ABSTRACT: Polymerization kinetics of styrene ip the presenco of tetramethylthiuram-

at temperatures of 80, 95, 115, and 130*C. The increase in the rate of polymeriza-

TEXT' - The author describes the results of an invei, tigatton of the effect
of cartographic generalization on the length of objects picturecl by curve litnes.
He describes the method proposed by him for obtaining on visps r%PlLable leng1rh.,i
of curves, using thread metallic mode I- standards. Ai3 a result of experiment-al
works, a systematic shortening of the lengtl-sof rivers and horizontals (from 5 'to
40%) relative to the standard on the.-1:25,000 scale map was noto!-d with decrea!1ing

stract 1G178 (V sb. "Vopr. kartografii", Novosibirsk, 1961, 77'101)
T~-: The author considers various methods of preai0ion measurement of the
length of curves on maps, in particular. he critically evaluates the methods, de-
scribed in the following works: by Volkov, N.M.."A new met~icd of measuring river
lengths on maps" (Izv. AN SSSR, Ser, geogr. I geofiz., 1949; v. 13, no. 2); by
Volkov, N.M. "On measuring lengths of rivers on maps" (Tr. DIIIGAiX, 1952, 5); by
Znamenshchikov, G.I. "Estimating the accuracy of measur-ing river lengths on topo- V/

that the analytical method of allowance Yor sinuosity of corves proposed by N~M,
Volkov is inadequate in view of its low precision. Methods, proposed by F.A:.
Chernyayeva and A.K. Malovichko are very labor-cansumIng, a lid th~ accuracy it
improved oDly slightly. The method employed by Oidrcrt-etslu.I.,hbajs, in the author's
opinion, the most suitable, although it also increases labor consuitiption in cartc-
metric work and calls for the- further developmen,~4 for InaveAsing It's accuracy.

ABSTRACT: Hydroperoxides can be determined by a number ok methods~(Ref6l_6)

by the type of reagent and solvent adopteff, In:this co=ectidn,
considerable difficulties are caused by tl--,e pxesence of ~

takes place in an alkaline solution in thia pre'senae of 95 %a' ~

can be determined with the greatest accuracy in the presence of
unsaturated hydrocarbons. As the arsenite surylus is determined
only after extraction of the organic impurities from thereaction
mixture, the sample weighed nortion can~be ve~~y large. It is
therefore possible by th is method to determine traces of
hydroperoxides, which are no.tv traceable by the diTect iodometric
method. A very accurate description is given of how this
determination method is ~cealized. There axe 1 table and. 8
