Abstract: This article contains the results of experinjaiital investi(;ations of
longitudinal non-linear oscillations of a gas excited In a closed tube. The
amplitudes and profiles of the shock waves are compared vith their calculated
values at excitation frequencies LO close to.the first natural frequency of the
gas column q =1TaO/L where so is the speed of sound in t~he unperturbed gas, and
L is the length of the tube. The existence of shock wavet; has been discovered
at an excitation frequency half the first'natural frequency. The theory based on
the.n4thod of successive approximations is developed for the latter case.: A gen-
cralization is presented for excitation frequencies in t6e vi(,irity of W - It
(211 = lip 3, 5, ...
The experimntal setup and procedure are described,iand the readings of a
pressure-sensitive sensor at the closed end of tubes 340'and 170 cm long are
presented in graphical form for a broad range of excitation frequeaZies. The
experiment shows the low effect of viscosity an the aciplitude of the shu6c waves.

"Effect of Pressure on the Phonon Impurity Zonl~ of a Pb-In Alloy"

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to deteimine experimentally
the change of characteristics in the oscillatory spectrum of lead
with.s. slight impurity of indium when the substance is put under
ressure. As in experiments executed earlier bythe same authors
e.g., Phys. Stat. Sol.,.~O, KI 07- 1968) fine-film tunnel materials
of the superconductor-dielectric-superconductor type, as the most
sensitive detectors of changes in density of the ma-terial, were
used. Methods of preparing -L-hese iiaterials and, their Al-A120 PbIn
contacts are described. It is found~that under pressure, with a
reduction in volume, the phonon spectrum of th6 metal is shifted
lin.,the high-energy direction. An illustrution.:~ Is givon of the
shift of the second harm-onic for an Al-A1203-Pbo.93Ino.07 specimen
under pressures of -ero and 9 kbar. The reuulta of 11,hia work were
raported~to the 17th All-Union Conference on Low-Temperature Phy-

Induction of Magnetic Transformation in Manganese Arsenide:by a Strong
Magnetic Field"

Abstract: A transition from the ferromagnetic phase 6F7,1 to the parEMagnet--c
phase aplj is observed in manganese arsenide at temperature 01- 3130K. It is
experimentally found that when T> 01, the transition 61-1-cTM is induced by
a.considerably higher field than the reverse transition. In the presence
of hydrostatic pressure over a vide pressure and temperature range, irre-
vercible 0-o-a transitions are.abserved which twe indwied by". a single-acting
magnetic pulse field with an intensity of the order of .100 000 ocruteds.
In order to explain these and other peculiarities of iagnetic transformation
in MnAs, stable states are computed for various values of H, P, T. ard,on
the basis of the Bean-Rodbell thermodynamic theory. It is concluded that
the experimentally observed peculiarities of mag-let-ic:1ransformaticn at
01, do not contradict the theory.

"Effect of Comprehensive Hydrostatic Pressure on the1titeraction of
Dislocations"

Abstract: Earlier papers on this subject of the effect of bydrostatic pres-
sure on dislocations have taken contradictovI views, a-nd it is with the in-
tent of reconciling them that the authors of the.prescht paper have investi-
ated the matter. They begin their analysis with at), 0,-quation for the potential

energy of the body under pressure, and theyz viev~ thin ~quan ti ty energy, as tile
sum of the characteristic dislocatien energies and th~ defo,.-Ttation field plus
the sum of the dislocation energies and the energy catising the deformation
field. From. the formulas derived In this theoretical. liaicle, they find that
the pressure increases the interaction between the dis Jlocations and activates
the processes which annihilate dislocations of opposil:e sign. It is not"'
that their theoretical results agree closely with the ~experlrfiental results.

Abstract: The electrical and magnetic properties and;the lattice parametors of
single-crystal samples of cliromium telluride were invL~hstigated using magnetic
fields up to 12 ke and hydrostatic pressures upto.11;kbar over the tenpera-
ture range 67-400*K. It is noted that the thermodynali4c theoi-I developed by
Bean and Rodbell indicates that the trant3ition from the ferromagnetic state
to the paramagnetic state may be a first-rorder phase transition in a ferro-
magnetic if the compressibility is sufficiently great~and the Curie tempera-
ture is strongly dependent on pressure. It foll1ras f om thl.F, theory that

tion; in particular, anomalies in the thermal expansion in the Curie tempera-

that anomalies in the crystal lattice parameters, the 'Specific volume, and the
coefficient of temperature expansion and compressibility are observed at all
pressures in the region of the Curie temperature. These anomalie:~ are more
clearly evident with the growth in temperature. The Curie temperature T. varies

Abstract: Experimental investigations,at Dnepropetrovsk Physicotechnical
Scientific Research Institute, Academy of Sciences Ukrainian SSR, showed
that the cold plastic deformation of billets of high..,~,speed'steels R18, P'12'
and R9 by the hydropressing method results in significant refinement and more
uniform distribution of the carbide phase. Inv6stiga~ions-of R18 steel bil-
lets follorwirg hydropressing, annealing,and beat fini~shing showed an increase
inthe mechanical properties and thermostability of the steel, while produc-
tion tests of 10-m-diameter reamers showed a 60-70tpercent increase in tool

deformation. The hydropressing setup consists of a high-pressure multilayer
container, rod and die iwith gasketing,' an upper and'loweriplate. and a cen-
terer and fastener. The tool billet hydropressing proces.-t provides for the
preparation of initial billets, straining of the billets,and their stAbsequent
treatment. Khl2M steel (HRG 57-59) is used for the die. The econoadc advisa-
bility of using the technique of high-speed steel hydropress:Lng for the
fabrication of tool billets is based mainly on the ipereased tool durability
as a result of the improved structure and physicomechanical properties of
the steel after deformation. There is:a slaving'in hijoh-speed steels because
the billet comes as close as possible to the tool size.

Abstracti The role of low-frequency fluctuations which lead to variations In
the Josephson current as a function of anomalous curient-voltage characteris-
ties and magnetism is discussed. It is noted that for super conducting
tunnel systems it is possible to establish phase coherence~throught the

Abstract: On the basis of results of numerous measurements it is shown that
magnatic transformations observed in various subsystems of the Mn2 xAxBysbl-y
system are qualitatively identical. In.this system oaA be stabili;ed not only
various magnetic structures with identical lattice syo6etry but also a weakly
ferromagnetic structure connected with a change of thii lattleo symmotry, A
common model of spin orientations is presented for aw'undistorted lattice of the
system; this model includes a farrimagnetic struaturej an antiferromagnetic
structure, and 'two intermediate magnetic st!ructures teat a.~e close to ispiral
ones. By changing the concentration of alloying elema~'nts A or B, the temperature

with respect to resistance to deformation an&indicators of
plasticity in a range that varies broadly for'the~temperature
and rate of deformation.
The first three illustrations depict curves of defor-
mation resistance of the above alloys as.a fuhction of tile
size and amount of deformation at.various temperatures. The
fourth figure shows change in values of ~ and;~ 6 of these heat-
resistant alloys as a function of temperatureliand rate of de-
formation.

ature field of a test piece during precipitation on a plastometer. By solv-
ing the equation of heat conductivity by numerical and analytical methods,

order to confirm the results, an experimental investigation was made an in-

conditions of formation of thin tantalum films made by~ vaporization wing
an electron beam. When tantalum is precipitated on cold substrates, the
substrate material has no observable effect'on the phg'ue composition of the
films. The film consists of a-tantalum and tantalum c [rrbi&-. The film has
a "labyrinthine" structure. Oriented ci7stallization !of tantalum iq ob-
served with precipitation on heated substrates. The resistivity of the
films decreases with an increase in substrate temperature. No P-tantzLlum
is observed in the film . Electron bombardmnt of the subr~trate surface

cuits which is based on producing passive elements on a dielectric platte,
connecting the active elements to current-conducting~circuit tracks, and
dividing up the plate into functional modules. To ensure orientation of
the active elements with respect to the points of connection and to autor--ate
the assembly process, the active elements are presoldered to lead groups
made in a metal plate, from which the active elemerito are then cut out' in
sequence together with the leads and attached to the~~current-coaductixig
circuit tracks while simultaneously moving the plate together with the

Abstract: In this article the method of light interference teas used to in-
vestigate imperfections of crystal lattice which occur in a diamond dopcd by
introducing lithium ions with an.energy from 20 to 80 kiloelectron volts

of base preheating on the bonding strength ifith the,protectiva coatings and
its densityt effects of silicate and boroailica:te sublayeru on the bonding
strength and the activation enera of the chemical I~tex-action of sublayers
with oxide coatings, tho,offect of graphite porositylon the bonding strength,
and the effect of addition of molybdenum, silicon, ark aluWzum into the
sprayed oxide on the gas density and the oxidative repistwice of coatings.
The kinetics of the Increasing bond strength of Al 20 3~and ZrO2coatings
sprayed on preheated graphite are analyzed. The required activation energy of
the graphite surface and its d;rong bond wit h the sprayed AlzO3 ww found to
be close to the half of the energy of the atomic bondjn the graphite lattices

Translation: A study is made of the effect Of the H41th-fraquency circuits of
decimeter-range diode breakers an their, speed, bandwidth, noise and behavior
at microwave levels close to limiting for control :p-111' diodes. It is demon-
strated that the speed of all the commutation devices'!Vlith j~_il diodes in the
decimeter range is on the order of units of nanoseconds vith*the exception of
the maximmm decoupling setup time in the blocked arm 6E the switch which is
