina, Vol 14, Ao 3, 1963, ~pp 11-19. Abstract! Noting reports of deaths in various parts ol the world with the use of X-ray contrast matter, the author describes two cases of serious anaphylactic shock-in the course of urographic testing with perabrodil. One ratient fell unconscious for more than eight rhinutes, vias immediate- 'ly subjected to gam=a therapy, and was recovered in 48 hours. The other patient recovered his strength in 25 min- utes. Advance tests had been negative in bqth cas Be The author has also noticed a variety of side elfectB in his practice conparable to those noted in world literature. Side effects are much rarer when antihistwnines and hydro- cortisone are used. Lett. vA 139 93, 1964) in which they present results of the measurements of the real.part of the nuclear elastic scattering amplitude for an energy of 4 Gov, and more pro- (cise data for energies 2, 6, 8,.and 10 Gov, taking into account the relativistic Icorrections. The experimental technique was described elsewhere (PTE no. 6~ 18, 1963). The dtfferential cross section was measured in the interval 00003 < Itl 4 0.2 (Gev/c)' (t = momentum transfer squared). The analysis,at the obtained data ,as well as those reported by others was based on the Bethe formula (Ann. oftPhys.. Iv. 3, 190, 1958) with allowance for radiative corrections. The results agm well Iwith the theoretical curve proposed by Saditig (Phya '. An irradiation geometry has been, used, in which the incident f1ux is perpqndi_k cular to the plane of the emulsion layers. This experimental arrangement permits the efficient recording of p-p scattering down to very .9mall Angles, and tt reliable singling out of backgrourd events. In all, 1111 cases of elastio-p-p scattering have been singled out. The results are ccmpared with the differential section under zero angle, calculated by the optical theorem using the full sed- Card 1/2 8/058/6eooo/006/012/136 Elastic proton-proton scattering...
